3 Your itinerary Day 1: Arrive Windhoek Transfer, evening in Windhoek (Overnight Windhoek) Day 8: Etosha NP Windhoek We wake up at dawn to a truly memorable African sun rise experience and game drive before heading back to Windhoek (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Windhoek) Day 2: Sesriem Early morning trek up one of the world s highest sand dunes, Dune 45. We then continue on to Swakopmund and take in some incredible African vistsas en-route. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Swakopmund) Day 6: Twyelfonten We go back in time 260 million years, as we visit the Petrified Forest, fossilised for ever more in Sandstone. From here we venture north into Damaraland to overnight in the world renowned Etosha National Park. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Etosha) Day 9: Windhoek Depending on your return flight schedule, you can either depart today or we will take in the unique sights of Windhoek, the capital city, with a Walking tour of Windhoek city centre. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Windhoek) Day 3 & 4: Swakopmund There is plenty to do in this old German colonial city, including such activities as deep sea fishing, dune boarding or just general exploration. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Swakopmund) Day 7: Etosha National Park Today we have a full day of close up game viewing from either our high sided expedition truck or from hides overlooking nearby water holes. We should be able to see elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, cheetah and many more.. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Etosha) Day 5: Skeleton Coast The Skeleton Coast is so named because of this rugged coastline and the many ship wrecks that are dotted along it s entire length. We visit Cape Cross Seal Colony & nearby San Tribe paintings dating back 5000 years to make up an exciting day of exploration. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight Skeleton Coast) Day 10: Depart The tour will end with your drop off at the airport. (Breakfast)

4 Your itinerary Before you go Visas & permits Visas are not required for British, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, US and other EU nationals for a stay of up to 6 months. Please ensure your passport is valid for six months from date of entry and that you have at least three empty pages in your passport. All other nationalities should contact their Namibian embassy for details. Visas are your responsibility so please don t forget to check! Vaccinations It is recommended that you be vaccinated for Tetanus and Polio, if you haven t had a booster in the last ten years. Food and waterborne diseases are more common, so we recommend vaccinations for typhoid (valid 3 years) and Hepatitis A (validity varies). Namibia has low and high risk malaria areas, you may require anti malarials depending on your itinerary, but please consult a physician or travel clinic for further information. Travel insurance All our passengers must be fully insured for travel to Namibia. It is essential that you get the correct level of cover. Please ensure that the policy provides adequate cover for hospital treatment, repatriation flights home in the event of you being too ill to continue the trek, personal accident, personal baggage and associated valuables. You must bring the policy with you as it is obligatory for joining any expedition. Packing Luggage Pack all your gear in a rucksack/ backpack for this type of trip. Also bring a daypack, to keep personal items such as your wallet, camera and water bottle. Your rucksack/ backpack must not have an exterior frame. Only the soft, flexible variety is permitted. Leave your suitcase at home, they re simply not practical. Don t overdo it! Luggage is limited to 20kgs. We will supply a full kit checklist on booking to aid your preparation. In Namibia Currency: Namibia Dollar GBP 1.00 = NAD USD$1.00 = NAD EUR1.00 = NAD NAD Namibia Dollar rates are subject to fluctuation. Exchange facilities are available at various bureau de changes in major towns and most banks have ATMs. How much spending money is needed, depends largely on the individual. We currently recommend an average of USD $20 - $30 per day. We can t specify every sundry cost however and you ll need to allow for expenses such as drinks, snacks and the odd souvenir. Travellers Cheques can be difficult to change en route so we recommend you have cash for convenience and bring a card to use in the ATM s most accept Visa, MasterCard, Electron, Cirrus and Maestro. There are ATM s at the airport, which you can use upon arrival. Local prices Mineral water (local brand, 500ml or 1L) Chocolate bar (local brand) Climate With 300 days of sunshine on average per year, Namibia is truly a sunny place. Summer is from October to April and temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius (104º Fahernheit) which fall at night to cool levels. Average monthly temperatures range from 20 º C to 34º C in summer. Average minimum winter temperatures range between 6 C and 10 C and and average winter day temperatures between 18 C and 22 C. The average annual rainfall varies from less than 50mm along the coast to 350mm in the central interior and 700mm in the Caprivi. The rainy season is from October till April. Responsible travel Cultural awareness We cannot emphasise enough that we are travellers and therefore guests. Although we ourselves might have different views, ideas, rules and morals, it is our duty to respect and adjust where possible to the people of the region we are visiting. Never throw pens / sweets out of the vehicle. It is very patronising! Your Tour Leader will also brief you on environmental matters. Religious Awareness In 2007 the three churches established the United Church Council of the Lutheran Churches in Namibia, with the ultimate aim to become one church. The secondlargest Christian denomination is Roman Catholicism. Nomadic School Tours Association Nomadic School Tours work with and donate to the Ait Ouham Association for Development, which is a grass roots organisation that tackles local issues such as lack of education and and poor infrastructure in the Atlas mountain area of Morocco. It especially concentrates on the education and creating opportunities for girls in the Valley to further their education.
