PRIRODE PODGORICA, 27-28, (2004), ON DISTRIBUTION OF SOME BALKAN ENDEMIC AND RARE SPECIES IN THE FLORA OF MONTENEGRO* Sead HADŽIABLAHOVIĆ 1 & Zlatko BULIĆ 1 S y n o p s i s On the basis of floristic investigation and data from the literature, new distribution maps for Montenegro are presented for the following Balkan endemic taxa: Draba korabensis, Ramonda serbica and Romulea linaresii subsp. graeca. The taxa with insufficiently known distribution or considered as rare up-to-now in the flora of Montenegro were discovered: Neatostema apulum, Trigonella gladiata, Sternbergia lutea, Ononis pusilla and Polygala supina. S i n o p s i s O RASPROSTRANJENJU NEKIH BALKANSKO- ENDEMIČNIH I RIJETKIH VRSTA U FLORI CRNE GORE Na osnovu florističkih istraživanja i podataka iz literature date su nove mape rasprostranjenja za Crnu Goru za sljedeće balkansko-endemične taksone: Draba korabensis, Ramonda serbica i Romulea linaresii subsp. graeca. 3 HADŽIAB. & BULIĆ: On the distrib. of some endemic and rare species 45 INTRODUCTION The intensive investigation of the flora on the whole territory of Montenegro permanently reveal new information for the distribution of endemic and rare species in some regions. The most complete data on the flora of Montenegro are given in Hayek s ''Prodromus Florae Peninsulae Balcanicae'' ( ) and in Rohlena s ''Conspectus Florae Montenegrinae'' (1942). The complete review on the floristic and vegetation investigation in Montenegro was given by Pulević (1980, 1985) and Pulević & Bulić (2004). New localities (UTM grid) for three Balcan endemic plant taxa and five plant taxa which are considered as rare up-to-now in the territory of Montenegro are discussed. MATERIAL AND METHODS Herbarium material collected during our investigation is deposed in the Republic Institution for the Protection of Nature in Podgorica. Known distribution of these taxa is shown on the UTM grid of Montenegro. Nomenclature and taxonomical status of treated taxa are given conveniently Tutin et al. (1980, 1993). Data about geographical distribution for Europe are given according to Tutin et al. (1980, 1993). Boraginaceae RESULTS Neatostema apulum (L.) I. M. Hadžiablahović. The first finding of the species for the territory of Montenegro was given by Studniczka (1890: 68): Dobrota and Škaljari near Kotor, Grbalj

Montenegro: Prokletije mts., Bogićevica mt. (UTM DN 21), fissure of silicious rocks, alt. c m, , leg. S. Hadžiablahović, D. Lakušić, Niketić, Bulić, Tomović, Conti; det. S. Hadžiablahović. According to Akeroyd (1993: 372) the area of distribution of this species is 'Mountains of N. part of Balkan penninsula Al Bu Ju'. In the territory of all former Yugoslavia the species was known for the Republic of Macedonia (Hayek 1925: 448, Micevski 1995: 697) and Kosovo (Diklić 1972: 324). The first data about the presence of D. korabensis in the territory of Montenegro was given by Mayer (1966: 30) - locality: Prokletije mts., Starac bellow Čakor mt., fissure of silicious rocks, alt. c m (leg. A. Martinčić). Our finding is the second one in the territory of Montenegro. Gesneriaceae Ramonda serbica Pančić Montenegro: Podgorica, Kuće Rakića (Ujkići), close to the river Cijevna - left bank, (UTM CM 59), on limestone rocks, , leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović; Montenegro: Podgorica, Milješ (Rastrim), left bank of the river Cijevna, (UTM CM 69), on limestone rocks, , leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović. The first data about presence of R. serbica (sub R. nathaliae) in Montenegro were published by Baldacci (1900): on declivities of Mt. Rumija above Bar, on localities Bijela Skala, Mali Mikulić, Lisinj, Medjuriječka planina etc. Pulević (1983: 48) gave new localities of the species for Montenegro: north declivities of Mt. Rumija above Lake Skadar near village Murići ; Pulević & Lakušić (1983: 22): canyon of the river Cijevna - upward from village Dinoše and near the village Šumice ; Petković & al. (1986: 7): canyon of Bukovička river, left tributary of Ibar river between villages Vuča and Crnokape near Rožaje. Finally, Stevanović & Bulić ( : 9) gave new locality: canyon of Mala Rijeka, below village Preljubovica (Bratonožići), on limestone rocks, alt. c. 190 m.

5 HADŽIAB. & BULIĆ: On the distrib. of some endemic and rare species 47 It is very interesting that in our localities the species grows on almost open habitats close to the river Cijevna (c. 5 to 6 m far from the river s water in summer but in the course of autumn and winter the species is close to the river s water). Hayek, Ascherson et Graebner e Montenegro indicata; verosimiliter ad Bar et Ulcinj, sed locus mihi ignotus. The new date on the presence of O. pusilla in Montenegro gave Pulević, (in press) - Piperi: on the road Gornji Crnci - Zadolje. Trigonella gladiata Steven ex Bieb. Montenegro: Podgorica, Kuće Rakića, close to vineyard (UTM CM 59), , leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović. For the territory of Montenegro the species was known only for two localities: around Herceg Novi (Brančik in Hirc 1912: 50). Iridaceae Romulea linaresii Parl. subsp. graeca Béguinot Montenegro: Podgorica, Omerbožovići (UTM CM 59), Chrysopogoni- Satureion, , leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović; Montenegro: Podgorica, Tuški put (UTM CM 59), Pinus halepensis park-forest, , leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović & N. Šurbanovski; Montenegro: Podgorica, Dinoško polje (UTM CM 69), alt. c. 50 m, , leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović. According to Marais (1980: 100) the area of distribution of this species is Rocky and grassy places. Greece and Aegean region.

6 48 Glas. republ. zavoda zašt. prirode 27-28/94-95 First finding of the species for the territory of all former Yugoslavia was given by Pulević (1982: 88) - Montenegro: In coll. Velje Brdo ad pagum Vranići (non proc. urb. Titograd = Podgorica). In saxosis herbosis in veget. Stipo-Salvietum officinalis (leg. V. Pulević, ). Stešević (2002: 25) gave new record of the species for the hill Gorica near Podgorica. Pulević (1982: 89) emphasized that his finding of R. linaresii subsp. graeca is northernmost and north-westernmost point in the area of the subspecies and he assumed expectation of it on a lot of localities in Mediterranean and sub Mediterranean areas of Albania and Montenegro. Our findings of new localities of the subspecies confirmed this expectation. In our first locality the subspecies covered area of c. 10 m 2 with 25 to 50 specimens per m 2, while in the second locality we found only a few specimens. Amaryllidaceae Sternbergia lutea (L.) For the territory of Montenegro the species was known on the following localities: Herceg Novi (Studniczka 1890: 960); around Bar (Rohlena 1942: 438); Cijevna river: Rakići: right bank, near waterfall (Pulević & Lakušić 1983: 23); Podgorica: Duklja (Pulević); Spuž: Spuška glavica; Podgorica: canyon of the river Ribnica (Pulević verbal announcement) Polygalaceae Polygala supina Schreber Montenegro: canyon of Cijevna river, Tamara (UTM CM 79), October 2002, leg. V. Pulević, det. S. Hadžiablahović; Montenegro: Podgorica, Dinoša (UTM CM 69), left bank of Cijevna river, September 2004, leg. et det. S. Hadžiablahović & Z. Bulić. For the territory of Montenegro the species was known only for one locality: 'in rupestr. regionis subalpinae Vunsaj prope Gusinje' (leg. Dörfler, Rohlena 1942: 119; sub P. supina Schreb. var. bosniaca (Murb.) Hay.).
