Guests may enjoy the traditional massage of Myanmar along with oils and creams made with the ground bark of the Thanaka tree. Often used by the woman of Myanmar as a form of makeup, Thanaka has similar fragrance to Sandalwood and contains anti fungal as well as anti aging properties and antioxidants to enrich the skin while providing relieve and UV protection from the sun. Western spa treatments utilizing all-natural products are also available while enjoying the serenity of the passing landscape. 14 ITINERARY DAY 1 YANGON PROME (PYAY) (LUNCH/DINNER/WELCOME RECEPTION) Guests will enjoy a scenic drive from Yangon to Prome. Once controlled by the Mon tribe during the Bagan Era and then conquered by the Burmese King Alaungpaya in the 1754, Prome boomed along with the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1890's and it is now an important trading post. In the afternoon we drive to Thayekhittaya (also known as Sri Ksetra, the Fabulous City in the Pali language), an ancient Pyu city that ruled in this th th area between the 5 and the 9 century AD. In central Prome we visit the impressive Shwesandaw Pagoda complex, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites of Myanmar, and the Wunchataung Paya (Apology Mountain Pagoda) a fabulous vantage point of the Shwesandaw Pagoda and the surrounding mountains. This afternoon we set sail for your exploration of the Irrawaddy River. DAY 2 THAYETMYO (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) This morning we explore the town of Thayetmyo: the oldest golf course of Myanmar with fascinating history. We then visit the local market as well as several colonial homes constructed during the British colonization of Burma. DAY 3 MAGWE (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) We arrive at Magwe this morning. Visit Myat Than Lun Paya, a 1929 built pagoda of gold solid bricks set on a hilltop with a beautiful panoramic vantagepoint. DAY 4 SALAY &TAN KYI MOUNTAIN (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) th We visit Salay this morning, a village founded in the 13 century th with Bagan-era shrines, beautiful 19 century teak monasteries and preserved British colonial buildings. After lunch, we continue upstream to the village of Tan Kyi. We'll reach the mountaintop by WW2 jeep where stands one of the four stupas that marked the original edges of the city and enjoy a marvelous sunset over the Bagan plains. 1 2 H A I M A R K, L T D. 15 DAY 5 BAGAN (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) This morning enjoy a full day visit of the most significant Pagodas and Temples of the 2,000 listed around Bagan. Following lunch on board we'll set out via local Oxcart to view the sunset atop the most significant temple in the area with a champagne toast. DAY 6 BAGAN RIVER VILLAGE (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) Explore some of Bagan's local markets selling wood carvings, fabrics, longyis and rattan products. We'll visit a workshop to see the ancient technique of Burmese lacquerware making. Alternatively passengers can hire a horse cart or a bicycle and explore the site on their own or enjoy a splendid early morning Balloon Flight over Bagan (surcharge applied - optional). This afternoon we sail to Shwe Pyi Thar village for leisurely walk through a typical village along the Irrawaddy River. This evening dinner followed by a Puppet Show performance. DAY 7 YANDABO (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) This morning we arrive at Yandabo, a picturesque village famous for its pottery, also where the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese war signed on Feb. 24, We go ashore for a walk stopping at workshops to witness their craft and interesting way of firing their pottery. 16 DAY 8 MONYWA (HPOWINDAUNG AND SHWEBADAUNG CAVES) (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER) This morning we'll depart early for Monywa to visit the Hpowindaung and Shwebadaung Caves where hundreds of Buddha Statues are placed inside niches decorated with wonderful mural paintings. After lunch, we visit the splendid Sambuddhai Kat Kyaw pagoda with its more than 500,000 Buddha images. We'll drive to Sagaing where we will rejoin the ship. DAY 9 MINGUN - AVA AMARAPURA (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/FAREWELL DINNER) After an early breakfast visit Mingun the famous 'unfinished pagoda', and the largest working bell in the world. After lunch, we'll explore Ava by horse-cart visiting the beautiful 200 year old teak Bagaya Kyaung Monastery, Nanmyin watchtower (27mt. high) and the Me Nu Ok Kyaung monastery. We travel to Amarapura, the penultimate Burmese Royal Capital (1783) to visit U-Bein Bridge at sunset where we'll enjoy a sampan cruise and champagne toast before returning to the ship for our farewell dinner. Following dinner guests will enjoy a dance and theatre performance on-board. DAY 10 CENTRAL MANDALAY (BREAKFAST/DISEMBARKATION) After breakfast, visit central Mandalay: Mahamuni Pagoda and Mandalay Hill where spiraling staircases lead to sweeping views of the city and its temples. Nearby, we'll visit Kuthodaw Paya, which contains the world's biggest book, the workshops of gold leaf and tapestry making, woodcarving, marble carving and bronze casting. 20 GENERAL INFORMATION Suggested Attire Aboard the Irrawaddy Explorer, attire is casual and comfortable during the day, with resort-style clothing, and comfortable, but sturdy, footwear for excursions. On occasion, we will visit religious sites that may require long pants and covered shoulders. In this instance, our shipboard staff will notify you the day prior, to allow you to plan accordingly. Evening wear consists of open-neck shirts, trousers, skirt, or similar attire. Footwear is always required in all public areas, and when navigating stairs on board. Communication /internet is available in all public areas of the vessel, free-of-charge for passengers that bring their own WiFi-capable devices. Although the vessel does not offer directdial calls from their suites while on board, in the event of an emergency, the Reception Desk can facilitate an international call, and associated costs will be billed to the guest's onboard account. The Irrawaddy Explorer contact information will be included in final travel documents, and may be provided as a contact number in the event of an emergency at home. Onboard Account & Currency The official currency on board is the US Dollar. All charges for services and products on board will be placed on the guest's shipboard account to be settled at the end of the voyage. MasterCard, Visa and US dollars are also accepted for the settlement of guest accounts. Dietary Requirements Our culinary team will make every effort to accommodate special dietary requests. Please inform our office at least 60 days prior to departure of these requests. Electricity The electrical current on board is 220V. For those items that are dual voltage, suites are outfitted with a multi-plug configuration feature. Guests should be sure to bring the appropriate converter for devices that are not dual voltage. Fitness Centre The Irrawaddy Explorer is equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Guests may enjoy panoramic views of the Irrawaddy River while enjoying the Fitness Center, located on the Sun Deck. Gratuities Gratuities are a personal matter, and are a token of your appreciation for a job well done. Envelopes will be provided en-suite on the last night of your sailing. US dollars are the preferred currency, however guests may also charge gratuities on their shipboard account, which may be settled with a credit card at the end of the voyage. Suggested gratuities are $10 per person per day for shipboard staff and $6 per person per day for local expert guides and transportation providers. Laundry Service Twenty-four hour, professional laundry and pressing service is provided on board. Costs will be listed in each suite's directory, and charged to the guest's account. Mandalay Suite includes complimentary laundry services. Mail Our Reception Desk staff would be pleased to mail postcards upon request. Applicable postage costs will be charged to the guest's account. Medical Services The Irrawaddy Explorer staff is trained in first aid, and we are never far from on-shore medical services. Guests requiring oxygen for medical reasons are welcome to bring their own equipment, as required. Guests must bring the appropriate electric converter for personal medical equipment. Newspapers The Irrawaddy Explorer subscribes to an international news service that provides summaries of the day's news. These are complimentary, and will be delivered to suites each morning. Pets Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate pets of any kind aboard the Irrawaddy Explorer. Spa Services The Explorer Spa offers a range of spa treatments from well-trained, professional, spa staff. A menu of services is available on board, and all costs associated with spa services will be charged to the guest's account. Mandalay Suite guests will enjoy a onehour, complimentary, spa service of their choice during their voyage. Shore Excursions All shore excursions during your 9-night cruise aboard the Irrawaddy Explorer are included in your cruise tariff. Excursions are led by expert guides, and guests are divided into three groups, guaranteeing there are never more than 19 passengers touring together. Electronic listening devices are complimentary to all guests in order to ensure that guests are able to hear their guides, even in crowded areas. Smoking The comfort and safety of our guests is our first priority. Smoking is not permitted in the suites or enclosed, public areas on board. There is a designated smoking area on the Sun Deck. Special Occasions We are excited to celebrate our guests' special moments. Please notify us at least 60 days prior to departure of any special occasions during the voyage. Valuables All suites are equipped with a personal, electronic safe. Haimark, Ltd., is not responsible for valuables brought on board. Further details are provided within our Terms & Conditions. Haimark Ltd reserves the right to cancel, alter, advance, postpone or substitute any scheduled sailing or itinerary, substitute another vessel for the scheduled ship, or substitute or cancel scheduled ports of call, which, in its sole judgment and discretion, is justified for any reason, and to do so without liability for any loss whatsoever to guests as a result of said change(s). Additionally, Haimark Ltd reserves the right to cancel reservations and bookings in the event of a fullship charter, whether or not a deposit or full payment has been received, and in such event, Haimark Ltd. s only liability will be to refund to the guest the amount it has received. Haimark Ltd makes arrangements for transportation, other than cruise passage, only as a booking agent. Haimark Ltd. s responsibility does not extend beyond the vessel. In arranging for the transportation of guests to and from the ship, Haimark Ltd. does so with independent contractors. Haimark Ltd. is not responsible for incidents such as airline cancellations, reroutings or any disruption of scheduled services or accommodation, or lost luggage. All schedules, fares, and terms and conditions listed in this brochure are effective as of August 2013 and supersede any schedules, prices, and terms and conditions previously published. All fares indicated in this brochure including land and hotel, are capacity controlled, subject to change at anytime without notice and do not guarantee availability. All are subject to change and/or cancellation without notice. Travel documents will not be dispatched until full and final payment and passenger Contact Information has been received by Haimark, Ltd. and cleared. For purposes of this Agreement, Contact Information shall mean a passenger s full name, passport number, address, telephone number (land and mobile), electronic mail address and emergency contact information and any other information as requested by Haimark, Ltd. Haimark, Ltd. must be able to reach each passenger s emergency contact at any time of day. Haimark, Ltd. must, therefore, be provided with all information to allow Haimark, Ltd. to do so (such information should include the name, address, electronic mail address (if available) and phone number (including a cell phone number if available) of a parent, guardian, spouse, domestic partner, or other person to contact in the event of an emergency. No passenger will be allowed to embark a Haimark Ltd vessel unless Haimark, Ltd. has received all information. CRUISE TARIFF cruise fares cover certain shipboard services including: suite accommodations, onboard meals and entertainment, complimentary beverages aboard ship (including select Free-flow house wines for dinner, and locally produced spirits, soda, water, coffee and tea throughout the cruise) All fares are quoted in US dollars, are per guest and based on double occupancy. Not included in your cruise tariff are: airfare, hotel accommodations, optional shore excursions, meals ashore, fuel surcharges, Laundry(except Mandalay Suite guests), purchases from the ship boutique or any item or service of a personal nature such as medical care, massages, spa treatments, Champagne, premium wine and spirit selections are not included in your fare and may not be available at all times. TRAVEL PROFESSIONALS Travel agents are considered to be the agent of Passenger and not of Carrier. Carrier is not liable for any representation, act or omission of Passenger s travel agent. Passenger s cruise fare is not considered paid until Carrier receives full payment, and the amount thereof is subject to change at any time prior to Carrier s receipt of payment. Passenger shall at all times remain liable to Carrier for the price of passage. Carrier reserves the right to refuse embarkation if all charges and surcharges have not been paid in advance of departure. DEPOSIT/FINAL PAYMENT To reserve your cruise, a 25% deposit of the total cruise fare is required at the time of booking depending. Full payment is due no later than 120 days prior to departure. Guests will not be permitted to change travel agents once final payment has been received by Haimark Ltd. Final documentation will be issued after receipt of final payment and approximately 30 days prior to sailing. All reservations are subject to cancellation if payments are not received by the due date, and are guaranteed only when paid in full 120 days prior to sailing. Reservations made within 120 days of sailing require full payment within seven days of booking or sooner, as specified by Haimark. Payments may be made by personal check (USD funds), or by VISA / MasterCard. CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS Should you find it necessary to cancel your reservation or any component thereof, you and your travel professional are required to contact your Travel Professional or Haimark Ltd directly by telephone as well as submit your cancellation in writing. If your cancellation request is received more than 120 days prior to your initial sailing date, a $500 non-refundable administrative fee will be charged per booking. This administrative fee may be not converted to a future cruise credit. Cruise cancellation requests received within 120 days of the initial sailing date will be subject to the following charges, regardless of suite resale: days prior to the initial sailing date: 50% of the total cruise fare per person 90 0 days prior to the initial sailing date or nonappearance at the time of sailing: 100% of the total cruise fare per person. Cruise tickets must be returned to Hairmark Ltd before refunds (if owed) can be processed. PRE/POST EXTENSION PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS days prior to the initial sailing date: US$250 per person 60 0 days prior to the initial sailing date: 100% of the extension program per person cost. HEALTH AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS All guests are required to report in writing to Haimark Ltd at the time their reservation is made: 1. Any physical or mental condition that may require medical or professional treatment or attention during the voyage 2. Any condition that may render the guest unfit for travel, or that may require special care or assistance 3. Any condition that may pose a risk or danger to the guest or anyone else onboard the ship 4. Any condition that may require oxygen for medical reasons 5. Any intention or need to use a wheelchair cart, other mobility device By booking passage and by boarding the ship, the guest represents and warrants that he/she is physically and otherwise fit to travel, and that the guest will comply at all times with applicable rules and regulations of the ship and orders and instructions of the ship s officers. Haimark Ltd reserves the right without liability to require a guest to disembark and/or to refuse to board and transport a guest who, in the judgment of Haimark Ltd or the ship s Captain, is unfit to travel or may require care beyond that which Haimark Ltd is reasonably able to provide. Haimark strongly recommends that guests are able to navigate the stairs on-board without assistance. Should guests require assistance, they must travel with someone who is able to assist them both ashore and at Onboard. Haimark Ltd is unable to offer special assistance. Please note that wheel-on and/or wheel-off access is not available at ports-of-call. BAGGAGE You may bring aboard the ship a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects without charge. Baggage for Haimark guests or guests on our land extension programs must be handled in accordance with regulations of our ground operators. Baggage exceeding these limitations is subject to the charges as set forth by the individual operators. Airlines are strict with baggage limitations. Guests are encouraged to contact individual airlines for weight limitations. All baggage must be securely packed, and properly and clearly labeled. Liquid, fragile,perishable and other articles not suitably packed are transported at your own risk. Haimark Ltd is not responsible for loss or damage to baggage or any other personal item during air travel or land extension programs. Baggage and personal belongings will be taken off the ship upon guest disembarkation. Under no circumstances will baggage be stored onboard without the owner of such baggage being on the vessel. Haimark Ltd is not responsible for baggage stored in shore side facilities. Under no circumstances may dangerous items (including but not limited to: explosives, firearms, combustible or illegal substances) be taken aboard the ship. We recommend that you hand-carry travel documents (passport, visa, cruise tickets), medications and valuables. These items are the full responsibility of the guest at all times. Haimark shall not be responsible for the loss of, or damage to, such personal items. LOST PROPERTY Haimark Ltd may levy a charge for the return of personal items left onboard or lost and subsequently found. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS All travel documents (air and cruise tickets, passport and medical insurance information) are the guest s responsibility. It is also the guest s responsibility to obtain any necessary visas and public health documents for all applicable ports and to comply with all customs requirements. Without the required documents, a guest may be denied boarding and accommodation by Haimark Ltd. or the guest may be disembarked during the voyage and Haimark will not make a refund or be otherwise liable to any guest for such denial of boarding or disembarkation. In the event that Haimark Ltd as a courtesy, provides information or advice as to necessary travel documents, visas and medical inoculations, guests are still obligated to verify such information with the appropriate government authorities and Haimark Ltd does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy of such information. India requires passports to be valid six months beyond intended stay. Please check with the appropriate consulate for specific requirements. Security measures imposed by governments may change from time to time and each guest will be required to comply with them. As a courtesy, we will endeavour to provide each guest with notice of measures that may affect them, but complying with any such requirements is the sole responsibility of each guest. Please consult your travel professional for advice on such requirements to avoid loss of boarding privileges. TAXES, GOVERNMENT FEES/QUASIGOVERNMENT FEES AND FUEL SUPPLEMENTS Haimark Ltd reserves the right to pass through to its guests (including fully paid and deposited guests) any taxes and government fees/quasi-government fees that relate specifically to a guest s itinerary. Taxes and Government fees/quasigovernment fees include any and all fees, charges, surcharges, tolls and taxes imposed by governmental or quasigovernmental authorities including, but not limited to, customs fees, per person berth taxes or fees, embarkation and/or disembarkation fees at ports, airline transportation fees, dockage fees, and wharfage fees. Haimark Ltd reserves the right to charge a per person fuel supplement in the event that the price of increases up to and including the day of embarkation. Haimark Ltd may collect any taxes, government fees/ quasigovernment fees and fuel supplement (the Surcharges ) at the time of booking, prior to sailing or on board the vessel, even if the cruise fare has been paid in full. Surcharges will be invoiced accordingly. All fares, and itineraries are subject to change without notice. Additional restrictions may apply. Haimark Ltd. reserves the right to correct any errors or omissions. This brochure may contain inadvertent technical or factual inaccuracies and typographical errors.
