Pragmatic regulator The Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) provides pragmatic and robust regulation designed for the protection of investors whilst not overburdening financial institutions with excessive costs and bureaucracy. The GFSC is also renowned for being approachable and accessible, encouraging face-to-face meeting to resolve issues and discuss new ideas. Highest standards of regulation In 2016, MONEYVAL reported Guernsey as being compliant or largely compliant with 48 out of 49 of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations; the highest of any jurisdiction so far assessed. Modern company law Guernsey s company law, which is similar to English law, provides a modern and flexible regime.
