Our tour includes many highlights including Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. This amazing building is set within the beautiful surroundings of Kelvingrove Park including Glasgow University, the Glasgow Museum of Transport and Park Grove and Trinity College Towers. At the world famous Willow Tea Rooms, enjoy morning coffee and tea served with traditional scones, local jams and cake. Our adventure continues into the mountainous region of Scotland, full of beautiful Lochs and incredible scenery. Lunch is enjoyed in a special local restaurant before continuing to Oban to board the lovely Lord of the Glens. This beautiful family owned and operated vessel is perfect for exploring this region of Scotland. To provide you with a small group experience on the overall journey, our group will consist of approximately 34 guests. Having enjoyed the Lord of the Glens many times in the past, we are confident the on board experience, with other English speaking guests will be superb. Overnight Lord of the Glens, 5 nights, Moor Oban (B,L,D) People make Glasgow Glasgow, one of Europe's most vibrant, dynamic and stylish cities, has been named the number one UK destination on the rise. The city s historical legacy is held in many different places: museums and art galleries, libraries and archives, historic buildings, parks and gardens, rivers and canals from its archaeology to its architecture. Day 4 A wee dram, McCaig s Folly, visit Duart Castle Our morning walking tour includes a visit and tasting at the local whiskey distillery. Discover an interesting structure high on the hill overlooking Oban known locally as McCaig's Tower but referred to by many Scots as McCaig's Folly. Sail across the beautiful Oban Bay and Loch Linnhe to enter the Sound of Mull for our mooring at Craignure. Here we disembark for an adventure to the very picturesque Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull. Standing proudly on a cliff top guarding the Sound of Mull, Duart enjoys one of the most spectacular and unique positions on the West Coast of Scotland. Our scenic drive brings us back to the Lord of the Glens in Tobermory. (B,L,D) Moor Tobermory Journeys by Jerry Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 2 of 13
Duart Castle One of the most spectacular and unique sites on the West Coast of Scotland, the castle stands on a crag at the end of the peninsular jutting out into the Sound of Mull at the intersection of the Sound of Mull, Loch Linne and the Firth of Lorne and within view of the neighbouring castles of Dunstaffnage, Dunollie, Aros and Ardtornish, part of a chain of castles up the Sound of Mull to Mingary Castle. Day 5 Tobermory, sail the Sound of Mull, West Highland Line Enjoy free time this morning to explore the lovely village of Tobermory and its gaily painted waterfront. A relaxing sail down the length of the very scenic Sound of Mull brings us to Loch Linnhe and the start of the Caledonian Canal at Corpach. Later in the day, we board the West Highland Line to Glenfinnan with its famous viaduct and beautiful Loch. (B,L,D) Moor Corpach Tobermory Built as a fishing port in the late 18th century, Tobermory is now the main town on the Isle of Mull. With its colourful frontage curving round its natural harbour, Tobermory is one of the most instantly recognisable of Scotland s island-towns. West Highland Line One of the top railway journeys in the world, this section of the famous line has achieved worldwide coverage through the Harry Potter films and the Jacobite Steam Train. The fabulous scenery surrounds us and includes the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, a late Victorian construction and a site to behold. Over 100 feet in height and made up of 21 arches this viaduct is a beautiful piece of engineering and a glorious sight. Day 6 Neptune s Staircase, tree lined Laggan Avenue, Fort Augustus This morning we begin our ascent of Neptune s Staircase, a series of inter-connected locks that raises the vessel to the very pleasant village of Banavie. Sail through the very shadow of Ben Nevis itself and its startling 2,000 ft cliffs into Loch Lochy, along Loch Oich and the impressive tree lined Laggan Avenue to Fort Augustus. Here a series of inter-connected locks runs through the centre of the town and lowers the vessel to the world famous Loch Ness. Take some time this afternoon to explore the lovely village of Fort Augustus during free time. (B,L,D) Moor Inveroich Neptune s Staircase The most impressive single engineering feat on the Caledonian Canal is this ladder of eight locks that raises vessels to a height of 70 feet above sea level over a distance of 500 yards. Climbing the ladder on the Lord of the Glens is the ideal way to understand how this deceptively simple process works. Journeys by Jerry Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 3 of 13
Day 7 Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Loch Dochfour This morning we sail along the famous Loch Ness, Scotland's deepest loch. Of course, it has its own brooding Highland charm and with the fable-or-fiction mystique of the Loch Ness monster, this picturesque Loch along the famous Scottish nature trail, it continues to bring curious onlookers from the world over. The Lord of the Glens pauses briefly in front of Urquhart Castle for photos before sailing along Loch Dochfour and in to Inverness. Join the Captain this evening for his farewell reception and dinner. (B,L,D) Moor Inverness Urquhart Castle The magnificently situated Urquhart Castle, on the banks of Loch Ness, was once one of Scotland s largest castles. Urquhart witnessed considerable conflict throughout its 500 years as a medieval fortress from the 13th to 17th centuries. Day 8 Highlands, lunch at the Scone Palace, Edinburgh Travel through the stunning beauty of the Scottish Highlands, along breathtaking Lochs and endless mountains. At the impressive Scone Palace we enjoy a traditional lunch followed by a personal tour. Our scenic, relaxing adventure continues into Edinburgh. (B,L,D) Overnight Edinburgh, The Caledonian, 2 nights Scone Palace Scone Palace has an exciting and colourful history. Fifteen hundred years ago it was the capital of the Picts. In the intervening centuries, it has been the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of the Kings of Scots, including Macbeth and Robert The Bruce. It houses an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare artifacts and the grounds are renowned throughout the world. Day 9 Discover Edinburgh Today we explore one of the United Kingdom s most famous cities. Explore the closes along the Royal Mile, dine in a truly unique Scottish pub, visit the Royal Yacht Britannia and enjoy free time in the afternoon to do as much or as little as you please. To provide you with a relaxing afternoon and evening, free of commitment to indulge in the local gastronomic opportunities, dinner is on your own. (B,L) Edinburgh Built on extinct volcanoes atop an inlet from the North Sea (the Firth of Forth) and enveloped by rolling hills, lakes (lochs), and forests, Edinburgh invites exploration. This is a city of elegant streets, cobbled alleys, and incomparable sunsets. Journeys by Jerry Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 4 of 13
Day 10 Dublin and Powerscourt House and Gardens We fly to Dublin this morning to begin our exploration of the Emerald Isle. Dublin City has lots of Viking history, fabulous food and is officially the friendliest locale in the world! Our local guide and friendly coach driver share the famous Irish hospitality. We leave the city for a relaxing drive to the beautiful Co. (County) Kildaire and travel into County Wicklow for a visit of Powerscourt House and Gardens, one of the most beautiful in Ireland. We return to Dublin to check in to our hotel and some free time is given to relax or explore on your own. (B,D) Overnight Dublin, Brooks Hotel, 2 nights Day 11 Dublin, Ireland, book of Kells Our tour today is the perfect way to discover Dublin, a lovely Irish town. We begin at St. Patrick s Cathedral which was founded in 1191 and is the largest Church in Ireland. Continuing, we see Dublin Castle, City Hall and lively Temple Bar. Our final stop of the morning is Trinity College and the Old Library to see the Book of Kells, a stunningly beautiful manuscript containing the Four Gospels. It is Ireland's most precious medieval artifact, and is generally considered the finest surviving illuminated manuscript to have been produced in medieval Europe. Following free time for lunch we visit the Guinness storehouse to discover what goes into making a pint of Guinness the ingredients, the processes, the effort. The journey ends in the Gravity Bar on the top floor with a pint of Guinness and the best view in the city! This evening join us for a traditional Irish meal including Irish Folklore, storytelling and live traditional music. (B,D) Trinity College, Old Library The Long Room - The main chamber of the Old Library is the Long Room, and at nearly 65 metres in length, it is filled with 200,000 of the Library s oldest books. Marble busts of the great philosophers and writers of the western world line the Long Room, a collection that began in Day 12 Adare and Killarney This morning enjoy a lovely drive to the village of Adare. Adare is located in the south west of Ireland and is regarded as being Ireland's prettiest and most picturesque village. It is a haven for those wishing to escape, unwind and take in its medieval surroundings. Situated on the river Maigue, a tributary of the river Shannon, Adare is steeped in history dating back to 1200ad and has been the subject of many rebellions, wars and conquests, leaving behind a legacy of historical monuments. Following lunch we continue to Killarney where we check in to our hotel. (B,L,D) Overnight Killarney, The Malton, 2 nights Day 13 Ring of Kerry Tour Cinematic sea views, secluded white-sand beaches and mountains shrouded in mist. Believe the hype: the Ring of Kerry has earned its reputation as one of the most beautiful regions in Ireland. The scenic route passes through lively villages with bustling pubs, charming bookshops and pretty cafés. A visit is not complete without seeing the village Bog and Sheep Dog Trials. No day on the Ring is complete without lunch at the Smugglers Inn and free time to wander in the lovely village of Sneem. Tonight enjoy a casual walk to dinner at Cellar One in Killarney. (B,L,D) Journeys by Jerry Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 5 of 13
Ring of Kerry Picture the scene. In the gorgeous surrounds of Killarney National Park in County Kerry, a young girl struggles with her camera. She s trying to fit a giant pink rhododendron plant into her shot. There's a click. A guide walking past spots her taking the shot and offers a slice of local insight: It s a weed, you know. They have to cut it back in the summer. The bushes totally take over the mountains. On the Ring of Kerry, it seems, even the weeds are worth photographing. Day 14 Cliffs of Moher & Burren Today is a day of dramatic scenery, friendly locals and historic venues. The Burren, in North County Clare and parts of South County Galway is like no other place in Ireland. There are no bogs and very few pastures. Instead there are huge pavements of limestone called 'clints' with vertical fissures called 'grikes' with views that are truly spectacular. Enjoy lunch with the Cassidy Family who have long family roots in the Burren. The Cliffs of Moher are simply stunning. At over 200m high, one can easily view the cliffs, the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, the Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk mountains to the north in Connemara and Loop Head to the south. (B,L,D) Overnight Galway, Park House Hotel, 2 nights Cassidy s Pub The Cassidy Family have owned and operated a pub and grocery business in Carron since before This original restaurant has a farm on which they rear their own beef and goat for the menu. Moreover, the Cassidy Family are taking care of horses and concentrate on breeding Irish Draughts and Connemara ponies. Day 15 Kylemore Abbey Tour Enjoy the breathtaking coastal landscape of Connemara, situated at the very edge of Europe on the west coast of Ireland. It is surely one of the most beautiful, unspoilt places in Ireland. From the rugged Twelve Bens mountain range in the north through lake-rich Roundstone Bog to the golden beaches reaching out into the Atlantic Ocean, you'll know you're in Connemara by the light that constantly changes the mood and tone of the landscape. At Kylemore Abbey, tour the Abbey and explore the over 6 acres of Victorian Walled Gardens. (B,L) Jerry Van Dyke Difference Our farewell lunch is at the splendid Renvyle House. Enjoy a delicious meal accompanied by storied memories of your recent journey. This extra planning ensures your final evening on this incredible journey is as relaxing or as adventurous as you please. Kylemore Abbey & Walled Garden Visit the restored rooms of the Abbey and learn about its history and tales of tragedy and romance. Explore the 6 acre Victorian Walled Garden with its magnificent restored buildings. Discover great walks through the grounds. Journeys by Jerry Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 6 of 13

The MV Lord of the Glens is a vessel with the elegant appeal of a luxury yacht. Indeed, the Royal Yacht Britannia was very much in mind when it came to deciding the exterior livery with its Mauritius deep blue hull, complemented by an all around band and resplendent eagle motifs all in gold, together with a brilliant white superstructure. She boasts all round teak clad viewing and promenade decks with rich mahogany interiors. The Lord of the Glens is the only passenger vessel able to navigate the intricate waters of the Caledonian Canal as well as the sheltered waters around Scotland s hauntingly beautiful fretted west coast. Her Master is able to manoeuvre the ship into almost impossibly tight locks and around the many tortuous bends, bringing the dramatic landscape even closer. The Lord of the Glens is most certainly in sympathy with both the landscape and the environment. On stepping aboard you are greeted by a classical, colonial look with rich hardwood finishes throughout offset by cream paneling very much reminiscent of the ancient deluxe British Pullman carriage. Of special note are the original 1929 Riviera armchairs (PLM Orient Express), hand painted David Roberts lithographs, light fittings from the SS France and Nord Norge, restaurant chairs, overhead glass paneling, deck furniture from the RMS Windsor Castle and lovely brass friezes from the RMS Kenya Castle. Elsewhere there are scaled models of locomotives and ocean going ships. Throughout the vessel is adorned with plush carpeting and hardwood flooring with inlaid compass motifs made by craftsmen at the top of their profession. The entire vessel is air-conditioned/heated throughout. Guests embark at the Reception level, where also are located the delightful one sitting Robert Louis Stevenson restaurant, the Bridge and six Top Deck State Cabins. One Deck up, enjoy the David Livingstone Lounge/Library, Sir Walter Scott Lounge, and forward and aft facing viewing decks. She was rebuilt in Spain in 2000 and enjoys annual refurbishment since.
