1 SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION National Museum of Natural History, Repatriation Office As of December 31, 2010, the remains of an estimated 5,559 individuals in 5,036 catalog numbers, 182,824 funerary objects in 2,471 catalog numbers, and 52 sacred objects and/or objects of cultural patrimony in 14 catalog numbers have been offered for repatriation by the National Museum of Natural History. Details for the remains and objects found to culturally affiliated and that fall into repatriation categories can be found at Of the remains and objects offered for repatriation, arrangements have been completed with Native Americans for the repatriation of the remains of 3,939 individuals, 91,357 funerary objects, and 52 sacred objects and/or objects of cultural patrimony.
