6 2017 DAWSON CALLIDE VALLEY SENIORS TOURNAMENT MAY 2017 DCV Open Seniors Tournament report. The DCVSTA held its Open Seniors Tournament in Biloela on May 20-21, 2017 with 69 players taking part. With players travelling from the Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Kingaroy, Bundaberg, Agnes Waters, Yeppoon, Gladstone and Rockhampton as well as our 6 DCV towns (including Tannum Sands), the radar was checked continuously during the week. We really appreciate3d that no-one pulled out during the week because of the uncertain conditions. While we got three sessions finished without interruption, Saturday afternoon had to be abandoned around 4pm. In the one event where a winner could not be determined by the results, names went into a hat. It was great to have some new faces amongst the strong support from our local seniors. Eight locals played for the first time and most went home with a trophy. The standard of tennis was good across the board, resulting in some long matches. Barbara Ball and Peggy Sack kept everyone entertained at the RSL on Saturday night, which we all enjoyed. Thanks to Clarice White (Secretary of Dawson Callide Valley Seniors Tennis Assn) for this report.
