1 Budget Narrative Amount Requested: 84, Provide a detailed explanation of expenditures included on the 424-A Budget form. Budget Narrative: 6a. & 6b. Total personnel and fringe: $56, Total personnel and fringe equals 66% of the total budget (calculated by dividing the total personnel and fringe by the total project cost: $84,874.05/ $56,408.90). The Cost per producer is $38.40 (calculated by dividing the total project cost by the number of producers reached: $84,874.05/2,210). Employee Salary and Fringe Calculation: Project salary was calculated by multiplying the annual salary by the percent of time spent on the project. Fringe was calculated by multiplying the project salary by the fringe rate of 20 percent. Terry Jones is a FTE employee of ABC Corporation Project Salary = $17,200.00; Project Fringe = $3, (Based on Annual Salary = $86,000.00; Fringe Rate = 20%; FTE rate % = 20%) Co-Project Director Samantha Bright will devote 20 percent of her time on this project, and will be responsible for all grant administration and financial management activities, including but not limited submitting quarterly reports, SF-270s, compiling evaluations, measuring work performance, and reconciling the project s budget. She, with the Project Co- Director, will participate in RMA conference calls, and will be responsible for the performance, completion, and measurement of work as described in this proposal. Consultant Fees: ABC consultant fees were negotiated as follows: Members submitted an hourly rate based on their assigned position title in the proposal as well their level of experience, education, and skill for the specific work assigned. The hourly rate was accepted if the submitted hourly rate corresponded to the same or highly similar job title hourly rate established by the Bureau of Labor Statistics The accepted hourly rate was multiplied by the number of hours devoted to the project to determine project salary. Project Director/Educator: Consultant Fee: $29, (Accepted Hourly Rate of $96.15 * 306 project hours = $29,421.90) Project Director will provide 306 hours to this project, and will be responsible for delivering education and materials to producers, including direct training through presentations and through individual one-on-one training session. As Project Director, approve educational and promotional materials before submission to RMA for approval to use in the public domain. He will participate in quarterly RMA conference calls and will be responsible for the performance, completion, and measurement of work as described in this proposal.
2 Financial Management Educator: Consultant Fee= $4, (Accepted Hourly Rate of $28.85 * 140 project hours = $4,039.00) David Smith will serve as a Financial Management Specialist on this project and will 140 hours to this project. Mr. Smith will also prepare and present presentations and materials on financial management and tax preparation for Specialty Crops producers. Risk Management Specialist: Consultant Fee: $2, (Accepted Hourly Rate of * 80 = $2,308.00) E. Ray Allen will serve as a Risk Management Specialist on this project and will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and recommending approval on all educational materials before submission to RMA for approval. He will also assist the Co-Project Director to present education at the larger conferences and manage conference information booths. 6c. The website can also serve as a resource for Specialty Crop producers and as an education tool for Ag professionals and University extension members working with Specialty Crop producers. Our research indicates that the cost for this contractual work should not exceed $2, Worker Central ($8,000.00) ABC Co. will contract with Worker Central to use its proprietary software Farming is Risky Business along with the education services provided by Jane Doe who will use the software in the 4 training sessions. The software is an interactive game that provides hands on risk management decisions and solutions in a gaming format. Specific crop insurance scenarios will be used. The game will be used with 500 new and beginning farmers education (see Proposal Narrative 200 new and beginning producers will be reached through 12 Meetings") 6h.
