The members of the official bodies involved in the search for suitable sites and their roles are presented below. Nuclear Waste Management Advisory Board The Advisory Board supports the Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications with the implementation of the site selection procedure. Thanks to its independent status and its function as a national advisory board, it is able to offer views from an outside perspective. It supports the SFOE in any conflicts that may arise, and with the planning of communication activities. It plans and co-ordinates the various stages of the process, and secures the required co-operation between the involved federal authorities. Its other duties include quality assurance, reporting and risk management. COO
