2 The Professional Education Society invites you to a Joint Medical-Dental Symposium with the University of French Polynesia TREATMENT CONSIDERATIONS IN ISOLATED COMMUNITIES OF THE SOCIETY ISLANDS, MARQUESAS, AND TUAMOTUS CONTINUING EDUCATION RECOGNITION AWARDS PHYSICIANS: This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 16 Prescribed hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians. DENTISTS: The Professional Education Society, as provider, is authorized to confer up to 16 hours of California Continuing Education credit units and 16 FAGD/MAGD credit hours with the Academy of General Dentistry. The Professional Education Society is an ADA CERP recognized provider. NURSES: The provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number CEP 5428 and is authorized to confer up to 16 contact hours for this program. Although the California Board of Registered Nurses does not approve individual continuing education courses, providers are required by law to be approved by the Board. Reciprocity for continuing education hours for nurses is available in most states. Please check with your regulation board regarding requirements. TAX DEDUCTION The travel symposium from Tahiti to Rangiroa, Marquesas and Moorea has been designed to comply with current IRS convention rules and deductibility requirements under Code Section 274(h)(1) as directly related to the conduct of the attendee s profession and meeting the reasonableness standard of the foreign seminar rules. Seminars will include clinic visits, hospital visits, or conference room lectures. The formal meetings will be scheduled with lectures and discussions conducted by foreign speakers and distinguished members of the Professional Education Society. The cruise expense deductions are designed to comply with the Luxury Water Transportation deductibility rules. Appropriate documentation verifying the scheduling dates, locations, hours of attendance, certificate of participation, and appropriate certificate of continuing medical, dental or nursing education will be provided at the completion of the conference. Consult your tax advisor for detailed information concerning deductibility of expenses relating to your particular situation.

4 THE ISLANDS OF FRENCH POLYNESIA Paul Gauguin s delightful land of French Polynesia is a scant seven and a half hours flying time from Los Angeles (closer than the Caribbean or Europe). DAY 1: Embark Paul Gauguin in Papeete Tahiti is the start and finishing point of the cruise and is home to the capital, Papeete. The island of Tahiti offers stunning scenery with spectacular mountains, lush vegetation and beautiful waterfalls. Don t miss the Gauguin Museum and Botanical Gardens which are also worth a visit. DAY 2: Rangiroa, Tuamotus At mid-day you will call on Rangiroa, home to the second-largest atoll in the world. It is forty-two miles long and sixteen miles wide, large enough to hold the U.S. naval fleet. The colors seem brighter, with water visibility of up to 150 feet. Here you can experience snorkeling at its best. DAY 3: Rangiroa, Tuamotus Enjoy a free morning to relax by the lagoon or to walk the beaches. If you re feeling adventurous, you could ride the tides as water enters or leaves the lagoon during tidal fluctuations. DAY 4: At Sea Time to relax or join the many activities offered on board. DAY 5: Atuona, Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands Call today at Hiva Oa, an island marked by wild beauty and a somber bearing. The main town is Atuona, which is also where Paul Gauguin is buried. You might visit the village of Puamau to see the largest stone sculptures in the Marquesas. DAY 6: Taiohae, Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands Nuku Hiva is stunningly beautiful, with three major bays. You ll call at Taiohae, the largest town on the island. A visit to Hakauii Bay offers the chance to see the Hakauii waterfall, with a 1,100-foot cascade into the local flora. DAYS 7-8: At Sea Time to enjoy the many activities offered on board or simply relax. DAY 9: Bora Bora James Michener s favorite island in the world is Bora Bora. This most beautiful lagoon is constantly replenished with ocean water from the swells that crash between sandy motus (small islets) and over the fringing reef. In the center of the island, half of an extinct volcano Mt. Otemanu still stands, looking from one direction like a tombstone and from another like a needle. Water and shore excursions abound for lasting memories. Whether enjoying a drink at Bloody Mary s or snorkeling with rays, you will never forget this experience. DAY 10: Taha a (Motu Mahana) Your fantasy of a South Seas paradise probably includes a white sandy beach with swaying palms, a gentle breeze and crystal-clear waters.
