3 Registration & Hotel Information The stunningly beautiful and majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains in California will be the backdrop for the DCA Mid Year Meeting. Tenaya Lodge, which sits on edge of Yosemite National Park will serve as the basecamp. Yosemite is internationally recognized for its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, lakes and mountains. The Park was designated a World Heritage Site in REGISTRATION FEES Member couple: $1800 Age 21+: $900 Age 11-20: $300 Age 0-10: No charge REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS JUNE 21, 2018 The registration fee after this date is $2000 per couple. DCA MID YEAR MEETING REGISTRATION IS ONLINE Go to and click Register Now in the registration box on the home page. Follow the online instructions to complete your registration. HOTEL RESERVATIONS & RATES ROOM TYPE RATES Single/ Double Premium Category $ Lower Cottage $ Upper Cottage $ Room rates are valid for single/double occupancy. No additional charge for children under 18 staying in same room as an adult. Each additional adult will incur a $15 per night charge. Room rates are exclusive of 10% tax and 1% county tourism assessment. Resort Fee: A fee of $20 per room per day will be added to the guest s room account. All reservations require a credit card guarantee of one night s deposit. Deposits will be refunded for rooms cancelled more than 7 days prior to arrival. 4 SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Yosemite Sam Welcome Reception & Dinner Tenaya Lodge Wednesday, July 18 Yosemite Sam and his rag tag gang will welcome you to Tenaya Lodge nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The evening will be filled with family fun and laughter along with some good eats! Group Breakfast Thursday, July 19 8:00 am All those registered for the Mid Year Meeting are invited to this very special breakfast. The rhythms of nature resonate deeply. Drumming has been used for centuries to communicate and build community. It transcends barriers imposed by culture, language, status. Drum Cafe leverages the stunning power of rhythm to engage people quickly and build bonds. Reception Dinner At Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad Thursday, July 19 Ride into history where powerful locomotives once hauled massive log trains through the sierra mountains. Mighty lumberjacks felled the timber and flumes carried lumber to the distant valley below. The Sierra National Forest s majestic woods provide the backdrop for this evening dinner and journey back in time. Red, White & Boots Closing Reception & Dinner Tenaya Lodge Friday, July 20 This evening we will kick up our heels for a Red, White and Boot Scooting closing dinner. Whether you do the two step or line dance, this will be a fun evening to say good bye to one another and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

5 Optional Activities Yosemite National Park is famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, the iconic vista of towering The Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome. The hikes and walks are designed to give you a sample of some of Yosemite s most popular sites. July is peak season in Yosemite National Park. Distances can be vast and mountain roads can be winding and slow. This can make travel times to venues or trail heads up to an hour based on traffic issues and location of the activity. Each person on an afternoon activity will be provided with a boxed lunch. There is much to see and do in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Yosemite National Park. If you want to explore on your own, there are several websites noted on page 9 to assist you with other options. Sentinel Dome Hike 12:15 pm 5:30 pm Locals consider this to be the best viewpoint in Yosemite. From the top of Sentinel Dome s 8,122 foot elevation, approximately 80 percent of Yosemite can be seen in a 360-degree panorama. It is the easiest way to experience miles and miles of views in whatever direction you care to turn. Looking west, you will see down Yosemite Valley and beyond to the Merced River canyon. To the north you will see Yosemite Valley, including El Capitan and Yosemite Falls. To the east, you'll see Nevada Falls, Half Dome and Clouds Rest. Transfer Time: 50 minutes Hike Length: 1.5 miles round trip Hiking Time: 2 hours Level: Easy with a very short moderate section near the top of the Dome. Sentinel Dome and Taft Point Hike 12:15 pm 5:30 pm This hike will include both the Sentinel Dome as described above and continue on to Taft Point. Taft Point offers dramatic exposure and one of the best vistas over the western Yosemite Valley. Test your fear of heights as you near Taft Point s precipice or by peering through the fissures, which are deep, narrow gashes that extend down through the granite edge and provide a direct view to the floor over a thousand feet below. 6 Vernal Falls Hike 12:15 pm 6:00 pm Vernal Falls is 317 ft. tall and is among the most powerful waterfalls in Yosemite. Unlike Yosemite Fall and others, Vernal cannot be viewed from the valley floor. To see it, you must get on the trail. From the trailhead, hike to Vernal Falls footbridge (about 1 mile) and continue to the top of the waterfall. You will then have a great option to wander through the mist of this very powerful waterfall. Transfer Time: 1 hour 20 minutes Hike Length: 3 miles round trip Hiking Time: 3 hours Level: Difficult Steep incline to reach top of the Falls Price: $ per person ATV Excursion 12:15 pm 5:00 pm Ride into the wilderness on an ATV through the Sierras. With a knowledgeable guide, you get a chance to see some of California s most incredible scenery as you venture into the Sierra National Forest. Sights to be seen in the forest are waterfalls, mountains views and breathtaking vistas. Roads are either dry dirt and dusty when there is no rain or muddy from rain. Either way you will get dirty and possibly wet, so dress appropriately. Transfer time: 20 minutes Age Limit: 10 years old and up Price: $ per person

7 Sierra Jeep Excursion 12:15 pm 5:00 pm Go off-roading on a private jeep outing with your driverguide. The route takes you through forest dirt roads that turns to rocky terrain as you ascend and descend the mountainside. You will see some of California s most incredible scenery as you venture into the Sierra National Forest including waterfalls, mountains views and breathtaking vistas. Roads are either dry dirt and dusty when there is no rain or muddy from rain. Either way you will get dirty and possibly wet, so dress appropriately. Transfer time: 20 minutes Price: $ per person Yosemite Highlights via Glacier Point 12:30 pm 5:30 pm This scenic drive, including short walks, offers you the opportunity to view some of the most iconic sites of the Yosemite National Park. Standing at 3,214 feet above the valley floor, Glacier Point has a commanding view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and the High Sierra. It is an ideal tour to familiarize and enlighten you about the Native American history, glaciers, flora and fauna, animals, and geology. Level: Easy. Most of the tour is by motor coach with frequent stops and short walks to view points. Price: $ per person

8 Giant Sequoias Walking Tour at Mariposa Grove* 12:30 pm 5:30 pm Explore the Giant Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove, the largest and most spectacular grove in the park. The Giant Sequoias are one of the largest living things on earth. Learn about these magnificent trees found in only a small area of the Sierra Nevada. You will learn about the lifecycle of these extraordinary trees, and how the destruction of many Giant Sequoia groves led to some of the earliest land preservation efforts. Transfer time: 20 minutes Walk length: 2 miles Level: Easy Price: $ per person Watercolors in the Wilderness Thursday ONLY 12:30 pm 5:30 pm Take this opportunity to capture the beauty of the summer landscape of Yosemite in water color. Paint next to the South Fork of the Merced River and use the covered bridge as one of the focal points. At the end of a fun and relaxing afternoon, celebrate your artistic accomplishments and take your artwork home as a special souvenir of your time in the park. No experience needed and all supplies provided. Transfer time: 20 minutes Price: $ per person *The Mariposa Grove of the Giant Sequoias is currently closed. It is scheduled to open on June 15, If the grove is accessible, we will take you there. If it is not, an alternative location may be offered.

9 Yosemite AREA ACTIVITIES Ansel Adams Yosemite Photo Session Friday ONLY 12:15 pm 6:00 pm Photographer Ansel Adams immortalized Yosemite National Park through his classic black & white images. His images pushed the popularity of landscape photography while helping to motivate the American environmental movement. You will visit many locations from where Ansel composed some of his most famous images. At each location, you will have the opportunity to see the same image through your lens and work more in-depth with the scene around you. 10 Hotel & Airport Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite 1122 Hwy 41 Fish Camp, CA Attire The attire for the entire Mid Year Meeting is casual. Clothing and footwear should be appropriate for the temperature, chance of light showers and activities. The closest airport is Fresno Airport (FAT). The lodge is located 63 miles north of the Fresno airport. Time & Weather End of July: Sunrise 5:51 am Sunset 8:18 pm Car rental is suggested, however ground transfers are available. YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) is public transit in the Yosemite region, with buses entering Yosemite Valley from Fresno Airport ( Temperature: Daytime temperatures in the low 80 s and evening temperatures fall to the mid 50 s Altitude is 5288 ft.
