6 HCA Airport s UAS vision: HCA Airport wants to be the leading European test centre of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). We have established UAS TEST CENTER Denmark. UAS Test Center Denmark is dedicated to safety, service, flexibility and professional competencies. HCA Airport s UAS mission is to: Become facilitator for safe and unrestricted UAS flights. Offer an industrial certification of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV s) in collaboration with the Danish Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) and other relevant parties. Create attention and discussion concerning safety in developing and usage of UAS. Be center of an industrial cluster in relation to UAS activities (for example through the industry network UAS Denmark) Create opportunities for safe flights beyond line of sight. Establish a permanent flight test area. Facilitate training for operators etc.

7 UAS TEST CENTER DENMARK (UAS TCD): TEST AIRSPACE UAS airspace for testing, training and demonstrations Short and effective in-house approval process Small UAS (up to 25 kg) can operate in segregated airspace of app. 2,5 x 6 km x ft. Heavier UAS or larger airspace can be approved by Danish CAA BVLOS-corridor (planned)

8 UAS TCD: Photogrammetric test field / Construction starts sept / Main purposes: 1. Documentation and verification of technology (photogrammetry) 2. Training with suas (inspection etc.) / Cooperation with Danish Geodata Agency and COWI / Part of a larger test-field for manned aircraft being built Q3-Q / Defense part of associated working group Photogrammetry: / An independent basis for control of geometric (objects) and radiometric (surfaces) precision of UAS systems / Benchmarking of sensors and systems for the benefit of the industry and data users e.g. Danish Defence

9 Rules for operating UAS / Based on MTOW / In Europe: / >150kg subject to EASA rules & certification / <150 kg subject to (different) national rules. / National rules no harmonization / Tendancy that weight class differentiation is used by CAA / CAA DK: BL 9-4 (model aircraft regulation), AIC B 08/14 (commercial use) / Current rules: Always in line of sight / Beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) on dispensation only

10 AFIS role in UAS operations at HCAA / AFIS role to ensure that UAS does not endanger other traffic in TIZ. / Assist with hazard identification and risk assessment / Procedures developed: / Planning of flights / Airspace closure/opening - Issue of NOTAM / Coordination with ATCC Copenhagen / Information for UAS operators / Logging / Observe flights / Incident registration, information gathering.

12 UAS TCD: Flight academy / Drone driver s license expected to be mandatory in Denmark / UAS TCD will offer ground school from Oct / Within one year: Flight training / Two instructors trained in UK / Platform for other educational activities universities and vocational education

13 UAS TCD: Qualified Entity / Short run: Trafikstyrelsen will delegate responsibility for operator approval etc. to industry from January 2015: UAS TCD will bid! / Long run: UAS TCD as a center for development of standards, certification and validation.
