Importance of the station/town/city : Amritsar historically also known as Rāmdāspur and colloquially as Ambarsar, is a city in north-western part in India and the administrative headquarters of the Amritsar district in the state of Punjab. According to the 2011 census, the population of Amritsar was 1,132,761. The city is situated 217 km (135 mi) northwest of state capital Chandigarh. It is near Pakistan, with the Wagah Border being only 28 km (17.4 mi) away. The nearest city islahore, the second largest city in Pakistan, located 50 km (31.1 mi) to the west. Amritsar is home to the Harmandir Sahib (commonly known as the Golden Temple), the spiritual and cultural center for the Sikhreligion. 16 1. Importance of the station : Suratgarh had been a significant arena of historical incidences in the ancient past. The city was once called Sodal. Around 3000 BC Suratgarh is believed to have been a lush, green place due to the presence of two big rivers, Sarasvati and Drishvati. Present sand possessed various botanical and zoological species within the basins of chaste Sarasvati and Drishvati. 20 1. Importance of the station: Hissar, is the administrative headquarters of Hisar district in the state of Haryana in northwestern India. It is located 164 kilometres to the west of New Delhi, India's capital, and has been identified as a counter-magnet city for the National Capital Region to attract migrants and develop as an alternative centre of growth to Delhi. As of June 2012, Hisar is India's largest galvanized ironmanufacturing city. Due to presence of a large steel industry, it is also known as "The City of Steel". 24 1. Importance of the station: Falna is a town in Pali District in Indian state of Rajasthan. It is an important railway station on Ahmedabad- Jaipurrailway line. Falna is 75 km from the district headquarters of Pali. Falna is the nearest railhead to famous Ranakpur temples. The temples are 35 km from Falna. It lies in the region of Bundelkhand on the banks of the Pahuj River, in the extreme south of Uttar Pradesh. Jhansi is the administrative headquarters of Jhansi districtand Jhansi division. Called the Gateway to Bundelkhand, Jhansi is situated between the rivers Pahuj and Betwa at an average elevation of 285 metres (935 feet). It is about 415 kilometres (258 mi) from New Delhi and 292 kilometres (181 mi) from Lucknow. The original walled city grew around its stone fort which crowns a neighbouring rock. The ancient name of the city was Balwantnagar. From 1817 to 1854, Jhansi was the capital of the princely state of Jhansi which was ruled by Maratha rajas. The state was annexed by the British Governor General in 1854; Damodar Rao's claim to the throne was rejected but Rani Lakshmibai ruled it from June 1857 to June Jhansi is well connected to all other major towns in Uttar Pradesh by road and railway networks. The National Highways Development Project has supported development of Jhansi. Kashmir to Kanyakumari passes through Jhansi as does the East-West corridor; consequently there has been a sudden rush to infrastructure and real estate development in the city. 41 Khalilabad :- Importance of the station/town/city (Brief about its historic, tourist, business, religious importance, etc. Khalilabad (Hindi: ) is a city and a municipal board in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is the district headquarters of Sant Kabir Nagar district. It is located near Maghar which is associated with famous 15th century enlightened Saint, mystic poet and philosopher Kabir. He chose this place for his later years of life. Kabir,s burial place in Maghar attracts a large number of pilgrims. Khalilabad lies on the Faizabad-Gorakhpur road and is around 36 km west of Gorakhpur and 36 km east of Basti. This is the center point of Gorakhpur and Basti The town is small but has a history which can be traced back to Mughal emperors. The place derives its name from its founder, Qazi Khailil-ur-Rahman, who was appointed chakladar of Gorakhpur about 1860 A D. At present this place is more famous for its handloom cloth market, popularly known as Bardahia Bazar.
