3 FliteStar Return Policy FliteStar is covered by a 30-day money back guarantee provided by Jeppesen. If you need to return FliteStar for any reason, please follow the instructions outlined below to ensure that your repair or refund is handled promptly and efficiently. Return for refund within 30 days of purchase FliteStar is returnable and refundable for a period of 30 days from the shipping date shown on your invoice if it is returned in its original packaging and is undamaged. If the product fails to meet your expectations during this period, please call Jeppesen (800) in the western hemisphere or in the eastern hemisphere. Our representatives will verify your purchase, provide de-installation instructions if appropriate, and issue a return authorization number (RA number). Please package the product securely, enclose a copy of your purchase invoice, write your RA number on both the invoice and on the outside of the package, and mail it to the address shown below. A refund will be sent to you within 30 days. You may copy the software for backup purposes. If the software is permanently installed on the hard disk or other storage device of a computer (other than a network server) and if you use that computer more than 80 percent of the time that it is in use, then you may also install the software on a home or notebook computer, provided that, "like a book," no more than one person can use the software at the same time. What You May Not Do Without the express written permission from Jeppesen, you may not use the software in a computer service business including rental, networking, or timesharing application, nor may you use it for multiple user applications in the absence of individual licenses or written permission from Jeppesen. You may not copy, modify, or transfer, electronically or otherwise, the software or copies of it, except as provided above. You may not use the software on a network without purchasing a copy for each terminal that has access to it. iii

4 Warranty Remedy Jeppesen warrants to you that, for a period of sixty (60) days normal use from your date of purchase, that the software media (the CDs) and the documentation are not defective. It further warrants the enclosed disks have properly recorded software; the documentation is substantially complete and contains all the information Jeppesen deems necessary to use the software; and the software functions substantially as described in the documentation. Your exclusive remedy shall be the replacement of any CD or documentation not meeting these warranties, which you returned to Jeppesen or authorized dealer, together with a copy of your paid receipt. Jeppesen will provide replacement CDs. The above is the only warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to the implied warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular use that is made by Jeppesen on this licensed software. In no event shall Jeppesen be liable to you or any third party for consequential, special, indirect or incidental damages that you may incur as a result of using the licensed software, including, but not limited to, loss of data, or information of any kind that you may experience. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that may vary from state to state. AS PILOT IN COMMAND, YOU ARE THE FINAL AUTHORITY ON THE ACCURACY AND SUFFICIENCY OF FLITESTAR INFORMATION. DO NOT USE FLITESTAR AS A SOLE SOURCE OF NAVIGATION INFORMATION, AND MAKE SURE YOUR AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH APPROVED IFR NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT IF FLYING IN INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS. 5 HOW TO USE THIS USER S GUIDE This version of the manual has been updated along with the online Help for both the first time and the experienced FliteStar user. Since all versions of FliteStar (VFR, IFR, and Corporate) operate similarly, this user's guide has been written to apply to all variants of the program. Features and enhancements added after the manual printing will be described in the README file included with each program update and later on the website at Further information regarding the FliteStar features is also contained in the online Help and the remaining chapters of this guide Our intent is for you to become comfortable using the full program capabilities for safe and effective flight planning. To make this guide more useful and easier to read, notes, tips, cautions, and warnings are labled using the following icons: Note Tip Caution Warning Notes to Previous Users FliteStar 9.x is a new program. The computer code that drives the software has been rewritten to accomplish several things including faster, more reliable operation, increased graphics support, improved routing, and much more. While creating the new program, considerable effort was made to maintain the same functionality of earlier versions of the program. Nevertheless, we were unable to support some aspects of the previous versions in the new format. If you have upgraded to version 9.x from an earlier version of FliteStar some of the things you will notice include: Many functions including modifications to reports, chart properties, route properties, point and click route creation, and more are controlled through a right click menu. v

6 While FliteStar 9.x is a new program, most experienced FliteStar users should find a great deal of similarity between the old and new versions. The changes that you will notice were primarily done to increase the usability, features, and ability of the program to accept future enhancements. Although some aspects of the program may take some getting used to, we believe that the improvements make the transition a worthwhile experience. We trust you will agree. vi
