2 We are thankful to all of you as most of you responded to mails and provided the required arrival and departure information to us. If you are still to give these details which is essential for us, please do so immediately. Pune is the 8th largest metropolis in India, the 2nd largest in the state of Maharashtra after Mumbai and the largest city in the Western Ghats. Pune is the cultural capital of Maharashtra, known for various cultural activities like classical music, spirituality, theater, sports, and literature. Pune is the 2 nd city after Delhi in India to get maiden air quality forecasting system (SAFAR) which will be inaugurated and dedicated to nation on 1 st May 2013 in conjunction with C4 inauguration which u will witness yourself. To serve you in the best possible way, we encourage you to kindly note the following: Mumbai Airport pick up If you are flying into Mumbai, you must have already arranged from hotel for a paid car to pick you up and take you to the hotel. If not, do it as soon as possible and Sayaji can still do it. All you need to do is to provide the Sayaji hotel with your arrival time and flight details and someone will be there to pick you up. If you miss it and forced to travel on your own then it is better to contact the prepaid service counters inside the airport itself like budget, Hertz, etc. They will charge you little high but are safe. You may also hire an ordinary taxi from outside arrival gate which may cost you less say around US$100 but it is relatively adventures. The road journey Mumbai-Pune takes about 3.5 hours. This is just for your information. Pune Airport pick up For those of you flying into Pune there is a complimentary shuttle service by hotel Sayaji (if you are staying in this hotel and) which will take you from the airport to the hotel. There is a travel counter of Sayaji inside the arrival gate. Please look for hotel representatives holding the placard displaying IITM". It takes about 40 minutes to reach the SYAJI. Driver will accompany you and help you check in. All those delegates who are sponsored by us and not staying in Sayaji should inform about their travel details to us as soon as possible and LOC will be pleased to provide complementary pick-up service from Airport in PUNE (domestic or international-same). Upon arrival at Pune Airport, please look for a placard displaying C4-IITM held by our representative near the arrival gate. The location of this place is excellent, with very nice open surroundings embedded with fresh less polluted air which is rare in these days. Any other expenses other than the above will have to be borne by you directly with hotel and organizers are not responsible for the same. Hotel has been instructed about the same. Commuting between Hotels and IITM (Venue: Several Buses and Cars are arranged for local transport. You will be provided the free transport bus facility to be picked up from hotel and drop back after the sessions /functions. You are requested to follow the timing mentioned below strictly. Dinner will consist of full range of Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian menu viz. starters, soups, Mocktail (non-alcoholic), soft drink, main course consisting of variety of vegetarian cousin and Indian delicy of Chicken and probably fish along with Desserts. There is no need to RSVP. No formal dress code. After the dinner invitees will be dropped back to the hotel. (4) Excursion cum Banquet Venue: ROYAL AND MAGNIFICIENT FORT JADHAVGARH. 5 The banquet and tour excursion is arranged in the grand historic location of ROYAL AND MAGNIFICIENT FORT JADHAVGARH. 'Fort JADHAVGADH' (Built in 1710 by king Pillaji Jadhavrao) is the first in a series of Heritage forts scheduled in Maharashtra and the Rest of India. Situated in the beautiful rolling hills located 40 km away from IITM, Pune on the old Pune Satara Road at a height of 2511 ft above sea level Fort Jadhavgadh lies in the heart of the Jadhavwadi a 25 acre land. The Fort a fine example of Maratha craftsmanship was built by a man who himself was as strong in mind and body as the stone structure he envisioned to create. The man named Pilaji Jadhavrao - Maratha General in the army of Chatrapati Shahuji, proved his mettle each and every time someone dared to challenge the supremacy of the Maratha ruler. The fort is consisting of a wonderful museum and several unique designed fort locations worth seeing. A guided tour to all these facilities will be arranged. There is a facility for performing dance to depict the culture of your country. Those who are willing to make 10 minutes performance are welcome and requested to come prepared with costumes. There is planned dance activity by our group members also. Transport: After the dinner invitees will be dropped back to the hotel. 4 big AC buses will start directly from IITM (just ourside the Meghdoot complex (venue) after the session at 5.15 PM sharp. Travel time is expected to be around 75 minutes while going (rush hour) and around 60 minutes on return at 11 PM. Conference Facilities The venue of all events and workshop is MEGHDOOT COMPLEX at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Dr. Homi Bhabha Road (locally referred to as Pashan Road), Pune The Meghdoot hall is recently buit and state of the art facility equipped with all modern amanities required for world class conferences. The main sessions and all programs will be in the main hall /shell /auditorium of the Meghdoot complex. Facility for PowerPoint projection is available. All standard media (diskettes, cdroms, dvdroms, usb sticks) will be accepted. Hall has power connectivity at each desk so that you can connect your laptops individually, if required. Medhdoot now also equipped with remote conference call facility by which delegates can listen a presentation made by a person from remote location overseas or internally to lobbies outside. 6 Internet Medhdoot Complex is fully wi-fi connected for internet. For login credential ask reception desk. SAYAJI and NOORYA hotels both have access to the Internet complementary. During meeting at IITM, you can connect your laptops to IITM network for Internet access. Money There are several visa and maestro ATMs all around the city, and also close to IITM, which accept global credit/debit cards. Please note that credit cards are accepted only at large business firms; most shops do business in cash. For changing travellers cheques or foreign currency, you need to visit authorized money exchanging firms (e.g., Thomas Cook) for which we will provide the necessary assistance. You may consider changing a little money at the time of arrival, at the bank in the airport near the arrival gate.
