3 YOUR ITINERARY Day 1: Board Your Overnight Flight to Sydney! Day 2: Cross the International Date Line! Day 3: Sydney Arrive in Sydney Touch down in Sydney, Australia's oldest and largest city. After clearing customs, you are greeted by your tour director, who will remain with you throughout your stay. Walking Tour of the Rocks (time permitting) Enjoy a walking tour through the historic Rocks area, where Australia's first fleet of European settlers landed in Built upon a sandstone foundation from which the area gets its name, today the Rocks serves as a cultural and historical meeting place for Sydney locals and visitors alike. Stroll through the narrow, cobblestone streets to find galleries, restaurants and shops around every corner. If you're there on a Saturday or Sunday, explore the fabulous weekend street market-a tented city block filled with handcrafts, art and local foods. Street performers treat onlookers with examples of their skill. Don't be surprised if you're asked to try out your lung power on one of the world's oldest instruments: the didgeridoo! Dinner is included this evening. Day 4: Sydney Sightseeing of Sydney With your tour director, learn about the city's early days as a land for exiled convicts during your Sydney sightseeing. Take a seat on Mrs. Macquarie's Chair, a sandstone bench supposedly hand carved by convicts for Governor Macquarie's wife in From this legendary perch, take in spectacular views of Sydney Harbor and the world-famous Sydney Opera House. Continue to The Gap, an ocean cliff that overlooks the point where Captain Arthur Phillip's fleet first entered Port Jackson to establish the settlement that would become Australia. After a stop at Bondi Beach, drive through the historic Rocks district and pass beneath the Sydney Harbor Bridge. See the National Opal Collection Learn about Australia's national gemstone, the opal, at the country's prized exhibition. Highlights include the opalized skeleton of a pliosaur --named Eric --that dates back 110 million years. Take a Cruise of Sydney Harbor Board your boat for a scenic cruise through beautiful Sydney Harbor. You'll also visit Darling Harbor, where a complex of shops, gardens and museums opened for the 1988 bicentennial. Visit the Sydney Tower Eye Enjoy a bird's-eye view of the city from the observation deck of Sydney Tower. At 1,063 feet, it's the second-tallest building south of the Equator. Visit the Sydney Wildlife World Get up close and personal with exotic animals at the brand-new Sydney Wildlife World in Darling Harbor! Keep your eyes out for kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles and more. Day 5: Sydney Tour of the Opera House Join a friendly and experienced guide on a tour of the Sydney Opera House, Danish architect Jorn Utzon's masterpiece and home to hundreds of acclaimed performances each year. Free Afternoon in Sydney Enjoy free time in the most populous city in Australia by exploring the beautiful botanical parks, dozens of museums or rubbing elbows with local Sydneysiders. Day 6: Sydney Cairns Fly to Cairns Board a flight in Sydney on your way to Cairns, a city in Queensland popular with international vacationers. Day 7: Cairns Great Barrier Reef Cruise Discover Australia's magnificent Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders of the world. Cruise from Cairns via speedy air-conditioned catamaran to the Outer Reef. After mooring at Moore Reef, which teems with multi-colored underwater life, you can opt to walk, swim, snorkel, or take a semi-submersible or glass-bottomed boat ride to view the best of this underwater scenery: the electric colors of tropical fish, swaying plants, and beautiful corals. Morning tea and a buffet lunch are included. Optional: Snorkeling with a Marine Biologist An underwater world opens up before your eyes on this optional excursion. Get up close to the incredible scenery of the Great Barrier Reef: the electric colors of tropical fish, swaying plants and exquisite corals. Day 8: Cairns Excursion to Kuranda Begin your full-day excursion with a scenic train ride up the lush Atherton Tablelands, a tropical rainforest home to crystal clear crater lakes, pristine waterfalls and dramatic mountain ranges. The railway will bring you to the rainforest village of Kuranda. After time for browsing in the markets of Kuranda, descend down the escarpment on the Skyrail, the fi rst ecotourism rail system in the world. Take in breathtaking aerial views of the rainforest canopy below while rangers discuss the rainforest and its inhabitants. Upon reaching the foot of the valley, visit the Tjapukai Aboriginal Park and learn about traditional Aboriginal culture and customs through the interpretive exhibits there.

4 Day 9: Cairns Free Day in Cairns Enjoy a free day in the coastal city of Cairns, the last major settlement in Far North Queensland. Here older homes are built in the traditional style of the area - on stilts! Hedged in by mangroves, you might wish to stroll along the waterfront esplanade, shaded by tropical plants and fig trees. Dinner is included this evening. Day 10: Board Return Flight Home Transfer to the Cairns Airport for Your Return Flight Your tour director assists with your transfer to the airport, where you'll check in for your return flight home.
