2 WHO - IDAHO FALLEN SOLDIER MEMORIAL 2 WHAT - DEDICATION WHEN , 11 SEP 2010 WHERE - In front of the Old County Court House downtown Boise next to the Statehouse on Jefferson between 5th & 6th. WHY - This memorial is going to be dedicated for all the IDAHO soldiers (GI's) that have given their all for the US of A. 49 have made the sacrifice and 44 families have committed to attend this ceremony. ALL motorcycle originations are invited to this dedication - in fact they are encouraged to attend on bikes and wearing their colors. This is also Mtn. Home Air Force Applications Days among other things - if you don't do Mtn. Home or have some other function please present yourself at this dedication. I would like to make Brigadier General Alan GAYHART proud of all the motorcycle originations in the valley. This project has been just a little more than a labor of love for all that have been involved. Lets make this a very special and happy day for the family members in attendance. September the 18th will be our next meeting/breakfast, same place same time hope to see you all there.

North Carolina Here We Come 4 We left home on a sunny warm day, Oop s I mean 46 degrees and over cast. We had rain off and on all the way to Las Vegas.

We got on a Toll Bridge in OK where the roads were great. Maybe ID should adopt that idea and then maybe we could get some decent roads.

What a blast, but of course Richard made me ride on the outside of the vehicle so that when it went into the water guess who got wet. Oh well, it was 90 degrees, hot and humid anyway.

4 North Carolina Here We Come 4 We left home on a sunny warm day, Oop s I mean 46 degrees and over cast. We had rain off and on all the way to Las Vegas. Leaving there it is 82 degrees and Diana has decided she doesn t need her jacket any more. Crossed over Hover Dam where the new bridge is a little bit further to being done each time we see it. We got on a Toll Bridge in OK where the roads were great. Maybe ID should adopt that idea and then maybe we could get some decent roads. Branson is next where we were able to catch two shows and ride the Ducks, that amphibious vehicle that travels on water as well and land. What a blast, but of course Richard made me ride on the outside of the vehicle so that when it went into the water guess who got wet. Oh well, it was 90 degrees, hot and humid anyway. Fabulous motorcycle roads in AK and we re beginning to see a lot of lush green trees that canopy the roads. These are the times that we wished we were on the bike. But, then there were other times that we were glad to be in the car since we got into some tremendous rain storms more than once. On to Memphis where the humidity is getting worse. We saw a lot of road kill and I tried to get Richard to stop and pick us up some possum or an armadillo for lunch, but he just kept right on going. Party pooper. I told him we could take to his sister s house and she could cook it for us. Graceland wasn t as big as we had expected and seemed to be in a rundown part of town. What part of the house that they let the public see and the grounds were very pretty. We got to see a lot of his old cars and the planes he used. I told Richard he could get a new outfit, but he didn t think he d look good in any of Elvis s duds. We didn t see any of the flood damage in Nashville but saw pictures of Gaylord Opryland where we stayed at on two separate occasions. Temperature is down to 72 degrees and Diana is looking for her jacket. Drove about 100 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway going through the Great Smokey Mountains. You can see why they call them the Smokey Mountains as it looks like they are always covered with a Smokey haze. The Blue Ridge Parkway is always very beautiful, with a lot of breathtaking magnolia and rhododendron trees with their bright pink flowers. We went on a ½ mile walk up to Linville Falls where there were 2 beautiful waterfalls. Can you believe that I got Richard to walk that far! Outside of Ashville, TN it would be hard to find any better motorcycle roads, with the trees canopying the road and tons of curves. Home at last, Aulander NC. The home of the Real Rednecks. There are a lot of peanut, tobacco and cotton fields growing in the area. There are no irrigation systems here, so they all rely on rainfall. We went to the Brady Jefcoat Museum in Murfreesboro, NC. Mr. Jefcoat has 13,000 American artifacts from 1850 to He liked to collect as many items of one certain thing as he could. Such as, toasters, butter churns, irons, phonographs, washing machines,

radios and so many more items. It took us about 3 hours to look around and I m sure we still missed a lot. Parkers Ferry is something not to be missed. Actually if you blink you will miss it.

It is a wooden ferry with the capacity of one car and no more than 6 people. If you don t see anyone when you get there you just honk your horn and they will come out of the house and take you across.

We got to see where your Kia was born, in the manufacturing plant in West Point GA. Cool Huh? We also passed by J R Cigar store which is the largest cigar store in the US and the Wrangler Jean store, claiming to have 3,000 pair of jeans in stock. The destruction in Biloxi, MS from Katrina which had a 38 foot storm surge can still be seen everywhere. Some houses were untouched and a lot next to it was completely overgrown with weeds. The housing area we lived in on base is completely gone and they have just left the area empty. We did get to walk on the sand as the oil still hadn t reached that area yet. The Johnson NASA Space center in Houston was awesome. A person can t believe how huge the space shuttle is till you see it. We toured the training center and got to see the equipment the astronauts use, how long the training is and the engineering departments. The Alamo was very informative and really gives you an idea of what happened there. Richard said it sure looks a lot different than it did when he first saw it. Like almost everywhere, all us tourists have taken a toll on all our historic places. The area around The Tower of America s, which was built for the 1968 World s fair, was surrounded by some beautiful water fountains. Seeing a Drone in San Angelo was like something out of a science fiction movie. It is wonderful to be able to travel around this beautiful country of ours, but there s no place like home. Traveled 7,500 miles, went to 17 states, saw gas prices from $2.39 to $3.28 and temperatures from 46 to 102. Richard and Diana
