However there are places on the internet which provide maps. Try GoogleEarth. 3. Do the tasks and enter your answers in your maths book. 4. When you have finished all 16 tasks check your answers with your Teacher. 5. Each task has some road clues which give you some ideas and information about the problem. 6. Each task has some maths clues which will give you mathematical ideas to solve the problem with. 7. You task is to find the answer to the problem proposed. Some are hard and some are easy! You may need to do research to find the answer. 8. There are 16 tasks in this race. 9. The codes are easy transformation codes. Just rearrange the letters! 10. When you finish and have checked your answers look where you are on the table. Are you brilliant? Or maybe need to do the trip again and improve your result! 11. In the very popular television programme series which telecast in the 1960 s, two young men traveled the U.S.A. along Route 66 which is a road crossing most of the U.S.A. The hour long program told of the adventures the boys had while they followed Route 66. Since then it has become a cult TV series and can be hired today from many rental places. There were 116 episodes produced in the series The car was of interest to many people. What make of car was it? It was an hour-long CBS series on TV called Route 66. The premise was simple. Two guys in a sports car traversed the highways of America looking for adventure. Chevrolet sponsored the program, of course. Each year the guys got a newer model. And what a beautiful beach it is. This city is the second largest in the United States. It is home to nearly 12.9 million residents, who hail from all over the globe. It takes them one hour to clear the city and then a reasonably quick drive through the mountains. The road winds around and through some very dry looking hills and then across the desert again until they come to the town of Kingman. They pass several trains going in the same direction. The picture is taken at Topock where the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train is crossing the Colorado River about 17 kilometres southeast of Needles. Topock doesn t exist as a town anymore. The Horseshoe shaped skywalk is constructed of glass walls 4 inches thick and visitors must put on special scratch-proof socks as they partake in the view.

The Skywalk was built by the Hualapai Indians in 2007 and extends 65ft beyond the edge of the Grand Canyon and offers an unprecedented view from 4,000 ft above the ground! The Horseshoe shaped skywalk is constructed of glass walls 4 inches thick and visitors must put on special scratch-proof socks as they partake in the view. Along the way it s the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, more desert and high dry mountains, and fairly straight roads. At the end of the day they stop for dinner at this old fashion Diner. The boys have travelled for 420 kilometres along Route 66 to get to this. Here is a Route 66 Diner which is still in operation. In the 1950s and 60s there were several built on Route 66 around this city. Only two seem to be still going. The diners were famous for their milkshakes and malts. This city had a population in 2014 of 557,169 residents. It is located on degrees latitude and degrees longitude. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the USA. It is a difficult city to spell! Again the country is very flat and dry. Just outside of the city of Tulsa is the most unlikely whale. To have a whale in Oklahoma which is many, many kilometers from the sea seems a bit strange. It certainly is worth a stop. The distance from Amarillo to Tulsa is 582 km. The drive time is 5 hours 23 minutes. Believe it or not that this place is an Inland seaport! It is the farthest inland seaport in the United States, and links Tulsa to the Arkansas River and eventually to the Gulf of Mexico. The distance to the sea is at least 900 kilometres. Maybe this is where the little blue whale has come from! But first it is a stop at Springfield, the capital of the State of Illinois. This is the town where President Obama started his campaign for President in It is also the home of the Simpsons! The newly restored Route 66 Drive-In, located in Springfield, Illinois. is a twin drive-in showing double features nightly from Memorial Day weekend through to Labour Day and on weekends through to October. It features two movies every night starting at dusk. There are 38 Drive-in movie theatres on Route 66. It s a number between a prime and a square. It has 8 factors.
