1 SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION National Museum of Natural History, Repatriation Office As of October 31, 2014, the remains of an estimated 6,007 individuals, 218,733 funerary objects, and 55 sacred objects and/or objects of cultural patrimony have been culturally affiliated and made available for repatriation by the National Museum of Natural History. In addition 25 objects in non statutory categories have been returned to tribes. Details for the remains and objects found to be culturally affiliated and that fall into repatriation categories can be found at Of the remains and objects offered for repatriation, arrangements have been completed with Native Americans for the repatriation of the remains of 4,323 individuals, 118,275 funerary objects, and 55 sacred objects and/or objects of cultural patrimony.
