A trip across Australia (by travel writer Thomas Jones) I left Perth with another group of travelers on Monday morning at 5 a. m. We drove until about 5.30 p. m., then we set up our tents, made a campfire and cooked dinner. After dinner, we sat and talked and watched the sun set over the horizon. There was a beautiful, full moon that night and the sunrise the next morning was as spectacular. We did exactly the same next day. We drove all day and then set up camp in a campsite. It was a long journey and the campsite wasn`t the cleanest place I`ve stayed in, so I was glad to get away the next day. We finally arrived in Karinji National Park on Wednesday at around lunchtime. The park is a desert with wild dingoes, snakes, gum trees and gorges. It`s a really amazing place. We set up camp, had lunch then went trekking. We stopped only to take photos and go for a swim in the river. The next day, we went to the Karinji Visitor Centre where we saw an exhibition on Aboriginal history. We then returned to the camp, made lunch and hiked down to Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool where we swam beneath the waterfalls in turquoise pools and sat in the sun on the rocks. On Friday, we drove to Coral Bay where the landscape is completely different from the desert landscape of the park. There is vegetation and of course, sea and sand and sheep, horses and

4 kangaroos all around. We stayed on a farm that had showers, a kitchen and electricity. It was far more comfortable than sleeping in a tent. On Saturday, we went on a trip in a glass-bottomed boat at Ningaloo Reef. When we were snorkeling, we saw some beautiful coloured fish of all shapes and sizes darting all around reefs. After this, we decided to quad biking across the beaches. We went to Turtle Cove where you can see the sea turtles in the waves eating see grass. That was definitely the highlight of the trip for me. The next day, we left early to head off to a place called Monkey Mia. 1. In the first day, the writer and his group travelled for more than twelve hours. 2. He was pleased with the accommodation for the second night. 3. Visitors can see the wildlife at the Karinji Park. 4. The writer and his group explored the Karinji Park on foot. 5. They were able to wash and cook at Coral Bay. 6. The writer`s favourite moment was watching the fish.
