2 WHO ARE WE? Solidarités Jeunesses (SJ) is a non-formal education national movement that values voluntary commitment, strong political will, and social solidarity as its core principles. Our course of action is influenced by our ideal vision of a society where progress is social. Respect for human beings and the environment is a fundamental and shared value, and the freedom to choose, to dream, and to resist is innate and encouraged by all. Our activities are organised for all, regardless of gender, social and cultural background, or nationality. Since its creation, SJ participates in the construction and maintenance of peace by promoting intercultural and international social connections in France and abroad. SJ works through participative pedagogy which supports initiative and personal commitment,and combines the skills and intelligences of all our volunteers, active members and staff. Solidarités Jeunesses is composed of a National Secretary based in Paris, eight regional offices, and one partner association. Our delegations host volunteers from France and from all around the world for short or long periods of time all year round. Furthermore, the partner association and the delegations host and provide assistance to young people with fewer opportunities, as part of our efforts towards inclusion and solidarity. All of our delegations and the partner association are situated in unique environments, such as castles, former camp-sites, isolated villages in the heart of mountains, and former factories. These places have all been renovated thanks to the work of our short and long-term volunteers, workers and permanent staff. SJ has been working in partnership with national and international networks (Cotravaux, CNAJEP, CCIVS, NVDA and Alliance) for several decades. REGIONAL DELEGATIONS VIR'VOLT - SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES ILE DE FRANCE The goal of Vir'Volt association is to boost the dynamic of international workcamps for young volunteers in urban and rural areas of the Ile-de-France region. Vir'Volt wants to mix international participants, youngsters in social exclusion, and local inhabitants. Living together in harmony, where each individual can find his place in the group, no matter where he comes from or where he is going, is the motto. CENTRE DE BEAUMOTTE - SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES FRANCHE-COMTE The Beaumotte Center association was created in 1979 on the site of an old factory on the banks of the "Onion" river. It is located in the village of Beaumotte-Aubertans, a village of 391 inhabitants. The nearest towns are Vesoul (25 Km) and Besançon (30 Km). The association provides a place of respite for those in difficulty,and a training ground for people to develop and test their own abilities. The presence of international volunteers guarantees openness, tolerance of differences, and active solidarity. RESEAU D'ENTRAIDE VOLONTAIRE - SOLIDARITES LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON Founded in 1974 by a small group of locals, the REV became the Languedoc-Roussillon regional delegation of Solidarités Jeunesses national movement in The delegation is based out of two houses located in the centre of the village of Beauvoisin. The smallest house is a permanent home of volunteers, and contains two offices: this is where life takes place in this community of discovery and exchange of traditions, habits, moods, and dreams. Since April 2011, the REV has hosted small groups, a practice that we want to develop in order to facilitate the exchange between people from different cultures, generations, and social backgrounds. 3 The castle of Prureaux is a welcoming place that provides opportunities for everyone to participate in projects and learn how to live and work together in spite of linguistic, socio-cultural or socio-economic differences, and prejudices existing in society. This is an opportunity for people from near and far to share the experience of collective living. The diversity of the inhabitants of the castle is culturally enriching and teaches people how to live together, to exchange their customs and traditions, and to live in respect and tolerance. LA MAISON DES BATELEURS - SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES POITOU-CHARENTES La Maison des Bateleurs, which opened 16 years ago in Montendre, organizes around 15 international workcamps in the region and several other international activities all year long, to ensure multicultural and inter-generational exchanges and active solidarity. In La Maison des Bateleurs, you can find long term volunteers, permanent workers, and groups of young people who come to enjoy the nice environment of the Charente-Maritime region. LES VILLAGES DES JEUNES SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES PROVENCE-ALPES-CÔTE-D'AZUR Les Villages des Jeunes works towards social integration and participation of all. Its objective is to allow people from different social and cultural situations to work together to complete projects beneficial to the community. The association runs two international hosting centres near the Alps: the Faï farm with its singing mountains and the hamlet of Vaunières, an isolated hamlet at an altitude of 1200 meters. CITRUS - SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES MIDI-PYRÉNÉES In 2002, Citrus was established in Toulouse, under the initiative of a group of young volunteers driven by the desire to develop volunteer projects in the Midi-Pyrenées region. In 2012 it moved to Laguépie, a small village 1 hour north-east of Toulouse. The association s various activities bring people to mingle, work, and live together. "Working together" is based on the philosophy that unites long term volunteers, employees in integration projects, permanent staff, and volunteers on international projects. SEM&VOL - SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES IN AQUITAINE Since 2013, Dordogne has held international projects of arts and culture. Following a very positive hosting experience by the local population, a branch of Solidarités Jeunesses was created in Aquitaine in 2015 and then became a regional delegation in During summer, international workcamps about heritage and environment are organized. The goals of this new organization are : developing workcamps and international exchanges, creating a network of local partners, encouraging mobility and youth commitment, and developing artistic and cultural projects in this area. PARTNER ASSOCIATION - NEIGE ET MERVEILLES Neige & Merveilles became a mountainside hosting and entertainment community in Since 2007, Neige & Merveilles conducts actions in favour of sustainable development, renewable energy, development of mining heritage and local history, improved reception conditions, and development of entertainment and leisure practices combining heritage and respect for the environment.

4 VOLUNTEERING Volunteering is an exchange, an encounter, facilitated by someone who wants to offer his or her time, energy, and fresh perspective to a general interest project. Volunteering is also a welcoming community that offers a valuable opportunity for the volunteer to learn, to experiment, and to undergo personal development. Being a volunteer is not merely an activity, but a multi-faceted process brought about by our partner associations before, during, and after the volunteer project is completed. At SJ, volunteering does not mean humanitarian aid, because we do not deal with emergency situations, but rather an intercultural exchange and apprenticeship carried out through meaningful initiatives for local communities. Voluntary service exists almost everywhere in the world and it is a commitment that varies across different countries, cultures, and types of projects. Volunteering brings together diverse communities and separate entities, local associations, men, women, youths, and local authorities. GENERAL INFORMATION Group Life Most of our workcamps bring together between 8 and 15 volunteers of around 5 different nationalities and with an average age of 20. The group is responsible for cooking and cleaning, so volunteers are asked to bring their favourite traditional recipes! Adult workcamps are open to volunteers of 18 years or older and there is usually no age limit unless a specific partner has requested one. Qualifications Camp Leaders Languages We do not ask that volunteers have any particular qualifications, but they must be motivated to help and open to experiencing life as a volunteer in a rural area along with people from diverse backgrounds. A basic knowledge of English and French is helpful. There will be two camp leaders who will accompany the group as they organize aspects of daily life at the workcamp, such as managing the budget, cooking, recreational activities etc...the host community often provides a technical leader for specific manual tasks in order to guide volunteers in the methods and procedures of these tasks. The language used by the group will be dependent on the group itself and on the capacities of each volunteer, but English and French are the most common languages of our projects. Accommodation Volunteers will be hosted in various types of accommodations, including but not limited to rooms provided by the local association, in tents, or in schools, depending on the project and the region. Insurance Leisure Time Solidarités Jeunesses provides insurance for accidents and civil liability (accidents caused by participants, damages that result from the conduct of the insured). This insurance doesn't cover sicknesses that may occur during the stay in the workcamp. Please inform your volunteers that they need to have their own insurance for travel and sickness. Solidarités Jeunesses considers workcamps as an environment for volunteers to experience community life. For this reason, volunteers organize their leisure time activities together in accordance with local conditions, group preferences, and financial resources (budget planning). Opportunities may vary between visiting tourist attractions in the region, discovering the surrounding environment, and organising culture evenings with locals, etc... It is the responsibility of each volunteer to contribute to a positive and lively group dynamic!

6 INTERNATIONAL ADULTS WORKCAMPS SJ01 STEP BY STEP TO THE BALCONIES OF FONTARASSE 24/04/17-28/04/17 ENVI 12 vols 18+ Project: This workcamp is an occasion for a true immersion in nature : it will allow you to discover the beautiful Hautes-Alpes countryside, its fauna and its flora. The proposed work is accessible to all but it involves walking everyday to reach the site half way up the mountain and to be able to witness the progress made. L espace Randonnée (Hiking area) of the Pays du Buech ( brings together five communities of communes in the Hautes Alpes around a common objective : develop, invigorate and promote non-motorised hiking activities (pedestrian, bike tourism, VTT and horse riding), for the purposes of tourism and local development. Due to extensive maintenance work required every year over the 1000 kilometres of trails, Espace Randonnée organises many international workcamps since 2010 in partnership with the association Les Villages des Jeunes ( Work: This workcamp will aim to clear the trails that have been invaded by vegetation, cutting down some trees and pruning. Accommodation: In collective rooms (3 to 5 people per room), in the Hameau de Vaunières. Location: Hameau de Vaunières, Saint Julien en Beauchêne The hamlet of Vaunières is located on the border between Hautes-Alpes and Drôme, and is in the heart of a circus of mountains. The trail of La Fontarasse leads under the farm of Vaunières, towards the beautiful pastures and then the summit of Quigouret. Leisure activities: During your free time, you will be able to enjoy sports activities, and to organize international meals with the local residents. Some other trips might also be organised in order to discover the region. Closest train station: Lus la Croix Haute (26620) Closest airports: Marseille Provence, Lyon Saint Exupéry SJ02 THE SHE-WOLF PACE 08/05/17-21/05/17 RENO 8 vols 18+ Project: This workcamp is an occasion for a true immersion in nature during the day: it will allow you to discover the beautiful Hautes-Alpes countryside, its fauna and its flora, and for some time to exchange with the local inhabitants in the evenings, at the Fai Farm. The proposed work is accessible to all but it involves walking in mountains every day to reach the site of the workcamp. L espace Randonnée (Hiking area) of the Pays du Buech ( brings together five communities of communes in the Hautes Alpes around a common objective : develop, invigorate and promote non-motorised hiking activities (pedestrian, bike tourism, VTT and horse riding), for the purposes of tourism and local development. Closest train station: Serres (05700) Closest airports: Marseille Provence, Lyon Saint Exupéry SJ03 YOUR RENOVATION MISSION 14/05/17-28/05/17 RENO 12 vols 17+ Project: Take part in an enriching experience that will teach you new skills in a communal environment. You will make a valuable contribution to the larger scale project of development and restauration of one of the Maritime Alps heritage sites - the medieval silver mine of Vallauria. The construction of this storage workshop dates back to the mining period at the end of the 19 th century. After its restauration, this building will be used for storing maintenance equipment, as well as the materials and protective equipment necessary for visiting the mine. In addition, it will be used to house any material uncovered during archaeological digs within and around the mine. Work: You will work on the building s exterior. Plastering and repointing each of the building s facades using lime mortar. You will also build a structure which will reinforce the East façade of the building. This workcamp involves 4 days of work per week, from 08:30 12:00 and 14:00 17:30. A technical leader will accompany you during your working day.

7 Accommodation and food: You will be sharing a room with 3-4 other volunteers. Bathrooms are also shared. Meals are prepared by our kitchen staff. You will be asked to lend a hand with the preparation of some food, tidying the dining area, and washing the dishes. Location: Tende (06430) - 2 hours from Nice by train. The organisation Neige et Merveilles is situated at metres of altitude in an isolated mountainous area, 10 km from the Closest village of Tende, and 50 km from Vintimille (Italy). Leisure activities: You will discover the regional mountainous environment and sporting activities: hiking/ guided tour in the Vallée des Merveilles in the Mercantour National Park, swimming in the Bendola river, visiting local villages (Tende, La Brigue, Saorge), trying the Via Feratta and in the evenings, enjoying dance, photo-video sessions, stargazing, board games, barbecue, international meals. One day per week in addition to the weekend will be dedicated to activities outside of the workcamp. Specific requirements: Possibility of working on scaffolding; low height. Closest train station: Tende (06430) Closest airport: Nice SJ04 A FISTUL OF LIME 14/05/17-28/05/17 RENO 12 vols 17+ Project: You will participate in the construction of a welcome centre and exhibition space that will benefit the association s educational events, and will offer a new cultural element to our current program which includes a centre of documentation for past historical and archaeological work, conferences, educational content for children and teenagers, scientific publications concerning geological and mining heritage. Work: You will restore this building s facades using lime mortar. The work will include removing outer layers of plaster, recovering the boards of the framework, reworking the plaster joints, using repointing mortar to repair the stonework wall and brushing the mortar joints. This workcamp involves 4 days of work per week, from 08:30 12:00 and 14:00 17:30. A technical supervisor will accompany you during your working day. Accommodation and food: You will be sharing a room with 3-4 other volunteers. Bathrooms are also shared. Meals are prepared by our kitchen staff. You will be asked to lend a hand with the preparation of some food, tidying the dining area, and washing the dishes. Location: Tende (06430) - 2 hours from Nice by train. SJ05-1 HISTORICAL WANDERINGS IN CLAUSONNE ABBEY 1 21/05/17-03/06/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ SJ05-2 HISTORICAL WANDERINGS IN CLAUSONNE ABBEY 2 04/06/17-18/06/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ SJ83 HISTORICAL WANDERINGS IN CLAUSONNE ABBEY 3 07/10/17-20/10/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ Project : The Clausonne abbey is situated in the Saix, a small village in the canton of Veynes in the Hautes- Alpes. Today, only the remnants of this 12th century building are found as the abbey was destroyed, burnt, rebuilt and finally used as a farm and school in the 19th century. Clausonne remains, however, a remarkable site, sharing the beauty of the wildness that surrounds it : situated at 1200m of altitude, in the heart of a vast «circus» of mountains, the abbey became the route point for numerous hikers that visit the Haute vallée of Maraize. Thus, rather than letting the vegetation once again cover the ruins of Clausonne, 20 years ago, the inhabitants of Saix founded an association in order to highlight and maintain this site. Progressively, thanks to numerous international workcamps that have worked there, this place lives again and is currently open from April to October. The workcamps organised at the Clausonne site are received by the hosting centre of the Faï farm, not far from there. The Faï is an extraordinary place where you will meet young people in difficulty, employees in training as well as professional artists or long term volunteers. We hope that during your stay at the Fai you will bring your willingness and good humour to contribute to the spirit of encounter and of teamwork that enlivens this place. Work: In 2017, the work will concern the accessibility of the site and its visibility for hikers. You will highlight the vestiges of the pit by clearing and securing existing walls. You will make a path in the abbey's vestige and will discover the technical creation of a pebble way. You will also participate in the preservation of the carved stone. A final phase will emphasize an old barn from the abbey which will serve as a technical room.

8 Accommodation: In tents at the Faï farm, in rooms you will share with 2 to 7 other volunteers. Location: Clausonne, 5km from the village of Saix, 30km from Gap, 200km from Marseille. Leisure activities: Located in a remarkable natural environment, Clausonne is an exceptional place to discover the pleasures of mountain hiking and life in a rural area, with its local markets and producers. In the evenings, at the Ferme du Faï, you will be able to organise games, international meals and project movies. During the workcamp, touristic outings to discover the towns and villages of the region may also be organised. Closest train station: Veynes Dévoluy Closest airports: Marseille Provence, Lyon Saint Exupéry SJ06 LE FORT DE L'AIGUILLE 1 22/05/17-12/06/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ SJ09 LE FORT DE L'AIGUILLE 2 15/06/17-06/07/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ Project: Located at the mouth of the Charente river, the peninsula of Fouras-les-Bains contains three harbours and five beaches along the Atlantic coast. In an idyllic setting with views of Fort Boyard, you will work on the rehabilitation of the Fort of the Aiguille. This fort is a redoubt, a fortification system built by the French military engineer Vauban. The redoubt protected Fouras from a potential enemy sea invasion. Work: This project is a continuation of the work undertaken last year by the volunteers. You will work on the restoration of a new part of the main facade of the redoubt. You will help the technical leader to remove plants from the facade, and to remove and replace the chalk mortar joints between the stones. Other works of traditional masonry are also planned, such as redoing the stone coping (top layer of the wall) and stonecutting. Accommodation: in groups, in tents on Fouras campground *** (swimming pool, multi-sports space, WIFI, snacks...) Location: Fouras-les-Bains, Charente-Maritime, located 20 km from La Rochelle Leisure activities: If you like the beach, ocean and shells, you can spend every free minute enjoying them! You can also visit the Île d'aix, a small car-free island in the middle of the ocean, by boat. Since it is also a popular sea-side resort, you will have the opportunity to participate in the summer events during the month of June. Closest train station: Rochefort (17300) Closest airport: Bordeaux SJ07 THE MERCANTOUR SILVER MINE 1 28/05/17-11/06/17 RENO 12 vols 17+ Project: You will participate in the restauration of a site that represents an example of remarkably well conserved historical and geological heritage, and is one of the most important mines in the Alps. The Vallauria mine was exploited for its galena (silver-bearing lead), and blend (zinc based mineral) from the Middle Ages until Since 2011, volunteers have been reviving the accessibility to this site, both above and underground. Archaeological digs have also been taking place at the site since Work: You will be working underground at the entrance to the Pozetto mining gallery. You will continue the work of securing the accessibility to the entrance of this gallery, which will later become the starting point of guided visits. You will build a ramp leading into the mine in order to continue the work carried out last year, which includes constructing plastered stone walls and extending the staircase. This workcamp involves 4 days of work per week, from 08:30 12:00 and 14:00 17:30. A technical supervisor will accompany you during your working day. This workcamp will be archaeologically monitored. Accommodation and food: You will be sharing a room with 3-4 other volunteers. Bathrooms are also shared. Meals are prepared by our kitchen staff. You will be asked to lend a hand with the preparation of some food, tidying the dining area, and washing the dishes. Location: Tende (06430) - 2 hours from Nice by train. The organisation Neige et Merveilles is situated at metres of altitude in an isolated mountainous area, 10 km from the Closest village of Tende, and 50 km from Vintimille (Italy). Leisure Activities: You will discover the Alpine environment, as well as the the region s historical and cultural heritage. You will also be able to participate in other activities such as hiking in the Vallée des Merveilles in the Mercantour National Park, swimming in the Bendola river, visiting local villages (Tende, La Brigue, Saorge), tying the Via Feratta and in the evenings, enjoying dance, photo-video sessions, stargazing, board games, barbecue, international meals, etc. One day per week in addition to the weekend will be dedicated to activities outside of the workcamp. SJ08 THE SOUTHERN ALPS THROUGH HIKING TRAILS 04/06/17-17/06/17 ENVI 12 vols 18+

9 Project: This workcamp is an occasion for a true immersion in nature during the day : it will allow you to discover the beautiful Hautes-Alpes countryside, its fauna and its flora and for some time to exchange with the local inhabitants in the evenings. The proposed work is accessible to all but it involves walking in mountains every day to reach the site of the workcamp. L espace Randonnée (Hiking area) of the Pays du Buech ( brings together five communities of communes in the Hautes-Alpes around a common objective : develop, invigorate and promote non-motorised hiking activities (pedestrian, bike tourism, VTT and horse riding), for the purposes of tourism and local development. In the face of extensive maintenance work required every year over the 1000 kilometres of trails, since 2010 l espace Randonnée organises many international volunteer workcamps in partnership with the association Les Villages des Jeunes ( Work: This workcamp will aim to clear the trails that have been invaded by vegetation, cutting down some trees, pruning, and marking a trail called Red Cap. In this village, that relies on the Drôme Provençale, the encounter of forest and wild mountains creates diversity. Every morning, the team will leave to the work site half way up the mountain and will be able to witness the progress made. Accommodation: In tents, on a campground. Location: L épine (27 km from Veynes; 25 km from Laragne Montéglin). Leisure activities: During your free time, you will be able to go swimming in the river around the area, to enjoy sports activities, and to organize international meals with the local residents. Some other trips might also be organised during weekends in order to discover the region. Closest train station: Serres (05700) Closest airports: Marseille Provence, Lyon Saint Exupéry SJ12 AN UNUSUAL DESTINATION 07/06/17-28/06/17 RENO 15 vols 18+ Project: Thanks to this workcamp, you will be immersed in the heart of French rurality life. It is in our countryside where we can shake people's minds and work for the acceptance of cultural and human differences. You will live with ten international and French volunteers who chose to participate in the realization of a dream: building peace in the world. Some of them will stay in the village for 6 months, others will stay for 1 year. This group will welcome you at home for three weeks. You will be integrated into their daily life. Work: Every week, a big market is organized in the heart of the village, under a large market hall. One of the market stone walls is not very clean. You will be in charge of renovating the seals between the stones. You will be accompanied by a technical leader. On site, you will have the opportunity to meet the local people who will most certainly be delighted and pleasantly surprised by your initiative. Accommodation: You will sleep in the House of Companions with long-term volunteers, in large dormitories. You will have to cook in teams in the collective kitchen. You will have access to the sanitary facilities (showers and toilets) of the house. Location: The picturesque village of Laguépie is located 100 km north-east of Toulouse, between Rodez and Montauban and near Albi. Leisure activities: You will choose with your group the activities that you wish to do. Get involved in a local project! In the far West of the Dordogne region, La Roche-Chalais is a village of 3000 inhabitants, crossed by the Greenwich meridian. It is a village built on a limestone promontory, overlooking the river "Dronne" and surrounded by beautiful forests. The Municipality team is committed in areas related to youth and is happy to welcome you during these three weeks of workcamp. Work: You will work on cleaning and clearing a hiking trail so local people can use it again during the summer time. Your work will have a direct impact and will make the track practicable for the full season. On the menu: cleaning, pruning and clearing! On the way, you will restore an old bread oven, located on the path: the chance to highlight the local heritage. This work does not require any special technical skills, only motivation! SJ10 THE STORMING OF THE ASPREMONT TOWER 25/06/17-15/07/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ Project: The town of Aspremont, a small locality of 320 residents located in the Buëch valley (Hautes-Alpes), bought the remains of a castle overlooking the town. Soon afterwards, a small group of residents was formed with the shared purpose of creating places for walking and hosting outdoor cultural events. In order to encourage the local population to take part in this project, and given the extent of the work to be completed, the town approached the association les Villages des Jeunes to request that an international youth workcamp be put in place. Overlooking the village, on a promontory with a stunning view of Aspremont, the castle was probably built to control the routes from Sisteron, from Gap, and from the Cabre pass. The ruins that exist recall the architecture of the 16th century, but the first construction of the castle is thought to have begun in the Middle Ages. Work : This year, the workcamp will focus on the remains of the cistern and its surrounding wall. Consolidation work on the bay of the southeast tower will also be carried out. This work will allow you to discover techniques of traditional masonry and protection of the medieval built heritage. Accommodation: in a camping ground, near the village of Aspremont. Le Lardin-St-Lazare is a small village of Dordogne, near the Black Périgord, formerly called " the city of paper " because of its huge paper factory. Between river and hills, various hamlets make the municipality, among which Saint-Lazare, sitting on the hillside. The inhabitants are looking forward to meeting you! Work: You will work on clearing the Rieu, small stream situated below Saint-Lazare. The technical supervision will be made by the team of the Mixed-Union of the Vézère: you will clean, and reveal the banks and brook and facilitate the access. During your stay, the artistic event "Saint-Lazare Déambule" will take place, allying several live performances in the hamlet: you will be actively involved in the organization of this festival, in partnership with the association "La Ruche à Brac". Accommodation: In a shared room, in the former school of Saint-Lazare, with kitchen and sanitary facilities access. Location: Le Lardin-Saint-Lazare is 25km away from Brive-La-Gaillarde and 50km away from Sarlat-la- Caneda and Perigueux. Since 2011, volunteer workcamps have been reviving the accessibility to this site, both above and underground. Archaeological digs have also been taking place since The Vallauria mine was exploited between the middle ages and Today the site represents an example of remarkably well conserved historical and geological heritage, and is one of the most important mines in the Alps. Work: You will be working underground at the entrance of the Pozetto gallery. You will work on making the entrance of this mining gallery more secure and accessible. It will become the entrance for the guided visits. You will be building a descending ramp which will form a pathway (lined with mortared walls), and

11 lengthening the staircase which was worked on last year. The materials (sand and lime) for this project will be delivered to the site by helicopter. You will be working four days per week from 08:30 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:30. You will be accompanied by a technical supervisor and this work-camp will be archaeologically monitored. Neige et Merveilles is situated at metres of altitude in an isolated mountainous area, 10 km from the Closest village of Tende, and 50 km from Vintimille (Italy). Leisure activities: The program of activities that we offer will allow you to discover the Alpine environment where we are located, as well as the discovery of the region s historical and cultural heritage. Discovering the mining village and previous work carried out at the site will be an important part of your stay. SJ17 DISCOVERING THE BOCAGE 03/07/17-23/07/17 RENO-ENVI 12 vols 18+ (to be confirmed) Project : The community of communes of the Bocage Bourbonnais is engaged in policies of animation and promotion of their territory. Therfore, it organizes a workcamp every year to give volunteers the chance to explore the beautiful region that gave birth to the Bourbon dynasty (king of France during the XVI XIX centuries). This year, the workcamp will take place in two different towns. Work : In the first town, Saint Plaisir, you will repair and mark up a walking trail. You will also work on restoring the church's doors by repainting them with natural ochre paint that you will make beforehand. In the second town, Bourbon l Archambault, you will clean up a community living-room. The work will consist of building partitions, painting, and you may also participate in the reparation of a dry-stone wall. Accommodation and food : In multi-purpose rooms of different villages. The food will be provided, and the meals will be prepared by rotating groups of volunteers. SJ18 A STORY ABOUT WATER 03/07/17-23/07/17 RENO-ENVI 12 vols 18+ Project : The city of Saint-Yorre, known for its natural springs, has recently bought the park of Larbaud where one of these natural springs flows. This old thermal bath park is a magnificent place. Therefore, the town wishes to renovate the park and make it a convivial place for the local residents. For 4 years now, the town and local authorities have invited young volunteers to accompany and help them complete this project. Work : This year, the workcamp will work on re-opening an old path leading to the park that used to link to the thermal baths in the Larbaud Villa, located in the higher elevations of the park. The work will consist of removing the vegetation that is obstructing the old pathway, and of facilitating the circulation of pedestrain walkways. You may also participate in small demolition works at the Larbaud Villa that will restore the once spacious interiors. Finally, you will organize a festival that is set up each year to encourage the local residents to visit and to meet the volunteers working on the restoration of this place. The festival will take place in an exceptional setting of 8 hectares located in the Beaufief park, in Mazeray (behind the castle). Organized by the Association of Beaufief Leisure Centre, an association that works to develop a real animation of the local life, this festival is a unique opportunity to live together and experience a time of sharing and conviviality.

12 Work: You will work with volunteers, children and, youth of the Beaufief leisure center, on the preparation and the implementation of the festival. The work will consist of cleaning the park and making it attractive, and setting up the stages and stands. During the festival, you will be required to host the public and help the volunteers, and you will have the chance to perform on an open stage. So artists, get ready! After the event, you will help on cleaning up the site. Following the festival, you will organize exchanges with children from the leisure center. Activities, games, and moments of sharing and living together will enrich this cultural experience! A local youth association, Loisirs Jeunes, which organizes activities for local young people, is proposing to build a give-box with the help of an international workcamp. This shelter will be used as a storage for things that people want to get rid of but that can be used by other people. Work: With the support of a professional technical leader, you will build a wooden shelter, used as the givebox, in a garden near the townhall. You will also build all the necessary arrangements inside. During the whole project, you will work with local youngsters. Accommodation and food: You will sleep on mattresses in a big activity room. You need to bring along a sleeping bag. The building has toilets, showers and a kitchen. Food will be provided and cooked by the volunteers in turns. Location: The town of Nanteuil-les-Meaux is located 55 km east from Paris and 4 km from the town of Meaux. Leisure activities: During the workcamp you will be able to take part in cultural outings and activities organized with local young people and by local partners. You will have opportunities to discover the local heritage, such as the cathedral of Meaux. Other free-time activities will be organized collectively, depending on the wishes of the group and the available budget. SJ23 BE PART OF IT 08/07/17-29/07/17 RENO 12 vols 18+ Project: This is the second time that the town of Frederic-Fontaine hosts an international workcamp. The first year was a success, so the villagers are impatiently waiting to meet you. Work: You will enovate the pavement of two fountains, located in the centre of the village. You will be introduced to the masonry techniques on cutting and posing stones. Accommodation and food: On camp beds in the local festival hall. Remember to bring your sleeping bag and a pillow. A kitchen will be arranged in the school's courtyard. You will be encouraged to be a part of the collective life. Therefore, you will be in charge of the kitchen and the stewardship, from time to time. Food will be taken care of. You will take showers in the villagers' houses, creating one more occasion for sharing and exchange. Location: Frederic-Fontaine, at 10 km from Ronchamp and 30 km from Belfort. Leisure activities: The town and its inhabitants want you to have a unique experience. With them, you will have the occasion to visit touristic sites in Franche-Comté. If the weather allows, walks and swimming will be organized. You will be able to visit the city of Belfort, the chapel of Ronchamp, and to organize the traditional international meal. They chose to organize an international workcamp in order to create an international dynamism in the village. Work: You are going to renovate the railings of the town's ancient museum, situated in the center of the village. The town wishes to bring back its proper level of quality. The work is mainly composed of painting.

13 Accommodation and food: You are going to sleep on mattress in the ancient museum, which will be arranged for the occasion. A kitchen will also be arranged on the same site. Remember to bring your sleeping bag and a pillow. You will take showers in the villagers houses, creating another occasion for exchange and sharing. With the group leaders, you will also create the menus and alternate shifts in the kitchen. Meals with the locals will often be scheduled in order to help you build a relationship with them, and to discover the local gastronomy. Leisure activities: July is a month rich with vitality for the village: the 14th of July ball, the sport tournament you will be invited to some events, which will give you the oppotunity to build a closer relationship with the villagers. Ten years of renovation, sharing, construction of peace and strong bonds between villagers and volunteers. So come and join us! Work: You are going to continue the renovation of Street Saint Desle's gutter, which began last year. In a multicultural and heterogeneous group, you will learn how to work in a team. You will also learn both, masonry and the proper way to cut stones. Although the workcamp doesn't require any specific competence, the work will be a bit physical and subject to the local weather. Leisure activities: With the help of the villagers, you're going to have the possibility to discover touristic places in the region: among them the historic citadelle in Besançon and the chapel of Ronchamp. But it will also be on you, the volunteers, to propose activities. The villagers are very engaged in the life of the workcamp. They will invite you for dinner, an aperitif, or a coffee. Effervescent during summer time, this area is very busy all the year long. Work: You will work on the renovation of two wash houses of the municipality, situated in the center of the village: you will clean the access and will make some stonework. You will give brightness back to this local heritage, which the inhabitants and the visitors of the whole world come to admire. Many festive events are organized in Les Eyzies throughout the summer, and you will be invited to contribute to the organization: the greatest occasion to create links with the inhabitants.
