3 MNUTES OF THE GANARASKA FOREST RECREATON USERS COMMTEE JUNE 2,2011 UC 2/11 1. Welcome and Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. Members of the committee were welcomed. 4 Minutes UC 2/11 - June 2, UC 9/11 MOVED BY: SECONDED Brian Sheppard BY: Bob Short THAT the agenda be adopted as distributed. CARRED. 5. Delegations Treetop Trekking - see attached staff report under New Business Michael Wake, Manager of Treetop Trekking, provided the members with a presentation on the aerial park planned for the Ganaraska Forest Centre. The presentation consisted of a power point presentation and short video that was filmed at TTT's aerial park located at Horseshoe Valley Resort. Members had several questions after the presentation. Anne Vavra asked about the size of the park and Mike responded that it would be smaller than other parks they operate, with about 45 platforms and 3 or 4 courses. Mike also mentioned that the park could be expanded, in consultation with the GReA, over a period of time but would remain within the same parcel of land. Bob Short inquired about fees for park use and Mike replied that the Ganaraska course would be in the range of $45 per person with school groups receiving a Significant discount, priced at about $20 per student. Questions were raised about the number of people that would visit the park daily and the number of parking spaces required. Mike stated that during peak times (weekends during the summer) 150 to 200 people may visit, with about 50 people on site at a time. The course would take two to three hours for most people to complete. Mike estimated that 20 cars would be parked at the GFC at a time. Anne Vavra expressed concern about the proximity of the park to the horse paddock. Staff commented that this concern had been considered and discussed with TT and that the park would be constructed towards the east of the site in order to create some separation from the horse paddock. Mike commented that noise created by park use is less than most people would expect. The question was raised if TT would be hiring locally in order to staff the park and Mike responded that the majority of staff would be hired locally and that 12 to 15 staff would be required. The Chair inquired as to how information concerning the park would be passed on to the RUe and was told that staff would bring forward any information or concerns regarding the park's operation to the committee.

5 Minutes UC 2/11 - June 2, Staff commented that having an aerial park featuring a high ropes course will provide an exciting new element to both recreational use for the public and programs for school groups and will increase the popularity of and revenue generated by the Ganaraska Forest and the GFC. The members enjoyed Mike's presentation, were satisfied with answers to their questions and supportive of the partnership between the GRCA and TT. Following the discussion the committee passed the following motion: UC 10/11 MOVED BY: Peter Kennedy SECONDED BY: Bill Stapleton THAT the staff report under New Business regarding Treetop Trekking be received for information CARRED. 6. Business arising from Minutes (a) Enforcement Update - see attached staff report Staff provided the members with a report on police enforcement and the volunteer program. UC 11/11 MOVED BY: Randy Cunningham SECONDED BY: Bill Stapleton THAT the staff report on enforcement CARRED. be received for information. (b) Change in off-road motorcycle club representation - verbal report Staff informed the members that they had received a letter from the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders (see correspondence) appointing Bill Watson as the club's representative and Brian Hruda as the alternate representative. Staff and the Chair welcomed Bill to the committee. (e) Equestrian access to the GFC - see attached staff report Staff reviewed the contents of the staff report which provided an update on the construction of the horse paddock at the Forest Centre.
