We hope that this information will make your holiday the carefree experience it should be:- Your Travel Arrangements CRUISE FARES Cruising with Carnival represents the best in holiday value. Your cruise includes accommodation aboard your Carnival SuperLiner, meals and entertainment on board ship. A small surcharge applies to meals at the Steakhouse (All ships except Fantasy-class, Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph and Carnival Victory). Cruise prices also include NCA s (non-commissionable amounts, taxes & fees). Not included, however, are items of a personal nature or optional programmes or optional activities, such as alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, laundry and dry cleaning, onboard gratuities (which can be pre-paid at the time of booking), shore excursions, medical, barber and spa services. All lead in fares shown in this brochure are per person in Sterling. You will be charged separately for additional items not shown on the itinerary, such as hotel dayrooms. Fly/cruise Fares Fly/cruise fares also include air transportation, transfers (except where shown as not being included) and where applicable one-night s precruise accommodation (room only) at the city of embarkation. Cruise Only Fares You may purchase cruise only fares, which will not include air transportation, hotel accommodation or transfers. FLIGHTS International Flights We have negotiated favourable rates with scheduled operators such as British Airways. Where possible these are direct from London, however in some cases may be via a US Gateway. Glasgow & Manchester flights are usually via a US Gateway. We reserve the right to determine the hotel/air carrier, flight routing (which may not be non-stop or direct) and airport, for all fly/cruise arrangements. UK Domestic Flights Domestic flights via London may be booked from certain UK airports in conjunction with British Airways flights only at a supplement, and must be taken on the same day as the connecting trans-atlantic flight. Domestic flights are offered subject to air schedules available at the time of booking. Should subsequent schedule changes result in no regional air service being available, no alternative transport will be provided. All passengers visiting the USA are required to provide information to the airline prior to check in. You must provide this information (which includes passport details, country of residence and emergency contacts) at the time of booking or no later than 70 days before travel. If you fail to supply the details requested both fully and accurately, you may not be permitted to board your flight. Carnival Cruise Lines will accept no liability for this and you will not be compensated. Please ask for details of our optional hotel arrangements at ports of embarkation. All prices quoted are per person per night on a room only basis. Infants Please note that infant fares are based on infants not occupying their own seat. Should you wish to purchase a seat, child rates will apply. Booking your own flight? If you are making your own flight arrangements we recommend that you leave plenty of time to transfer to the ship for embarkation, and on long haul destinations stay at least one night in a hotel near the port of embarkation. When debarking, to allow sufficient time for Customs clearance we suggest scheduling homebound flights no earlier than our recommended times, which are available at or via our UK call centre. E-Tickets It is now the policy of airlines not to issue passengers airline tickets. You will instead be issued only with a receipt showing a confirmation code, which must be shown at check-in for the flight. All airline standard conditions of carriage will still apply. HOTELS & TRANSFERS Where hotel overnights are included on the cruise itinerary, these will be on a room only basis, and will usually include transfers from airport to hotel and hotel to ship. If you have booked an airport transfer at the end of your cruise, this means you will be transferred directly from the ship to the airport following disembarkation after breakfast regardless of your flight time. DOCUMENTATION, PASSPORTS AND VISAS It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct travel documents for your journey. Entry and transit requirements are subject to change and you are advised to check the requirements with the Consulate or Embassy of all countries on your itinerary. Carnival assumes no responsibility for advising guests on immigration requirements. Any guest travelling without proper documentation will not be allowed to board the ship and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. Many countries require your passport to be valid during and beyond the length of your stay, so check what applies to you. You also need to check and obtain the necessary visas for your destination, including transit visas if required. Visiting the USA U.S. State Department regulations require that all guests travelling from visa-waiver countries must be in possession of a machine readable passport. From January 12, 2009 all visitors to the USA are required to comply with the mandatory Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA), introduced by the US government for all visitors into the United States under the visa waiver scheme. Applying is easy customers can provide the information online at or via their travel agent for an ESTA that is valid for two years, allowing multiple visits to the US within that period without the need to re-apply. There will be a nominal charge for ESTA of up to US$17 per person. Travellers who fail to apply for ESTA up to 72 hours before they depart may result in delayed travel. This affects passport holders from all countries currently participating tin the visa-waiver scheme including UK passport holders. It is important that all guest names on travel documents be identical to those on the cruise and airline tickets. Otherwise proof of name change (i.e. marriage licence) or a valid driver s licence must be presented. e-documents Carnival Cruise Lines is in the process of introducing electronic e-docs which will replace the current voucher system. THE A-Z OF CRUISING WITH CARNIVAL Advance Guest Information US Border Security Act Carnival is required to provide the US. Department of Homeland Security with specific guest information prior to departure. To comply with this you must provide advance guest information by going online at mycruise and clicking onto the FunPass icon. You will need your Carnival booking number, ship and sail date. Once you complete the online registration process, you will be able to fast track through a quick documentation verification at embarkation. Our Know Before You Go brochure will also be available on online for your reference. Failure to provide this information prior to two days before departure date will result in delays in embarkation. Back to Back Cruises Many of our guests book back to back cruises, which constitute two seven night cruises featuring different ports of call. In most cases passengers can retain the same cabin throughout the cruise, although there may be some repetition of food and entertainment on week 2. Following return to the ship s home-port on day 7, all non-usa guests must disembark and clear USA immigration within the port before re-embarking the ship. Baggage There is no need to affix baggage tags to your luggage prior to travel. You will be issued with baggage tags showing your deck and cabin number when you arrive at the port. Kerbside porters are available at the pier during embarkation to take luggage to the vessel for delivery to your stateroom. Please be sure each piece of luggage is locked and has a tag listing your name, ship and stateroom number. Baggage tags are issued at the port of embarkation. Customary tip is US$1 per bag. Kerbside porters are not employees of Carnival, therefore any problems are the responsibility of the guest. Carnival assumes no responsibility for carry-on luggage. Any luggage left at the pier will be forwarded at the guest s expense. Claims for luggage loss or damage must be made in writing to the debarkation personnel prior to leaving the pier area. For security reasons, Carnival must limit the size of hand-carry on luggage to 24 width x 16 height, which is the dimension of the opening of the X-ray security machine. Hand luggage that is greater than these dimensions will not be permitted through the security machine and must be checked in with a porter. Baggage Liability It is mandatory that all guests purchase a travel insurance policy, which covers baggage, contents and accidents. Carnival s liability for lost or damaged baggage, contents and personal possessions is strictly limited to a maximum of US$50 per bag with a maximum total limitation of US$100 per stateroom, regardless of the number of bags. Following any baggage incident, a claim form must be completed onboard ship. Carnival cannot accept liability for loss or theft of money, jewellery or other valuables left in the stateroom or public areas onboard. Safety deposit boxes are available in your stateroom, as well as at the Information Desk at no charge (US$25 refundable deposit). We highly recommend guests personally carry any valuables, medication or breakable items on and off the ship. Bon-Voyage Programme Wish your friends and family a bon voyage with special gifts. Carnival can arrange a choice of special welcome gifts ranging from floral arrangements, wine and champagne to photo or bar coupons, even formalwear rentals, or a special occasion package to help celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Carnival s professional wedding co-ordinators will work to each guest s taste and budgets to design the ideal wedding package to suit Clothing onboard Casual attire is the order of the day. For one or two evenings, more formal attire is suggested. The dress code for other evenings ranges from sports coat and tie to casual resort wear. Shorts and T-shirts are not permitted in the dining room during dinner but are acceptable in the Sea-view bistro. For Alaska cruises, sweaters, lightweight jackets and raincoats are suggested. Credit Card Payments At the time of booking your cruise, if you wish to payby credit card, the following charges apply: VISA/Mastercard/AMEX 1.5%; Switch/Delta no charge. Dining Room Reservations Dining preferences (time, companions) may be requested by your travel agent at the time of booking. No requests are guaranteed. All Dining Rooms are now smoke free (smoking is permitted in designated areas and in your stateroom). Your table assignment will be confirmed on embarkation. Dining times are (subject to change): Main Seating Late Seating BREAKFAST Open seating every day in the main dining room LUNCH Open seating every day in the main dining room DINNER* 6pm 8.15pm You can also enjoy continental breakfast in your stateroom (until 10am) or a limited breakfast menu on deck. Lunch and dinner are also available bistro-style on the Lido Deck (the Sea-view bistro is not available on the last night of the cruise). Spirit-class and Conquest-class ships plus Carnival Splendor, Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic have a reservations-only supper club (nominal fee will apply). Carnival also offers flexible Your Time open dining in the main restaurant on most ships. Embarkation Embarkation begins as follows: Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Tampa, Port Canaveral, New Orleans, Los Angeles, San Diego 12.30pm; New York 1pm; San Juan 2.30pm; Ensenada 6pm. You must check in at least 1.5 hours prior to departure. Liquor and Beverage Policy Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard. One bottle of fine wine or champagne per person may be brought onboard only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A US$10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room. Guests may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages. Excessive quantities, to be determined at the discretion of security and/or embarkation personnel, will be confiscated and retained by Carnival until the cruise is completed. Guests may purchase a variety of beverages onboard ship. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship s gift shops or in ports of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the cruise. Maximum Occupancy Stateroom Restriction To ensure we keep twin cabins with additional beds available for parties of more than two guests travelling, at times certain categories of cabin may be restricted for sale unless the party size meets the occupancy level of the cabin. We will always attempt to book your selected grade of cabin, if available, however if your chosen grade of cabin is only available to those parties with more than two guests, we will offer you the nearest grade of cabin available for twin occupancy. We will accept a single guest in all twin cabins at the following supplements:- 1a 50% single occupancy supplement 4a 100% single occupancy supplement Medical Services Should you require medical attention onboard, our infirmary staff is available to assist you 24-hours a day. Our shipboard infirmaries meet or exceed the Medical Facilities Guidelines established by the International Council of Cruise Lines and the American College of Emergency Physicians. The medical staff is from the fields of Emergency Medicine and/or Family Practice, and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Our physicians are independent contractors and as such are entitled to render services at a customary charge. The charge for their services and any other medical expenses will be applied to your Sail & Sign account. Pregnancy: Please note that guests who are 24 or more weeks or more into their pregnancy at the time the cruise commences will not be permitted to sail. All pregnant guests are required to produce a physician s letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and the pregnancy is not high risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery. Minor Guests Guests under the age of 21 years must be accompanied by a parent or grandparent in the same stateroom, or staterooms located side by side. If guests under the age of 21 travel with a guardian 25 years of older, they must travel in the same stateroom. Infants must be at least six months old (12 months for some cruises including trans-atlantic and Hawaii voyages) to be eligible to travel. Our Camp Carnival programme features supervised activities for children and teens aged Please note guests under 18 are not permitted in the casino. Spa guests must be over 16 and accompanied by an adults if between 16 and 18. Height restrictions may apply on the waterslide. Sail & Sign For your convenience, charges for most of your onboard purchases are made to your Sail & Sign account. A required application form will be included with your cruise documents, which are collected at the port of embarkation. Carnival accepts American Express, VISA, Mastercard and cash for deposit on your account. Some bank debit cards are also accepted. A minimum deposit will be required for cash accounts: 2-4 day cruises US$100; 5-8 day cruises US200; 9-day or longer cruises US$350. If using a credit or debit card to pay your expenses onboard, there will be an initial hold placed on file as a deposit. During the cruise, additional holds will be added when the Sail & Sign account exceeds the amount of deposit Carnival has on file. At the end of your cruise, you will receive a final statement, and your card will be charged only for the actual amount of your purchases. For banks outside the USA and Canada, please inform your credit or debit card issuer in advance that your card will be used on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship. This will help prevent delays in obtaining pre-authorization on board. Some banks may keep the pre-authorization in place for up to 30 days, therefore you are encouraged to use a credit card rather than a debit card. U.S. travellers cheques may be cashed at the front office to make your deposit. All onboard charges will be assessed in U.S. dollars. Personal cheques or sterling travellers cheques are not accepted on board. Service Gratuities How much you give is purely a personal matter and completely up to you, however we do have many guests who ask for guidelines as to what is appropriate. For your convenience we are automatically adding the gratuities for your dining and stateroom services to your onboard Sail & Sign account. The total amount will be $10 per guest, per day. You have discretion to adjust these gratuities while onboard based on the level of service you receive during the cruise. Tipping your Maitre d is at your discretion, as with other onboard personnel. For beverage purchases 15% of the bill is automatically added to the Sail & Sign account. Guests will also have the option to pre-pay their onboard gratuities for dining and stateroom services at the time of booking their cruise. Ship to Shore Communication Please note that telephone communication onboard ship is only possible via Satellite, which can be very expensive. You may prefer to use the facilities ashore at your destinations if the call is not urgent. International roaming fees apply to all shipboard cell phone calls or messages and will appear on guests personal cell phone bill. All Carnival ships are equipped with an internet centre, which offers a low cost method of keeping in touch with family, friends and business 24-hours a day. Shore Excursions Optional shore excursions are available for prepurchase (visit or for purchase onboard the ship. On selected ships, you may be able to book your excursions directly through your in-cabin interactive TV system. Skippers Club The Skippers Club is a unique and exclusive service designed to offer guests cruising in deluxe suites (cats 11 & 12) with special registration and boarding privileges. Special Diets Special diet requirements may be requested by your travel agent at least two weeks prior to sailing, however these are subject to availability. You should discuss the method of preparation of menu items with your waiter or head waiter. Most simple diet requirements can be accommodated, however there may be limitations on our ability to provide special orders. Kosher meals are not available. Special Needs Carnival seeks, to the extent feasible, to accommodate guests with special requirements. In situations where a guest with special requirements, such as a guest in a wheelchair, would be unable to be comfortably accommodated due to a vessel safety barriers and other criteria, we may find it necessary to ask the guest to bring an able bodied companion or to make alternative arrangements. It is mandatory that Carnival be notified of any medical, physical or other special requirements at the time of booking.
