Barney is a completely new type shoalbuster and a very unique design from Damen Shipyard Hardinxveld-Giessendam 1/14

4 The Barney has a length of meters. She is width meters and has a depth at half-length of 3.20 meters. Her shallow draft aft is 1.80 meters only. She has a grt. of 382 tonnes and a dwt of 114 tonnes. What makes Barney so unique? With a bollard pull of 30 ton at only 1,80 m draft this vessel is made for the shallow waters. With her large accommodation available on the vessel Barney can accommodate up to 12 persons. Vessel has a 4-point mooring system available, in combination with her large accommodation and work deck she is very suitable for diving operations. Vessel will be certified with an anchorhandling notation, this means Barney will comply with the latest regulations regarding safe work in Anchor handling. Vessel is equipped with a moonpool. This in combination with her large accommodation and low fuel consumption makes her very suitable and cost effective for 24 hour survey operations. Barney can be used as a pull pontoon up to 50 tons! 4/14

5 Propulsion system: The main power is provided by triple Caterpillar C18-ACERT diesels each developing 533 bkw (715 bhp) at 1,825 rev/min. This is delivered to a triple screw arrangement of Promarin fixed pitch propellers turning in 1,600 mm nozzles via Reintjes WAF364L gearboxes with reduction ratio of 5.435:1. The three rudders are Fishtail with a 45 degrees turning angle. On trails, this configuration gave the vessel a bollard pull of 30+ tonnes and a free running speed of 10.4 knots. 6 Auxiliary equipment: The two Generator sets are Caterpillar C-4.4TA units, each of 107 kva, 50Hz 230/400V. The fuel separator is from Alfa Laval MIB L/Hr. The transfer pumps for water and fuel are SIHI with a capacity of 32m3/hr at 3.5 bar. The Hydraulic set is Combined Caterpillar C-18 with gearbox with clutch. The Compressor has a capacity of 950 L/min and two with a capacity of 175 L/min. Her seawage treatment installation is a Hamman Super mini with a capacity for 12 persons. 7 Deck layout: The deck machinery comprises a double drums DMT hydraulic driven Anchor Winch with a pull capacity of 5.5 1st layer, 300m dia. 24 mm. Two Pool anchors of 340kg each with a 19 mm shortlink anchor chain 220m. The three drums DMT winch on the aft main deck consist of a 50 tons anchor handling drum with 150m wire of 44mm with a capacity 6m/min 75 ton brake holding power and a double drum 50 tons towing drums with 650m of 38mm wire each and a capacity 6m/min 75 ton brake holding power. The HS-Marine AKC 185 HE4 aft deck crane has a lifting capacity of 6, m. The HS-Marine AK 20 LE1 forward deck crane has a lifting capacity of 2, m. On the aft deck are four hydraulic anchor handling pins system Noble Denton approved for anchor handling notation and a WK Hydraulic type wire/chain stopper. Also on the aft deck is mounted two Dromec HPV m/min tuggerwinches. There are two moonpools, one with a diameter of 386 mm and one with 600 x 800 mm. 9 Tank arrangements/capacity: The tug consist tanks for the following liquids; Fuel tanks capacity of 135 m3; Fresh water tanks with a capacity of 40 m3; Lubrication oil with a capacity of 3.40 m3; Hydraulic oil with a capacity of 2.00 m3; Gearbox oil with a capacity of 0.50 m3; Dirty oil tank with a capacity of 2.30 m3 and a sewage tank with a capacity of 9.70 m3 and a bilgewater tank of 3.40 m3 Accommodation: The tug has been outfitted to the highest standards heated and air-conditioned living quarters for 12 persons, consisting of a captain s cabin, an single crew cabin, two double crew cabins, three double passenger cabins all equipped with satellite television a galley with messroom and sanitary facilities according to ILO regulations. 9/14
