After that we went up to the hill which was about 62km far from Dhulikhel. The road was same like every other roads of Nepal. After about three hour we reach Chapakhori. People were already there waiting for us and there we some army officers too. We provide 70 families with buckets with food. It was very tiring day for everyone. After finishing handover the buckets we went for walk to have a look. Most of the houses were badly damaged. People were living out side there houses under a small tarp. Then we come back to Dhulikhel from the same bumpy road. RanjuAdhikari, 28 Permanently living in Koshipari-3, Majhipheda village with her husband, son, father-in-law and mother-in-law. 7 May 16, 2015 Due to frequent epic earthquake lots of houses are damaged and all the people are compelled to live outside, away from houses. Once the home which were used to provide shelter and protection, today became grave which took lots of life and became unsafe to live in. The livelihood is very tough and challenging. During the process of providing relief materials to the earthquake victims, the president of Bodhicharya Pariyatti Center, Mr. Rajaram Shrestha proposed that the relief materials are not reached in Sankhu and many people have to take shelter in relatives and some are forced to sleep in open sky. So, the Nepal Bouddha Pariyatti Shikshalaya and CDRA were ready to help them. On May 15, 2015 Mr. Shrestha went to the spot to collect the data and also helped in collecting all the relief materials. Nepal Bouddha Pariyatti Shikshalaya sponsored Tarpaulin (80 pieces), mosquito net (100 pieces), plastic jug (120 pieces), nawajeevan (200 pieces). Similarly, CDRA sponsored bucket (120 pieces), steel plate (120 pieces) and soap (120 pieces). Also, Bodhicharya Pariyatti Students volunteered during the relief program. On the date 16 th May 2015 team of Nepal Bouddha Pariyatti Shikshalaya (Bishow Shanti Vihar) Kathmandu, CDRA and Bodhicharya Pariyatti Center, Banepa headed towards the village named Sankhu ward no. 3 and 9 located in Panauti Municipality, Kavre District. We reached Sankhu ward no 3 at sharp 9 am and distributed the relief materials for 88 families. Venerable Bhikhu Bodhigyan Mahasthavir visited the place and handover the relief materials to victims by himself. The local people were very cooperative and were happy to get relief materials. One of our volunteer called the name of the head of family and they came one by one. We felt proud to see smile on their face. One old grandma with tears on her eyes thanked us for our help. The distribution program in Sankhu-3, completed systematically within about one and half hour. Then, we headed towards Sankhu-9, people where road was narrow and difficult to ride. However, we were happy to see villagers waiting for us. Within no time we began to distribute materials one after another in a systematic way for 15 families. Also, Venerable Bhikhu Bodhigyan Mahasthavir gave a peace speech and wish good health of people. On return one of the villagers provided a cup of milk to all the volunteers. Finally, we completed our aim and returned back to home. 6

8 Progress on Low Cost Housing Today we are into day-6 building our prototype of a low cost house. We have had many volunteers over the last 4 days including Boys and girls from Kathmandu University, members of Bodhicharya Pariyati Centre and CDRA Nepal Volunteers. As the design was not fully developed, we had to learn as we go, but the house is developing into something for dwellings of homeless, especially those in remote locations in the mountains, at an affordable cost. We shall keep you informed as the progress continues. May 17, 2015 Salbisaune-2, Jyamdi KU Volunteers A team of 15 volunteers from Kathmandu University and 2 from Technical Training Center (TTC) went to Salbisaune, Jyamdi village of Kavre district. Team has constructed two houses made up of bamboo; one is roofed with galvanized zinc sheets and another is roofed with tarp. It took about 3 hours each to complete each house construction. Also, the team has given training to 20 households about the low cost housing construction training so that they could build the house on their own with locally available materials.
