7 HAND PROTECTION We offer a wide range of high hand protection to provide safety against even the toughest applications. Choose from handpads, mittens or gloves. Straight Thumb (G51) Straight thumbed gloves are ideal for applications requiring dexterity and the use of different grips. Winged Thumb (G64) Wing thumbed gloves are designed to provide protection when holding something in the palm of the hand. Ambidextrous (G43/G44/G45) Ambidextrous gloves allow both sides to be used, helping to extend the life of the glove (not available in all materials). What is the maximum temperature that the glove or mitten can endure? This is the most often-asked question regarding our gloves and mittens. It is difficult to give an exact temperature range because resistance is so strongly dependent on 3 outside factors: duration of contact, shape of the object, and frequency of use. Recognizing this difficulty in selecting the proper glove for each application, we have provided a selection guide on the following page. 1

8 OUR HAND PROTECTION TEST RESULTS Many manufacturers list the temperature at which the glove fabric begins to fail. This however does not indicate the gloves ability to protect the user from burns. Simply listing just the fabric failure temperature can be misleading and does not give a true picture of the protective performance. Therefore, we worked with independent 3rd party testing laboratories to determine the protective performance of our gloves tested according to ANSI/ISEA 105, American National Standard for Hand Protection Selection Criteria to determine the maximum contact temperature at which each glove and mitten protects against 2nd and 3rd degree burns. 2

The aluminized layer on the outside of our flame resistant fabrics substantially increases protection from radiant and molten metal splash. 48 CRYOGENIC PROTECTION Our cryogenic gloves and aprons provide excellent hand and body protection when handling ultra-cold materials and containers. The gloves are available in several cuff lengths, from a short wrist cuff to a full hand-to-shoulder length. We offer a few different types of cryogenic gloves: water resistant, waterproof, and waterproof with SaferGrip. Our cryogenic aprons are made from the same cold-and-splash resistant material as our gloves and feature adjustable straps and strong plastic clips around the neck and torso. What is cryogenic protection, anyways? The word cryogenics stems from Greece and means the production of freezing cold and similar to the meaning, National Safety Apparel produces garments suited for handling and being around cryogenic facilities. This is especially important when referencing the temperatures that handling cryogenic materials requires. Cryogenic temperatures, usually well below 77 K ( 196 C) are required to operate cryogenic detectors. 43
