Be part of this special time in the Holy Land as we celebrate Pastor Thompson s 20th Anniversary at First Fort Lauderdale. This amazing tour will take us throughout the land where Jesus walked: the Sea of Galilee, Jesus birthplace in Bethlehem, His boyhood home in Nazareth, the locations of His early ministry on the seaside and His sermon on the Mount of Beatitudes, the path of His Passion in the Holy City of Jerusalem and more. The cost is $4,250, with a $1,250 deposit due by October 1. Subsequent payments are due November 1 ($1,500) and December 1 ($1,500). These rates are doubleoccupancy (two people per room, each paying $4,250 per person.) Single rooms are available at an additional cost. Space is limited so first-come, first-served. (AFTER October 1, prices are subject to an additional fuel surcharge imposed by the airline.) Mar. 6 (Thursday) Depart from Fort Lauderdale, connect in Newark to overnight flight to Tel Aviv, Israel. Mar. 7 (Friday) Arrive at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv early in the morning. On the way to the Galilee region, we ll tour the seaside port of Caesarea Maritime (an amazing underwater archaeological site) where Paul was imprisoned) and Mount Carmel, a coastal mountain range overlooking the Mediterranean Sea where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal. Early in the evening, we ll check in for dinner and a three-night stay at the Galei Kinnereth on the Sea of Galilee. Mar. 8 (Saturday) - On our first morning in Tiberias, we ll view Kursi and the Golan Heights and travel to the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum (where Peter s mother s house is located), and Tabgha (the place where Jesus multiplied the fishes and loaves). In the afternoon, we ll see an ancient boat from the time of Jesus recently discovered on the shores of the Galilee, and then enjoy a boat ride of our own Galei Kinnereth in Galilee on the same Sea of Galilee where Jesus calmed the waters. We ll conclude the day with a sunset baptism at the Jordan River. (If you would like to be baptized, please bring a bathing suit. Robes will be available.) We ll return to the hotel for dinner. Mar. 9 (Sunday) The day begins with a winding journey up Mount Tababor, where Jesus was transfigured. After descending the mountain, we ll travel to Beit She an, one of the most impressive archaeological sites of the ancient world. From Beit She an, we ll travel to the Church of the Annunciation at Nazareth, the childhood home of Jesus, and Tel Megiddo, the chariot city of Solomon where the Bible prophesies events of the last days. We ll have dinner and our final night at the hotel. Mar. 10 (Monday) We ll depart from Tiberias/Galilee early in the morning, traveling up to the city of Jerusalem. On our way, we ll journey through the Judean desert to Masada, a landmark location where the Jewish people stood heroically against the Roman Empire. Next, we ll go into the Qumran region and see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We ll also travel to Ein Gedi, a waterfall oasis mentioned in the Song of Songs. At the end of the day, we ll check in at the David Citadel Hotel for our four-night stay in Jerusalem and enjoy a welcome dinner together at the hotel. Mar. 11 (Tuesday) Today we ll travel to Bethlehem, where we ll visit the Church of the Nativity and a church near the Shepherd s Fields where the birth of Christ was first heralded. Then we ll travel back to Jerusalem to see a scale model of the First Century city. While at the Israel Museum, we ll see the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Shrine of the Book. We ll return to the hotel for dinner together. Mar. 12 (Wednesday) We continue our time in Jerusalem with a visit to the City of David, the original settlement founded by King David which predates even the Old City. We ll walk through the Old City of Jerusalem to the Southern Steps (by which Jesus would have entered the Temple), the Western Wailing Wall of the Temple Mount, a tunnel traversing the Wall and the beginning of the Via Dolorosa. We ll then travel to the Jerusalem Prayer Center to meet local Christian workers and learn about the International Mission Board s initiative for peace in the Middle East. Dinner will be on your own, not at the hotel. (We ll recommend several good options close to the hotel.) Mar. 13 (Thursday) We ll begin the morning at the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem, then walk down the mountain to the Dominus Flevit Church where Jesus wept over the city. We ll continue to the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane. We ll pray in the garden before traveling by coach to House of Caiphas the High Priest. Then we ll walk the Via Dolorosa and Pilate s Pavement where Jesus was put on trial. We ll travel north to the place of crucifixion known as Calvary and the Garden Tomb. After Holy Communion, we ll return to the hotel. Dinner will be on your own or with friends you ve met (we ll suggest options) and you might also enjoy some evening sights on your own now that you re familiar with the city. Mar. 14 (Friday) Our final day in Jerusalem is a free day, so that you may visit sites at which you d like to spend more time, see something which may have not been on our itinerary, or finalize your shopping. Some Old City options: Christ Church, the Ramparts walk, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Temple Treasures. Jerusalem options: Israel Museum, Yad Vashem, Nablus Road options: Jerusalem Prayer Center, American Colony, Garden Tomb. We ll depart in the early afternoon for dinner and our overnight flight from the airport in Tel Aviv. (Early arrival in South Florida on Saturday, Mar. 15).
