1 2017 paragliding competition rules 1. Overall The competition of the "Montegrappa Trophy 2017" is run as FAI Category 2 paragliding international event. "Aero Club Blue Phoenix" located in Via Palladio 90, Caltrano (VI) - Italy is the main organizing reference. 2. Location Flight Area: Veneto-Friuli foothills, Feltre, and NorthEst Alps(Italy). Headquarter: the landing at PIAZZA PARADISO Borso del Grappa (TV) Italy 3. Period The race will take place from 13th to 17th April, Daily program Program may change depending on weather conditions or organizational needs. Validation and rankings The contest will be valid for awarding the title of "Montegrappa Trophy 2017" Champion, if minimum one task is valid. Following rankings will be fulfilled : i. OVERALL ii. SPORT (with at least 10 participants) iii. SERIAL (with at least 10 participants) iv. Women (with at least 5 participants) v. Clubs (3 best pilots for Club each task) OVERALL For all pilots flying certified EN B - EN C - EN D - EN CCC or DHV/LTF 2/ 2-3 paragliders. If there is a double homologation, the more restrictive will be considered valid. SPORT Reserved for pilots flying certified EN B - EN C - EN D or DHV/LTF 2/2-3. If there is a double homologation, the more restrictive will be considered valid. SERIAL Reserved for pilots flying certified EN B EN C o DHV/LTF 2. If there is a double homologation, the more restrictive will be considered valid. 6. Participants and selection The maximum number of entries admitted in the contest is 150 pilots: i. 120 places will be assigned to selected pilots, according to the January 27, 2017 FAI ranking WPRO ii. 10 places will be assigned to women iii.20 wild cards, assigned by the organization

3 In compliance with National Sporting Regulation 2016 (app. B.3), about 40% of the available places will be guaranteed to the Italian pilots. Selection will be made according to the Italian Overall Ranking of October 31, In case of ranking draw results, pilot that results pre-registered first will have priority. Registration of the entries will become effective only after the entry fees payment. Payment has to be done within 7 days after the pilot confirmation date. Confirmation will be sent to the pilots by and published in the list of confirmed participants. The organization may accept or not the registration of each pilot. Pilots may be excluded from the contest for reasons related to safety or in case of inability to verify the pilot references regards legal obligations. 7. Registration Pre-registrations only through the web site Deadline will be the 1st March List of confirmed pilots will be published within the 02 March A valid third-party Insurance is mandatory. Only pre-registered pilots will be accepted, and only pilots with valid FAI licence will be admitted. Pilots are required to have valid 2017 FAI licence. 8. Entry fee and payment Entry fee is and it includes: i. 1 Dinner offered by the organization ii. Packed-lunch for all days of competition iii. Gadgets iv. Emergency service, ambulance and doctor for all race days v. Transport to take off for all race days vi. Retrieval for all race days vii. Live tracking viii. Flycard valid for one year Fees paid will not be returned for any reason or for any claim.

4 Should not be any valid task, part of the paid fee will be refunded to each registered pilot, with a minimum amount of to a maximum of 80.00, depending on the costs incurred by the organization. The entry fee must be paid within 7 days after the confirmation ( ), by bank transfer or Pay-pal. An additional fee of 40,00 will be charge for delayed payment. Confirmation of payment (copy of transfer) must be sent by to this address: para@trofeomontegrappa.it 9. Awards and Prizes Winners must be present at the awards ceremony to collect the prize. We do not accept proxies. Prizes not claimed will remain at the Aero Club Montegrappa. 10. Complaints Any complaints must be submitted before 9.00 am on the day following publication of the provisional ranking or within 30 minutes of the publication of the final ranking. Headquarter and Registration Headquarter will be set up at Piazza Paradiso - Borso del Grappa (TV), Italy The registrations fulfilment will be the 12 April: from to 22.00; Opening Briefing will be at the head-quarter on Thursday, the 13 April: 8.15, Documents to show for the registration (MANDATORY) i. Gliders admitted Only paragliders approved by institutions in accordance with EN 926-2e EN will be allowed. All paragliders non-performing and non-successfully passing all tests (structural and in flight) provided by homologation tests and EN F will be excluded.

5 All EN B and C gliders are accepted as they are. All EN D gliders with flat aspect ratio of 7.0 or less are accepted as they are. EN gliders EN certified in time for the 2014 European championship with flat aspect ratio higher than 7.0 (Axis Mercury Sport, Gin Boomerang 9, Niviuk Icepeak 7 Pro, Ozone Enzo 1 & 2, Swing Core 3 ) have to comply with the following CCC requirements: i. CCC lines. ii. Risers limiters installed. iii. Measurement File has to be filled only with: line and riser length, drawing of riser, table of lines quality. iv. Updated users manual, including the Measurement File. v. Test Laboratories send to CIVL the Certification of Compliance and Measurement File. In this respect, pilots may consult the reference FAI web site: Gliders homologation will be proven through the publication of certificate on the issuing institution website. The certification has to show the date of homologation. The date must be earlier than the first race day of the Trofeo Montegrappa Pilots who will modify the glider, lines, risers (p.es.: operating trim or using knots), when not provided for homologation, will be disqualified. Likewise, pilots will be disqualified if they will use a modified speed bar to that provided by homologation. The pilot shall weight in flight within the range expected by the glider certification, otherwise the pilot will be disqualified. It is MANDATORY to use an homologated helmet (EN 966). It is a MANDATORY safety requirement to possess a LPD or VHF radio device, turned on and tuned to the frequencies set by the organization. 13. GPS, Software and Scoring FS scoring program (fs.fai.org), using CIVL GAP scoring formula PWC2015, will be used to complete the rankings. The GPS must record the flight barometric and GPS altitude. 6 Nominal goal: 30 % Nominal time: 1.5h Score backtime in case of stopped task: 5 min FTV: 25% Tracklogs will be directly downloaded from Livetracking logs. Other devices may be used as backup. The organization will provide cables for Brauniger (Compeo, Compeo +), Compass, Garmin and Digifly. If you use a different GPS it will be your care to provide a suitable cable. The MapDatum will be WGS84 and the waypoints are in UTM format. 14. Live Tracking The organization of Montegrappa Trophy 2017 will provide to all pilots an equipment for the Live Tracking (LTD: device for real time tracking) to be used in each task. These devices will be used to increase safety, achieve significant media impact and to improve recovery services pilots. The devices will be also used as primary source for scoring. Pilots will receive their LTD, turned on, every morning, as they register for flying. They have to keep it with them during the flight, always turned on, and they will give back it at the head-quarter, during the report back and GPS track download. The organization will be responsible for charging all LTDs and deliver them to the pilots every flying day. The pilots, upon receipt of their LTD will be responsible for the proper use and maintenance of it, making sure it is turned on during the flight and returning to the organization at the end of each task. Instructions on the use of the devices will be given during the briefing.
