5 DESIGN CONCEPT Palmyrah; also known in Thai as Ton-Taan, is a large palm tree with deep historical heritage. Growing up as high as 30 meters tall, these majestic palms can be found spread throughout vast rice fields and provide suitable shaded areas to rest under. Palmyrah is a tree that symbolizes wealth and prosperity; its imposing height radiates as an irrepressible symbol of fortune. Its usefulness must also not be underestimated. All parts of the plant can be fashioned into a variety of products: The wood is a good building material, and the leaves can be made into thatching, fans, and umbrellas. Leaf fibers are woven into twine, rope, hats, and mats, and are used to make coarse brushes. The young plants and the flesh and seed of the mature fruit are eaten. Syrup can also be obtained and made into sugar, vinegar and even wine.
