12 On the confluence of the two largest rivers in the Czech Republic, the Elbe and the Vltava, approximately 30 km from Prague, lies the town of Mělník. At this point the Elbe is 261 km from its source.

There was a tradition, when a new member of the Lobkowitz family was born, he or she received a large wine cask, which was filled with wine one year before his or her 18 th birthday to be used in the celebration one year later.

44 The royal free town Ústí nad Labem spreads in a beautiful valley on the confluence of the Bilina and Elbe rivers.

The road from Děčín to Hřensko itself is fascinating for its beautiful scenery of the huge canyon of sandstone rocks. The surrounding rocks rise from canyon up to hundred metres above the river s level. There is also a confluence of the Elbe river and Kamenice river. Hřensko is the lowest situated place in the Czech republic (its altitude is 115 m above sea). The whole village is in the deep gorge along Kamenice river.
