2 Our Vision: - The long-term vision for Muskoka Airport is that it will continue to be a commercial Airport, which effectively yp promotes and serves the social and economic needs of The District Municipality of Muskoka (2006 Strategic Business Plan)

3 Main runway is paved 6,000 feet long by 150 feet wide: - Equipped with lights & serviced year round - LSR (5,000 6,000 x 100) - Collingwood (5,000 x 100) - Parry Sound (4,000 x 75) - Peterborough (5,000 7,000 x 100)

4 Secondary runway is turf 2,199 feet long by 100 feet wide: - No lighting and no winter maintenance

5 What is the Muskoka Airport? - Open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year - Canada Customs Airport of Entry - MF Radio system operated db by NAV CANADA out of fti Timmins i - Automated weather station monitored by NAV CANADA - Owned & Operated by The District Municipality of Muskoka - Certified by Transport Canada (identified as CYQA)

7 During the G8 Summit of 2010, we hosted 4 landings of the US Air Force C17 Globe Master -The C17 is the largest aircraft we have ever handled with a wing span of 170 feet and a gross takeoff weight of 415,000 lbs

17 - The location of the Airport influences surrounding development through Federal Zoning Regulations

18 - The lands surrounding the Airport also influence future growth and development of the Airport itself due to wetlands and other physical limitations

19 When did it all begin? - Construction of the Reay Airport began in grass runways built as part of the Trans-Canada Airway -1 st Aircraft landed in September of 1935 (American owned) - Officially opened as Muskoka Airport in September of Transferred to Royal Norwegian Air Force in 1942

20 - Transferred back to Canadian control after WWII - In 1952, DND built the 6,000 foot paved runway as an emergency field for their CF-100 and CF-86 fighter jets - Transferred to The District of Muskoka on October 31, In 2001, Canada designated Norwegian Training an event of national historical significance - In July 2005, District Council agreed to retain ownership - October 31, 2006, the Transfer Agreement expired

21 What was our direction? 1996 Business & Marketing Plan: - Airport is an economic development catalyst - Airport is valuable transportation infrastructure - Majority of small airports require municipal support 2006 Strategic Business Plan: - Respond effectively to development opportunities i - Foster aviation related business growth & development 2008 Strategic Priorities i i - Develop the Muskoka Airport as an economic development tool that supports the social and business needs of Muskoka

22 Accomplishments: - Since taking over the airport in 1996, the District of Muskoka has: - Initiated Sale of Lands (total of 9) - New Leases (5 ) + Covered Tie-downs (4) - Relocated the AP Manager & Staff to Terminal - Obtained the Imperial Oil FBO - Implemented a GIS Approach for 18/36 - Expanded Public Apron -Expanded Taxiway Network - Resurfaced Existing Taxiways - Refurbished Terminal (many more amenities) - Added the Little Norway Memorial - Replaced the Runway Lighting System

23 Accomplishments: - Since taking over the airport in 1996, the District of Muskoka has (cont d): - Improved Security - Chain Link Fence & Gates - Replaced the Sand Storage Shed - Replaced Esso Fuel Farm and Fleet Fuel Tanks - Built an Equipment Storage Facility - south end - Upgraded d Fleet Vehicles (replaced 7 of 9) - Worked with Nav Canada to Replace AWOS - Developed an Airport Website - Developed CYQA Image (logo, uniforms, etc.) - Implemented New Services (GPU, catering, etc.) - Improved Safety (SMS, Wildlife Plan, Signs, etc.) - Event Hosting (Airshows Airshows, Schools, G8.)

30 How do we operate? - We are certified and regulated by Transport Canada, subject to inspection and strict regulations (registered aerodromes operate under only a few basic guidelines) -We are mandated under the Aeronautics Act to prepare and adhere to an Airport Operations Manual, Emergency Response Plan, Snow Removal Plan, Wildlife Risk Assessment and Management Plan, A Safety Management System, and other guiding documents and regulations - Our employees are subject to the Canada Labour Code and development falls under the Federal Building Code and Federal Fire Codes as the employees and lands are federally regulated.

34 Little Norway Memorial: - District worked with Norway, FedNor Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion - Provides an excellent attraction for the air terminal building - The Little Norway Memorial commemorates the lives and sacrifices of those that trained at Little Norway ensuring that their legacy will not be forgotten and to provide understanding and appreciation of the long-standing and continuing connections between Norway and Canada - New bronze plaques recognizing the Norwegian Casualties recently installed - Plans are underway to coordinate an unveiling celebration this year - The Little Norway Memorial displays belong to the Government of Norway and are managed through the Norwegian Embassy

36 Aviation Fuel Dealership: - We operate an Aviation Fuel Dealership called a Fixed Base Operation (FBO) in the aviation industry - We are a branded dealer for Imperial Oil with two new 50,000 litre fuel tanks for jet fuel and avgas along with a 13,000 litre fuel delivery truck for jet fuel - The FBO is our primary source of revenue accounting for more than half of our annual revenue it is also our biggest workload during the summer - Approximately 70% of our traffic and fuel sales occur during the summer months (our Niche unique for the area)
