11 Market Profile Economy Sevierville, Tennessee is the newest destination in the Great Smoky Mountains area. A recent boom in development has spurred tremendous growth for Sevierville s tourism product and positively impacted Sevierville s revenue despite the nation s sluggish economy. With ample room for new projects and solid interest from investors and developers, Sevierville plans to continue its metamorphosis into the Smokies newest destination. Growing hand in hand with Sevierville s destination status, new service facilities such as LeConte Medical Center and the King Family Public Library have increased Sevierville s ability to meet the needs of locals while the completion of well over 1,000 hotel rooms in 2008, the groundbreaking of new developments and almost five years of large events with tremendous economic impact at the Sevierville Events Center have given visitors new reasons to come to Sevierville Transportation The City of Pigeon Forge started the Fun Time Trolley system in 1986 to provide a safe, affordable, and convenient hop on, hop off type of transportation service for the hundreds of thousands of people that visit the area each year. Today with a fleet of more than thirty trolley buses and a few smaller cutaway buses the Fun Time Trolley services the city of Pigeon Forge and a portion of Sevierville. When visiting the area they encourage you to leave your vehicle parked, relax, and enjoy the sites as you travel from destination to destination with their friendly and informative drivers doing the driving. With the purchase of an all day wristband you can ride all day, hopping off and on the trolleys as often as you like. They have well over a hundred stops located along their combined routes.

12 Market Profile Education Sevier County School System recognizes the importance of providing an instructional program that responds to the individual needs of our students. Each child has unique interests, abilities, and talents. They understand that as a school district they must make every effort to challenge each child to achieve to his or her greatest potential. The Sevier County School System serves over 14,500 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade and employs more than 2,000 professional, paraprofessional, and auxiliary staff members. There are twenty-eight schools in the system and the organizational structures of the schools vary to meet the unique needs of the communities served. The system has four primary schools, three intermediate schools, three middle schools, eight elementary schools, five high schools and four specialty schools as well as an adult education site. Instructional programs within the system are reflective of both state and local curriculum standards. All eligible schools within the system are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is essential that parents, educators and the community work together to prepare Sevier County s children for a bright future. Healthcare LeConte Medical Center opened February 15, 2010, offering a full array of medical specialties and outstanding medical technology in a mountain-modern setting. The Dolly Parton Birthing Unit offers family-centered maternity care in beautiful new rooms, complete with views of the Smoky Mountains. The spacious new Emergency Department provides excellent care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their Surgery department features four expanded Surgical Suites and two Endoscopy suites. They offer outstanding diagnostic services including Laboratory Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Imaging Services such as MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and CT. The Dolly Parton Center for Women s Services features services such as mammograms, biopsies as needed, and bone density exams. The Center also includes the county s only hospital-based Sleep Disorders Center.
