Today you can choose to relax on the areas volcanic black sand beaches or visit the baroque lava stone church of Senhor Santo Cristo. Day 2: Lagoa do Fogo & Furnas A morning pick up from your hotel for a scenic drive around the island. The first stop will be in the beautiful seaside town of Vila Franca do Campo to taste the famous Queijadas da Vila. Followed by a stop at Terra Nostra Park to visit the award wining botanical garden. The tour continues to Lagoa das Furnas, where you will be able to watch your lunch, Cozido das Furnas, being prepared directly in the hot springs. After lunch you will continue to Miradouro do Ferro, where you will see the archipelagos oldest crater, home to some of the world s richest hydro polis of the world with 22 different kinds of mineral/medicinal waters. On your return journey to Ponta Delgada you ll stop at Tea factory and Miradouro de Santa Iria to take in the breathtaking views. Day 3: Sete Cidades The afternoon begins with a stop at the island s Pineapple Plantation for a local liquor tasting and the opportunity to try the islands delicious fruit. After the visit, you will stop along some of the most scenic look out points on the eastern end of the island. Making sure to stop at Vista do Rei where you ll see the iconic blue and green lakes set in a large crater. Day 4: Your Day To Explore Today is yours to explore Sao Miguel on your own or visit the Island of the Sun, Santa Maria. This optional excursion will require a thirty-minute morning flight to Vila do Porto where you ll be picked up and taken on an island tour. Visiting the historic sites of where Christopher Columbus stopped on his return voyage from Sanjoaninas, a popular Azores festival the Americas, the beautiful bay of Sao Laurenco and lunch at a local restaurant. Deposit and Payment To secure your reservation, a deposit of 25% of the cruise fare per person is required within 7 days of booking. Final payment is required 60 days prior to departure. All payments may be made by either check (US passengers only), Visa, Master Card, or American Express. All final payments by credit card requires the signature of the credit cardholder. Please make checks payable to Quest Travel Adventures. All reservations are subject to cancellation if payments are not received by the due date. Group policies differ. Administrative charge for cruise and land tour An administration fee of $50 is required for any changes made to reservations including both a cruise and a pre or post land package. In addition, any costs incurred for changes in land arrangements will be the responsibility of the passenger. Sailing dates cannot be changed within the penalty period. Cancellations and Refunds For full refund of cruise fare, notice of cancellation must be in writing and received by Quest Travel Adventures no later than sixty (60) days prior to sailing. If a cancellation occurs, the following charges will apply: days prior to departure:25% of cruise fare days prior to departure: 50% of cruise fare 15 days or less prior to departure: No refund Refunds will normally be made to the booking party. Quest Travel Adventures can only be responsible for refunding amounts actually received. If cancellation fees are charged by pre/post hotels, or services suppliers they will be deducted from any refund made. No refunds will be made to passengers who do not board the ship or passengers who cancel after the start of the cruise. We recommend the purchase of travel insurance. Child reduction Children between the ages of 7-10 sharing a cabin with two paying adults receive a 50% discount on the cruise fare per person in twin cabin. Children between the ages of sharing a cabin with two paying adults receive a 35% discount. Port taxes are not discounted. Children Aboard the Quest Travel Adventures river ships there are no recreational facilities for children and reservations for those under the age of seven (7) are not advised. Cruise itinerary change, sailing cancellation and vessel substitution Quest Travel Adventures reserves the right at their sole option and discretion and that of the Captain to deviate from the ship s advertised itinerary without liability for damages or refunds of any kind, either this is caused by weather conditions - sailing is not permitted by port authorities in case of winds or other extraordinary conditions. Such does not entitle passengers for any claims or refunds. Quest Travel Adventures will however ensure that passengers access their port or disembarkation on time for their outwards flights. In the unlikely event that such would be required, the cancellation of a departure will be notified at least 60 days prior to the sailing date and alternative sailing dates will be offered to the passenger. Quest Travel Adventures may for any reason whatsoever cancel any sailing at any time for reasons of force majeure and Quest Travel Adventures only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the cruise ticket and any other pre or post land tour or excursions package purchased from Quest Travel Adventures. Vessel substitution: Quest Travel Adventures may operate the cruise program with another vessel as long as this vessel is of the same or higher standard. Passengers offered a suitable alternative cruise program are not entitled to any refund. Cruise interruption: During the cruise should the vessel sustain any breakdown in machinery, or be disabled by fire, grounding or collision disrupting the cruise itinerary for more than 48 hours, and if no substitute vessel or arrangement is offered, passengers will be entitled to a refund proportional to the cruise days not operated. No further claims will be accepted. Independent Contractor / Limit of Liability Quest Travel Adventures liability and responsibility does not extend beyond the vessel; any arrangements made by or for passengers either before boarding or when disembarking are at the passenger s own risk. Quest Travel Adventures does not own or control any ground transportation or hotels. As a convenience to our passengers, Quest Travel Adventures may sell tickets for shore excursions or arrange other services which are operated by independent contractors, but shall not be responsible in any way whatsoever for any damage, loss, injury or death arising from these arrangements from these contractors.
