3 l TRANSPORT NOTES - Weekend services are less frequent The Transport Information Line is check both departure and arrival times, fares and ticket type Rail: Bus: Bus ticketing: If arriving at Parramatta from your accommodation, join buses M52, 520, 521 Eastwood, 523 & 524 Ryde or 525 Burwood at Stand 2 to UWS. Bus tickets CANNOT be bought on any bus in Sydney City CBO or Parramatta Interchange Monday to Friday between hours. Ticket vending machines are at stations. Consult the Infoline to find the best value ticket for the length of your stay and the closest place for you to pre-purchase a ticket on a weekday. A multi-tu allows for cross-modal trips. Pensioner or Seniors Card holders can buy a daily ticket for $2.50 which is transferable across all transport modes and are also available from vending machines. From Sydney CBO Locales. - Base Backpackers, Harbour Rocks Hotel and Sydney Harbour YHA need some travelling time along Victoria Road on the M52 Parramatta or 520 Parramatta bus route, which stop right at the University of Western Sydney. They start from Circular Quay at Stand C (when there is enough room). - YHA Central and YHA Railway Square, Bed and Breakfast Sydney Central can join trains to Parramatta at Central Station from Platform Trains from Circular Quay (Platform 1 and known as the City Circle Line) schedule alternate destinations via Parramatta. But board any train to change at Wynyard (Platform 4) or better, at Town Hall where trains to Parramatta depart from Platform 2 opposite. Change at Parramatta for the M52 City, 520 City, 521 Eastwood, 523 & 524 West Ryde and 525 Burwood (via Strathfield) at at the top of the short escalator. All these buses stop at the University of Western Sydney. There are separate bus stops for different routes and destinations in both Sydney and Parramatta. Sydney CBO bus stops with the prefix '5' are at Circular Quay between Pitt and Loftus Streets, in George Street opposite Essex Street, near Wynyard Station just east of Hunter Street at Australia Square, on the east side of King Street and beside the Sydney Town Hall on Oruitt Street between Clarence and Kent Streets. Other bus stops are for other routes and destinations. Parramatta Interchange bus stop for the University of Western Sydney is. At Parramatta AFTER lp.m. ALL buses depart from either (N & NE) or (S, W & SW). If joining a bus in Parramatta other than at the station, there are two stops each way in Smith Street for the three Prefix '5' buses you need for the University. At these stops you can purchase a ticket on the bus on weekdays. Outward bound the stops are south side of George Street and north side of Phillip Street. ' The M54 Parramatta bus links Epping, Macquarie Park and Macquarie University via Pennant Hills Road to Parramatta. The return trip departs from Stand A3 and is via Church Street, Parramatta and does not go past UWS. Change at Parramatta Stand 2 for the M52 City, 520 City, 521 Eastwood, 523 & 524 West Ryde and 525 Burwood (via Strathfield). All these stop at University of Western Sydney. The Rivercat from Circular Quay, is not a direct option at present for reaching the University. The Parramatta terminus is at Charles Street 5 minutes from the Interchange. It is a long trip but the terminus is one block from the Smith and Phillip Streets bus stop at which the buses M52 City, 520 City, 521 Eastwood, 523 & 524 West Ryde and 525 Burwood (via Strathfield), operate to the University of Western Sydney and at which you can purchase a ticket. THE AIRPORT RAIL LINE Built by private enterprise as a stand-alone connection to Sydney City, this is now incorporated into the metropolitan network. The section over the former private line is fairly expensive but there are rail connections at Central Railway - go to Platform 18 for Parramatta. Tickets for both the airport and metropolitan lines can be purchased at the airport station. If coming by air use it! exposure to the weather, no queuing at taxi ranks for high costs in thick traffic and narrow streets - and less CO2, TRAIN From Sydney CBO - see above for both train and bus. From Blacktown area, Penrith, Pendle Hill, Blue Mountains and the Richmond Line alight at Parramatta for buses to UWS. M52 City, 520 City, 521 Eastwood, 523 & 524 West Ryde and 525 Burwood (via Strathfield). (Go to Bus.)

4 From Sydney City: Platform 1 at Circular Quay and change at Wynyard to Platform 4 or Town Hall to Platform 2 at Town Hall (easiest) or Platform 18 at Central to join a train for Parramatta. (Go to Bus.) From Strathfield: Platform 6. This is the same line as from Sydney City (above). Burwood Station is one station from Strathfield and most trains stop at Strathfield. From Epping or Eastwood a train to Strathfield, go to Platform 6 for Parramatta. (An M54 Parramatta bus along Pennant Hills Road links Macquarie University, Epping, Carlingford and into Parramatta.). The Carlingford Rail Line: All trains on the main western line in either direction go through Clyde but do not stop unless timetabled to connect with the Carlingford Line. You could be 'different' and try it. Change at Clyde (three stations before Parramatta), alight at Rydalmere (the third station), go up the stairs to Victoria Road, turn west over the bridge to the University of Western Sydney. Check for actual times and frequency of services; hourly on weekends. From here go up the stairs to Victoria Road, turn west over the bridge to the entrance of the University of Western Sydney. Bus Route 545 A circuitous route goes from Eastwood to Parramatta. There is a bus stop at Collett ParkNictoria Road. Walk a few metres to UWS Village (Pemberton StreeUVictoria Road). (The bus actually starts in Chatswood via Macquarie Park and Macquarie University before reaching Eastwood.) A 7-day a week SHUTTLE BUS departs every 15 minutes from UWS Village (Pemberton Street &Victoria Road) to UWS South Campus and the Summit. DO NOT ATTEMPT PEDESTRIAN ACCESS -IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS - USE THAT SHUTTLE BUS. BUS STAND at Parramatta Arriving at Parramatta Station is right at the top. The routes Sydney. If arriving by train take Interchange to the bus stop at UWS, Victoria Road by bus at Stand B3, go down the stairs or escalator, under the interchange and up the short escalator on your left. Your M2 City, 520 City, 521 Eastwood, 523 & 524 West Ryde and 525 Burwood via Smith Street from here stop at University of Western the short escalator up to which can be seen from the ticket barrier. BUSES - to rth and rth-west from Parramatta From Stand A4 the M60 bus is via rthmead, Winston Hills, Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, Pennant Hills and to Hornsby on the Main rth Rail Line. From Stand there are also T-buses (Transit buses) to the north-west via various local routes. T60 Winston Hills-Castle Hill, T61 Kings Langley, Blacktown, T62 Bellavista-Castle Hill, T63 Glenwood-Rouse Hill, T64 Bella Vista-Rouse Hill, T65 Rouse Hill, T66 Milford Drive-Rouse Hill. BUSES - to South and South-West from Parramatta T-Way Stand To the Liverpool, Warwick Farm, Greystanes, Guildford area - there is a T-WA Y (bus) service, Route T80. Train is quicker but the connection is at Granville with no direct connection to the University of Western Sydney (see Taxis below). It is best to seek accommodation close to Parramatta, on the rth side of the Main Western Rail Line with access to Parramatta and the M52 City and 520 City and other bus routes along Victoria Road to UWS indicated above as departing. There are two bus routes from Parramatta via Guildford Route 804 Liverpool from Stand and Route 906 Fairfield from Stand. PEDESTRIANS (Shank's Pony) From the three hotels on James Ruse Drive, Quest Rosehill Apartments and the Mecure, the University is not all that far. There is no public transport other than to wait for the Carlingford Line train at Rosehill or Camellia Stations and alight at Rydalmere. From this accommodation you can walk north along James Ruse Drive on its west side. Cross Hassell Street near the Mecure Hotel and the Parramatta River. Immediately, there is Thomas Street on your left from which corner a shared pathway doubles back under the road bridge onto the University site. Either go up steps between white walled balustrades or continue along an asphalt path. (The pebbled path continues along the river.) AFTER MIDNIGHT in SYDNEY and PARRAMATTA This is 'Nightride' time. You will need to check if bus departure stands change (in. Parramatta only stands or operate AFTER 7 p.m. for safety) whether 'Nightride' buses replace trains after midnight, where at and where to, which route and bus number when the last train or bus runs. 5 TAXIS AT PARRAMATTA These are located on Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta. If alighting from a train at Parramatta, go south under the whole underpass and up the long escalators (where B bus stands are also located) and continue up a couple of steps to Fitzwilliam Street. TAXIS AT GRANVILLE Granville is the obvious connection to the University and Rosehill Racecourse (Gardens) on a map. But it does not exist. The Carlingford train does not depart from here but Clyde. To walk to UWS from here is tortuous, circuitous and seemingly so indirect. Take a taxi instead. The taxi stands are in South Street at the corner of Railway Parade. Go to the south side of the station and down the ramp. The University of Western Sydney is not far - an indirect route and traffic signals are the delays. It appears that the Taxi company Premier is the main operator in the Granville area: Tel GRANVILLE - INDIRECT BENEFITS Train services at Granville present the commuter with many more and frequent train services to Sydney City, Western and South-Western Sydney and the main stations en route. All the services from the south-west line, Liverpool, Campbelltown, etc. join the main western line here. ASK AT THE SUMMIT FOR A LIFT TO GRANVILLE TICKETS: Any type of ticket can be bought on. bus on weekends. tickets can be purchased on a bus between 0700 and 1900 hours weekdays in Sydney City or at Parramatta Interchange. Should you not have a ticket and need to use the Nightride services, a only single journey ticket to your destination can be purchased on the bus. TIPS: Trip planner on your mobile com.au.
