2 Great Outdoors Challenge with Buddy Bison! The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) and Peterson Air Force Base have partnered with the National Park Trust to bring the Great Outdoors Challenge with Buddy Bison to our community. The National Park Trust, established in 1983, is a 501 (3) non-profit organization s mission is Preserving Parks Today; Creating Park Stewards for Tomorrow. Buddy Bison is their lovable woolly mascot who encourages children to explore the outdoors, the parks are yours!. Let s go see parks, forests, lakes, and rivers, Mountain and canyons that give me the shivers. We ll travel by foot, train, bike, plane or car. Our stories we ll share with those near and far. Let s plan a trip! We ll look at a map, Visit some neat places, then photos we ll snap. Posting phones online- a definite must To share with the folks at National Park Trust. Thanks for bringing me into your home. But now I m restless- it s time to roam! #BuddyBison inspires kids to discover, explore, and preserve our parks. Share your park adventures child and youth programs NO FEDERAL ENDORSEMENT INTENDED. USAF ACADEMY & PETERSON AFB Passport replacements can be picked up at Outdoor Rec and CYP. Proof of completed activities is necessary to reclaim stamps/points.
3 How to participate Buddy Bison Bingo There are three Bingo sheets for children ages 5 and under, 6-11, and 12+. Please select the appropriate Bingo sheet for your age. One Bingo sheet per child. Complete the activities listed Once five tasks in a row (up, down, across, diagonally) have been completed, a Bingo! pattern is completed. To complete a task, take a photo of yourself doing the activity with your Buddy Bison Passport booklet cover. Afterwards, take your photo to one of the Official Buddy Stop Locations on this page to receive a stamp at your convenience. Once a bingo is complete, stop by Outdoor Recreation to receive your prize. Photos can be shared using the hashtag #USAFA Buddy Bison or #Peterson Buddy Bison. Prizes are awarded for the following numbers of Bingos: 1, 3, 6, 9, 12. Prizes are in the box to the right: *Participants may claim their prizes at Outdoor Recreation until Fri., Oct 5. 1 Bingos = Silicone band 3 Bingos = Drawstring bag 6 Bingos = Water bottle 9 Bingos = Stuffed animal 12 Bingo = Book: Get outside guide Buddy Bison Passport The Buddy Bison Passport contains 25 locations throughout Colorado. Visit the locations listed and take a photo of yourself with your Buddy Bison Passport booklet to earn participation points. Participation points earn prizes. 6 points = Sunglasses 12 points = Lanyard 16 points = Fanny pack 20 points = Book-National Parks Guide Once a set amount of participation points are obtained, stop by Outdoor Recreation, at your convenience, to claim your prize. 14 Passes* Walk-In Pass: $3 per day Daily Parks Pass: $7-9 per vehicle Annual Parks Pass: $70 per vehicle. The pass is good through the last day of the month, one year from purchase. Annual passes can be purchased online. Centennial Pass: $14 (Limited-Income CO Residents) Income documents required. Military Pass: FREE admission to all state parks for the month of August. Active duty and veterans are admitted free to Colorado state parks for the month of August. Park passes can be purchased at all state parks and Colorado Parks and Wildlife Offices. cpw.state.co.us/documents/buyapply/park-passes.pdf National Parks Passes* The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Series A pass is your ticket to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites. Each pass covers entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges as well as standard amenity fees (day use fees) at national forests and grasslands, and at lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A pass covers entrance, standard amenity fees and day use fees for a driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle at per vehicle fee areas (or up to four adults at sites that charge per person). Children age 15 or under are admitted free. Annual Pass: Cost $80 US Military: Free Annual Pass Current US military members and their dependents in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, as well as most members of the US Reserves and National Guard are eligible. Proper military ID is required (CAC Card or DoD Form 1173). Free admission at sites that charge entrance or standard amenity fees for one full year from the month obtained (through last day of that month). Allows pass owner and accompanying passengers in a single, private, noncommercial vehicle to enter federally operated recreation sites across the country. Covers the pass owner and three (3) accompanying adults age 16 and older at sites where per person entrance fees are charged. No entry fee charged for children 15 and under.
