3 PROJECT BACKGROUND & GOALS Novi Sad is capital / administration centre of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina which is an example how people from 27 different national groups can live and function together. This makes a unique atmosphere and culture of living and we are proud on it. That's why we would like to cherish this and transfer it to new generation of young people. The current situation is that on the street s more and more rarely we can hear Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak or Czech language which was adorned Novi Sad as centre of education, economy and culture in Vojvodina. Problem is that Vojvodinian minorities is shrinking, and in that way Vojvodinian heritage is also shrinking. We think that we should make effort in working with youth so they could understand and learn about other neighbouring cultures and in same time those cultures learn more about Serbian culture. That s why we came up with a solution to create a project which will base on peer learning about neighbouring cultures, sharing culture heritages and social inclusion of young people. By learning from each other young people will have a possibility to experience intercultural encounters, transnational mobility, experience European cultures and citizenship and develop their personal competences. Based on that we set next objectives of this project: 1. Support participants acquisition of learning outcomes in order to improve their personal development and become active citizens in community; 2. Raise participant s awareness and understanding of other cultures through offering them possibilities to build networks of international contacts and develop sense of European citizenship and identity.

Each country / partner needs to select, prepare and send 5 young people + 1 group leader who need to be above 18 years old. If partners have difficulties to find youngsters in targeted age (17-24 y.o.), you can select other young people between years old.

7 ABOUTH HOST ORGANIZATION The Center for Youth and Social development RES POLIS was founded by young people on Members of RES POLIS want to contribute to more active participation of youth in society, by their activism and commitment. MISSION: RES POLIS wants crucial changes in society by strengthening of the influence of youth policy. By organizing non-formal learning activities (further: NFL) and active participation of young people, we improve their individual skills. As a result, society will have self-conscious, initiative young people, capable of changing themselves, their environment and whole society. OBJECTIVES: The motivation of the citizens, development of cultural, social and sport awareness, education of youth and sustainable development, youth policy, problems and needs of young people, international cooperation and mobility of young people. From its beginnings RES POLIS has fought for rights of young people and their better opportunities. We were one of the founding organizations who have established a National Association of Youth Work Practitioners ( NAPOR on Serbian) in Serbia. NAPOR made a basis for recognition of youth work as a profession and began an accreditation process of its organization. RES POLIS is one of the first ones who were accredited. Further we were 2 times in a row a resource centre for youth organizations in 1 of 25 counties in Serbia. We also actively worked on creation of Local strategy plan for youth in city of Novi Sad. In that process we led the field of youth unemployment. Most recently we become a monitoring organization selected by city of Novi Sad with task to monitor implementation of dozens of youth project funded by city based on local strategy that we have worked on and consult young organization how to tackle implementation process. Based on our experience work till now our strongest fields are: youth work, youth unemployment and youth policy. 8 ABOUT BEČEJ On the right bank of the Tisa has always been a large settlement, the city Pannonian type, one of the largest in the Tisa, economic, social and cultural center of this part of Vojvodina - Bečej. Bečej was a convenient geographic position at the crossroads of rail and road routes, the artificial canals and the river Tisza. Bečej is a town more than 900 years. It contains many cultural and historical monuments. In the city center stands its monumental Serbian Orthodox Church. It was built in 1858 and was made in the Byzantine style. The church emphasizes high iconostasis with classicist-romantic decorations and with 63 icons, which worked famous painter Uros Predic. In the center of town is the Catholic Church which assumed its current form after It has two altar paintings by famous Hungarian painter must Tana, born in 1828 in Becej. Market dominates storey municipal building from 1881, and next to it is the endowment of Baroness from 1894, which was built in the Secessionist style. Two buildings of the 1902 form one unit, so that the facade of the Municipal Assembly Bečej to the market extends over a length of over 60 meters. Worth attention is also the constitution at the mouth of the Great Backa canal into the Tisa. The dam was constructed according to plans of Heinz Albert, technical director of the channel, in the period from 1895 to It is likely that the structure of this business out of the Eiffel workshop. 9 ACCOMODATION The Youth Exchange program will be held in hostel Villa Via in Bečej. There participants will also be accommodated and served 3 meals a day, basically most of the activities and our time we will spend there. About Villa Via: Villa Via Bečej started to work in 2008 and in 2013 new wing with renovated restaurants and additional accommodation facilities was built. Hotel is in a quiet street only 250m from the center and 500m from the Sports Center "Mladost" with whom we have excellent cooperation, which has indoor and outdoor pools, gym, sauna, tennis courts, a hall for handball, basketball and other sports. Hotel "Villa Via Becej" has 60 beds in 22 rooms. All rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The rooms have a private bathroom, TV with cable network and the building has and Wireless Internet high flow. Within the Villa Via is a restaurant for 100 people and a terrace for 40 people. We prepare traditional food for a distinctive geographical region of Vojvodina, as well as vegetarian and vegan food. The building is under video surveillance, with its own external and internal parking space. Cooling and heating room is central. Renown guests Villa Via Bečej talk about the quality of our offer, and we will list some of them. In our hostel we hosted a significant number of athletes and eminent personalities from various spheres, from our country and from abroad. We welcomed the participants of the World Championships preferable October 2008, water polo players from South Africa, English, Greek, Croatian, Hungarian... as well as a large number of polo clubs and national teams from our country, as well as many others. 10 HOW TO REACH BEČEJ - NOVI SAD If you will come with public transport you should reach first Novi Sad which is major center / hub in Serbia and there are lots of different traffic / way to arrive in Novi Sad. Maybe the best option for participants from HUN, SVK and CZH is to come by train or bus. There is a direct train 3 times a day from Budapest to Novi Sad and we believe that Slovak s and Czech people can easily reach Budapest. The train departures from Budapest to Novi Sad are at 7:57; 11:04; 22:15. The travel duration should be between 6:30 and 7 hours. If you would like to check on your own here is the link Regarding bus the best option is Flixbus. Beside direct bus from Budapest there are also 3 buses each day from Bratislava to Novi Sad regardless of working or weekend days. Here you can check about these buses Also the good option is to come from Vienna if that suits to you there are lot of buses that are traveling from Novi Sad to Vienna and back. ONCE when you are in Novi Sad you need to take BUS for BEČEJ (Bechej on English), because there is no other public transfer option! Here is print screen of afternoon buses for Bečej:

11 This is the timetable for weekend so Saturday and Sunday, on week days there is more buses. The bus drives 1h. Participants or even better groups will need to send Viber or SMS message to Dijana (you have her number on page 2) and she will pick you up at Bečej bus station. The bus station is 5 minute walk from accommodation place. Unfortunately the bus station portal is just on Serbian but if you can manage on your own here is the link If you would like to come by airplane then you should know that in Serbia there are just 2 airports, Belgrade and Niš. Niš is in south Serbia so I don t recommend that. The most logical would be to arrive in Belgrade because Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and it is just 80km from Novi Sad. From Belgrade there is literary every minutes bus for Novi Sad and trains are going also quite often to Novi Sad. How and from where you can reach Belgrade airport you can check on If you would like to check some other options like to fly in some close / neighboring country and then use public transport to reach Novi Sad don t do that, it is not recommended. The closest countries are Romania but from there is basically almost not bus / train connection to Novi Sad; then Croatia but the low cost companies that are flying to Croatia are on coast and that is then expensive and far away from Serbia and Finally there is option to flay to Budapest and then use already explained public transport which is OK but from our point of view it is a bit silly to fly from Bratislava to Budapest and the take train or bus. Anyway if you arrive to Belgrade airport there is good organized (and cheep) public transport from the airport to main bus station and other parts of Belgrade. There are 3 lines, some of them are from the local public transport company and other is private, so the price of the ticket is different (but steel cheep) and also the quality of the transport is different (more money more music ). On this page you can check out the prices and timetables of these buses. They are going often so no problem. Those who are coming with car, I believe that you have some navigation and that you will easily find us, so U directly come to Bečej & accommodation place.

12 TRAVEL COSTS As you know the budget in ERASMUS + is calculating travel costs based on bird distance. However, it is necessary to provide original tickets and documents as proof of payment for your arrival, and calculate total cost. DO KEEP INVOICES, PAY-TOLLS, BOARDING PASSES, EVERYTHING! You are expected to arrive in Bečej on October 7 till 20:00 (if you would like to be fed ) and to leave October 14 th. REMEMBER TO BRING What to bring: Passport or ID card - Health insurance. This is most important!! Please check if all of your s participants have European Health Card. If not please remind them to make it or they will need to pay for travel insurance. - STATEMENT OF MONEY REFUND SIGNED!!!! - HIKING SHOES / or good sport shoes to hold your ankle and not to slide during hiking - BACKPACK OR SMALL BAG (OVER THE SHOULDERS) - SPORT T-SHIRT (this is optional, just if U would like to use it) - Swimming suit (there are normal and thermal swimming pools in Bečej as well as open and indoor so you can use their services but you need to pay on your own, same for the thermal swimming pool in hostel) What to keep: All original travel tickets, bills and boarding passes! Travel costs are designated by ERASMUS + rules and by European Commission distance calculator. Travels need to be done with the cheapest possible solutions, e.g. second class railway tickets, bus, flights etc And also: Things that represent your country at intercultural evening (food, drink, music, story ) Be prepared for a lot of intensive work on the YE. Bring both warm and comfortable clothing - usually in that time temperature outside is around ºC.

13 USEFUL INFO Language: In Serbia the official language is Serbian language. The official letter is Cyrillic but Latin letters are also in use. The exchange rate is 1 = approximately 117 RSD. You can exchange foreign currency in exchange offices and banks. Be aware that it might be difficult to exchange coins here, so bring the paper bills and cards are working also normally. There is no significant difference in the exchange rates, except at the airport, hotels or gasoline stations. Restrictions: Foreigners are allowed to bring their medications, but are advised to declare the quantity on the entry to Serbia, so they won t have any problems leaving the country with it.
