A vacation in Gallura means getting to know the Sardinian culinary traditions, from the simplicity of the locally produced stazzi, the traditional staple of the countryside communities, to the finesse of the speciality fish dishes served along the coast. Exquisite Gallura The region offers you an exquisite culinary experience along with the marvels of Vermentino, one of Gallura s most noble and notable wines. One of the more noteworthy dishes of Gallura tradition is the fragrant suppa cuàta, a tasty oven-baked dish that is made of bread, cheese, and mutton broth. Then there is the zimino, a fish soup that exemplifies superb marine cuisine, as well other specialities such as mussels, sea urchin roe, and of course, the local lobster - the queen of the seabed and the dinner table. Gallura is also the home of famous wines and at the Cellars of Vigne Surrau in Arzachena; you can join a tasting tour of the estate. In nearby Arzachena you will find the cellars of Cantina Capichera, a flag-bearer for Sardinian Vermentino throughout the whole world. In Berchidda on the other hand, another center of excellence in wine production, you can pay a visit to the Museo del Vino, a wine museum with a workshop.
