10 PROG Partnership for Regional Ocean Governance Initiated in 2015, the Partnership for Regional Ocean Governance (PROG) is hosted by: Established as a platform at the science, policy, society interface Aim: To identify and promote integrated regional models for cross-sectoral ocean governance and to advance regional cooperation for the conservation and sustainable use of marine ecosystems and resources Focus on facilitating dialogue processes that foster greater regional cooperation and better integrated and coherent governance frameworks at regional and national levels Areas of work: conservation and sustainable use of BBNJ & the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda (Sustainable Development Goals) for the ocean and coasts More information under: Taller CPPS sobre ABNJ 25 de octubre de 2017

14 Aim of the STRONG Project The STRONG High Seas project aims to strengthen regional ocean governance for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ) by developing and proposing targeted measures to support the coordinated development of integrated and ecosystembased approaches for ocean governance in ABNJ within regions in exchange between regions as well as between regions and the global level Source: Taller CPPS sobre ABNJ 25 de octubre de 2017
15 Objectives of the STRONG Project Facilitate the development of comprehensive, crosssectoral approaches to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in ABNJ in the Southeast Atlantic and Southeast Pacific; Identify best practices and provide support to regional institutions and national authorities in the implementation of existing regional instruments and the development of new approaches; Develop possible options for regional governance in a future international instrument under UNCLOS and transfer regional lessons learned to the global level to promote ocean governance at different scales.
