Ambition. Feb 2010. There is no mystery where she is these days!

The first of the proper fibreglass hulls. Sold into private hands around 1986 she was christened Gotcha. Feb 2010.

1 Powles 40 s, , Star Supremes 1-6 and Star Victors 1-3 R641 Star Supreme 1. This was the wooden plug for the mould to make the rest and which became Superb Gem 1, then Superb Heart, was sold into private hands in 2000 when she became Ivy Lady and recently evolved into Broad Ambition. Feb There is no mystery where she is these days! R642 Star Supreme 2. The first of the proper fibreglass hulls. Sold into private hands around 1986 she was christened Gotcha. Feb A phone call to BA s registration Dept confirms that she is still registered on the Broads somewhere! R643 Star Supreme 3. Sold by Powles to Ripplecraft in 1987, renamed Dream Girl and sold on to Crown Cruisers under the same name. In 1990 Richardsons bought her and renamed her Carousel and sold her on to Hearts Cruisers where she continued as Carousel until her last recorded sighting in From Griff, Feb 2010 R643 Carousel in 2001 she was on the canals around the Lincoln area. Used as a liveaboard by a plasterer. He tried selling her but failed. I took some pictures of Ebay at the time but they are very small and don't take kindly to enlarging. He eventually succeeded in selling her about 3-4 years ago so he tells me (I've just spoke with him on the phone) the New owner moved her to Gunthorpe Bridge near Nottingham on the Trent, apparently there is a lock and a pub there and it is quite popular. The plasterer has had no contact with the new owner since he sold R643 to him but

2 thinks he may still have his phone number somewhere, the new owners name is Geof or Geoff or even Jeff. I have asked the plasterer to send on my /phone number to the new owner in the hope that he will contact me. From Swordfish I'm only about 6 miles from Gunthorpe, if the weather improves will hop on the bike and have a scout around. If not will jump in the car at the weekend. Will keep you posted.. Paul You'll need a keen eye as the superstructure has changed somewhat with round windows in the cabin sides, possibility of the wheelhouse roof now being a permanent fixture due to it being used as a liveaboard. Not sure if she still retains her name of Carousell or the reg Number R643. The new owner has had her for 3-4 years now and is a retired joiner by all accounts so things may have moved on again somewhat. Griff BA confirm R643 is no longer on Broads Swordfish chauffeured us to just before the lock where there is a small gathering of moored craft, no sign of R643 there, then it was over the road to a small marina just before the weir, looked a bit run down by Broads standards although a few nice boats around, no sign of R643 there either. I decided to back track the way I came and onto Newark. Called in at Farndon Marina, staff there at reception quite helpful and no recollection of R643, then onto Newark Marina, staff there very helpful, he got out paper and p/c records going back to the mid nineties sadly drawing a blank again. Looks like I ll have to pester the previous owner again, the current owner over the last week may have ed me of course but due to that saga I won t know. Griff From British waterways Dear Mr Newton, I have looked through our database and found a boat by the name of Carousel. It was initially in the Lincoln area and then moved to the River Trent. However, the boat has not been licensed with us and we have no boat sighting information since It is also hard to say that this is the same boat which you refer to as the information held on file about the make, model, and year of construction etc. is not complete. R644 Star Supreme 4. Bought by Richardsons in 1985/6 she was renamed Superb Gem and was the flagship of their fleet until 1999 when I was able to purchase her.

To this day she remains the finest known example afloat of the original layout and internal finish. And I know exactly where I left her! R645 Star Supreme 5. Very little information. 4 Then we come to the 1970 batch. E11 Star Victor 1. Bought by Richardsons 1985/7 and renamed Supreme Gem. Now if this boat had 10 berths then she was for sale at the same time in the same wet shed as R644. I remember an extraordinary folding double bed taking up half the wheelhouse! She sold in the spring of 2000 and I believe she went to Ireland. (River Shannon?) From Paul Garland in Ireland I brought several Powles on to the Shannon in early 2000's" Maestro " Ex Searching Light and "Rowan" but I think they were 42' they are both still on the North Shannon,great Boats 10 berths and good big ones at that,both boats were canvas top on a timber wheelhouse ( Folding ) any help? 5 From Paul Garland in Ireland Hi Geof, Monaco is very much alive and well based in Gilboys Marina Knockvicar Boyle Co Roscommon she has been extensively refitted,it even has a Bulb Bow like many cargo ships and belongs to one of the Barber brothers who s first name escapes me he regularly lives aboard her as they are part of the team in the marina I will try for a Photo next time I am up that way,maestro & Roan were later models with only the Wheelhouse in Timber but the same arrangement of loose beams to support the canvas the main superstructure was glassed over timber.roan had accommodation aft and sleeping forward,maestro was the reverse.there are many other examples on the Shannon a couple with very nice fly bridge conversions.i am neither a Fleet owner or Broker just a sucker for sad old Boats. Sold to Harbour Cruisers in 1990 and renamed Chichester Harbour. Sold to Alexander Cruisers before 1999 and called Amelia. No sighting since. BA confirm E13 is no longer on Broads I have ed the Harbourmaster at Chichester to see if he has any info.
