4 AUTHENTIC THESSALY GERMAN MEDIA VISIT Meteora s unique landscape enchants German TV viewers German private TV channel Sat.1 broadcast a four-minute travel feature on Meteora during a morning programme, produced by journalist Uwe Krist following his visit to the destination in March. The feature focused on the monasteries of Meteora and surrounding area, as well as activities available to travellers, local customs and took viewers all the way to the Thessaly coastline.

6 AUTHENTIC THESSALY GERMAN MEDIA VISIT One million viewers take an inside peek at the monasteries The travel feature was aired on Sat1 s Frühstücksfernsehen, which is broadcast live on weekdays and attracts about 1 million viewers per show. Broadcast 1 million viewers At the top of the rock pillars are ancient monasteries, the Meteora monasteries. Some of them are more than 1,000 years old. Active holidaymakers have a great deal of experiences to choose from here. The height of the rocks is fascinating. There are numerous climbing tours available, which are led by skilled climbers and can be booked on location at every hotel. For summit chasers or hikers, a stunning panorama awaits at all times of the day and throughout the year Back down in the valley, it s worth taking a trip to the village of Kalambaka. Here, at the foot of the rock cliffs, visitors are welcome to enter this church, that dates back almost 1,000. It is a Byzantine jewel

7 UNIQUE WESTERN GREECE GERMAN GROUP TRIP Lifestyle magazine uncovers little-known coastal towns Print Circulation: 293,627 German lifestyle magazine Laviva published a six-page travel feature on Western Greece, written by journalist Nele Marie Brüdgam, following a group media trip. She notes that the western coast is dotted with exceptionally charming towns and beaches where peace reigns supreme. I now make sure I spend at least 10 minutes every day sitting, breathing and looking at a view (or a picture of one, if the real view isn t inspiring). In a double-page cover destination feature for The Sunday Times Travel section, much-loved UK comedian and actress Miranda Hart outlined the reasons it is important to take a holiday and unwind. She recommended Halkidiki as the ideal detox destination, following her late-september visit.

11 HIP ATHENS GERMAN MEDIA VISIT Grazia magazine paints a pretty picture of Autumnal Athens Print Circulation: 180,000 The weather is still warm, hotel prices are reasonable and there s a lot worth seeing (not just ancient sites, though the Acropolis is always worth a visit!). Here are the best Autumn hotspots to visit in the capital The German edition of fashion and lifestyle magazine Grazia published a double-page travel destination feature on the hip face of Athens, highlighting culture and dining recommendations for readers. The story followed a 16-page fashion editorial published in the magazine.

The writer notes an uptick in hotel investment, discerning dining choices and new cultural highlights such as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre.

14 ATHENS MARATHON 2017 Journalists and digital influencers revel in sporty city break Among the 51,000 participants in this year s Athens Marathon were four journalists from Germany, Austria, France and the UK, a German sports blogger and a French sports vlogger. They also explored Athens as part of a sporty city break media trip jointly organised with the Athens-Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association.

15 ATHENS MARATHON - UK MEDIA TRIP Runner s World warms to fun, friendly atmosphere of race Online UVM: 718,521 Read article If any arena can inspire a sprint finish, it is surely the Panatheniac Stadium, the world s largest all-marble structure, which has been standing for almost 2,000 years. In a full-page feature for the UK online edition of popular running magazine Runner s World, journalist Rick Pearson wrote about his experience of participating in the Athens Marathon 10K Road Race, emphasising the friendly atmosphere of the entire event. He noted the fact that the 10K race meant he had the energy and time to also explore the capital.

Ahead of a vlog, she noted how proud she felt that she beat her personal Marathon record and honoured to have had the opportunity to be part of such a historic race. I finished the Athens Marathon!!! My 6th Marathon! So proud to run this legendary marathon, the first in history! A good return from injury and I loved the full km! Plenty of altitude and happiness at 3:28! My best time and the most beautiful arrival in a legendary stadium

17 ATHENS MARATHON FRENCH MEDIA VISIT French runner completes 42k for female running mag Sandrine Nail-Billaud, a French runner and contributing editor in French female running magazine Running pour Elles, shared images of her experience of running the full Athens Marathon. A sports travel destination feature is due to be published in an upcoming issue of the publication. Images from my participation in the Athens Marathon, the slowest and most historic of all of my Marathon running so far... Thanks to Running pour Elles for this experience. 18 ATHENS MARATHON AUSTRIAN MEDIA VISIT Sports magazine features highlight mythical Marathon Online UVM: 15,000 Read article Read article Around 1,000 visitors are on site, including media and representatives of international marathons. The race and the torch-lighting ceremony convey a power and myth with which no other modern sport can compete. Austrian running magazine RunUp published two online stories written by journalist Andreas Maier who ran the full Athens Marathon. One story focused on the torch-lighting ceremony in Marathon and the other on the race experience and the feeling of entering the stadium for the Marathon finish.

He showcased the authentic side of the destination and was impressed with its beauty and historical attractions. Spinalonga Island, also known as the Island of lepers, is a small fortified island. Facing Elounda, in Mirabello Bay, the fort was built by the Venetians in 1579, then occupied by the Turks in 1715 and served as a place of confinement for lepers from 1904 to 1957
