In the process of removing many outer wing attach bolts inside & outside wing, a very laborious process but it is going well. Young students on job are not particularly suited for inside wing work & as we don't fit, we are chasing a qualified fellow of a suitable size to do the inside wing work. It will cost, but not too much. Hoping for answer tomorrow. Carlos from UPS is still really great, the way the project is working out is quite good, hopefully won't be any crane hire, just the cost of filling the UPS machine diesel tanks. Still working towards having the Cat basically stripped before I head home. Engine removal preparation We also have another escort on tap to give Pedro a break, plus get some weekend work done, $50 half day, $100 for full day. No idea if the passes will happen, not really pursuing matter now. End update from Terry.

2 Nunc cursus magna quis Preparing for engine removal Catalina Recovery Update (from our recently returned Project Co- ordinator) With the weather working on our side and the assistance of Morovis from AA and Marcos from UPS with their forklift we were able to complete the job of removal of the Empennage. The previous day an attempt was made, but aborted because of the strong winds. By lowering the tail to gain additional height for the forklift on the next day, the job was eventually completed. 2

Many hot days with the natural air-conditioning welcomed. With the assistance of local aircraft mechanic student s, further removal of timber panels are replaced with custom Aluminium panels. The local training school has welcomed and offered assistance with disassembly and the opportunity for the students to work on such an historic aircraft and project. Inspection panel removal was an exercise, as fasteners having been exposed to the environment for many years were finely removed. 3

4 Between jobs while waiting for weather and equipment, other jobs are started, such as as the disconnecting of engine controls and systems. Many questions were asked as to what type of engines were fitted to OUR GIRL. Are they R-2000 or R2600? Engines are R s 4

5 RATHMINES CATALINA With the tail assembly removed and with bad weather forecast ahead, we decided it was time to move the Cat ( OUR GIRL ), into the hangar. With the assistance of local company AMERIFLIGHT s aircraft tug, we had her in the hangar for further disassembly work. Dave Swanson, (Project Co- ordinator, RCMPT, June 2013).
