1 Registration Packet This event will provide an opportunity for you to gather, network, learn and play in Sitka! May 18-20, 2017 Sitka, Alaska
2 COME TO SITKA! Please plan to join us in Sitka for the s 43rd Annual Conference on May 18 20, Sitka offers a beautiful backdrop for our meetings and offers great outdoor activities, too. Come early and visit the Alaska Raptor Center, hike Mt. Edgecumbe or plan a round of golf at the Sea Mountain Golf Course. There is fishing, whale watching and sea kayaking, too. Adventure abounds in Sitka! Participants The conference will feature two full days of sessions with great speakers. The conference sessions will be hosted at Harrigan Centennial Hall. We have planned our banquet activities on Friday and Saturday to provide you the opportunity to take in some of Sitka s unique scenery. Please reference the Registration Form on page six to sign up your attendees and guests. Vendors We look forward to you joining us and have twelve booths set aside for you to reserve. Please reference the Vendor Registration Form on page seven of the packet. The booth fee is $750 (which includes the $650 registration fee for one participant). Additional participants and your spouse/guest are welcome to attend and can be registered utilizing the Vendor Registration Form (additional participant fees apply). Sponsorship Opportunities Get Noticed! In order to put on a great conference we ll need to acquire sponsors to help us offset the cost of the events. Sponsorship opportunities include banquets, meals, the hospitality suite and snacks each day. Take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your brand and help us put on a great event! Sincerely, Lauren MacVay, President Major Sponsor: Page 2
3 MAP, TIPS & QUESTIONS Many of our Sitka citizens are very passionate about local events and festivals that they volunteer for. Sitka s volunteers are invaluable to the Sitka way of life. Sitka is a bicyle friendly and walkable town! There s a great tarred walking path, that begins at the corner of Jeff Davis Street and Sawmill Creek Road, that meanders along the edge of the road all the way out to Whale Park. Many of Sitka s hiking trails are used frequently by the local community to enjoy Sitka s scenery and for exercise. Though Sitka is located in a rainforest, you ll see that weather doesn t stop these hearty souls to get outside to enjoy Sitka s views and nature whether they bike or walk! Where can I get information on other cities in the Inside Passage? Visit What will the weather be like when I arrive in Sitka? Sitka s weather is extremely unpredictable. Because Sitka is located in the Tongass National Forest, a temperate rain forest, and due to a maritime climate, we suggest layering your clothing and a bringing a raincoat (with a hood). Will my cell phone work in Sitka? It may be wise to check with your cell phone provider to see if you have coverage in Sitka. There are places that cell phones may not work at all. Where can I store my luggage? Harrigan Centennial Hall, located at 303 Harbor Drive, can hold your luggage temporarily. They will not be held responsible for items, but please be sure to check what time the building closes so you can remove your luggage promptly. Is there public transportaton available to Sitka s main attractions? Yes, Sitka Tribal Tours offers a summer Visitors Shuttle. Explore Sitka at your leisure with an On/Off day pass, valid until final tender. With driver commentary bus stops at Sitka s top visitor attractions including: Totem Park (SNHP), Alaska Raptor Center, Sheldon Jackson Museum, St. Michael s Orthodox Church, Russian Bishop s House, Tlingit Clan House, SSSC Aquarium/Hatchery and passes many more scenic and historic sites. Get on and off as many times as you want to explore. For scheduling information please contact them directly on (907) Annual Conference and Meeting Sitka, Alaska Page 3
4 THINGS TO DO IN SITKA MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE... CLOSER THAN YOU THINK! Some very special places on earth seem to be forged for the curious and adventurous souls who demand diversity and grandeur in their travels. For those who venture for out-of-the-ordinary, majestic and lush places, Sitka proudly beckons. For the seekers of treasures, natural, cultural and historical, Sitka is that treasure Island. Visitors will always find the bounty they are looking for, which is inseparable from the people. It is Sitka s citizens who will make you feel at home, who will appease your curiosity, and give you cause to remember your journey to a real treasture island. Visit for more details. Alaska Raptor Center The Alaska Raptor Center offers close-up encounters with bald eagles and other birds of prey. The center provides medical rehabilitation to injured or sick birds of prey, including bald eagles. Every effort is made to return these majestic creatures back into the wild; however, some never recover fully and remain housed at the center as part of its educational program. Saltwater Fishing Sitka is an angler s paradise! Our proximity to the open ocean provides a steady supply of fish, yet the island and bays create sheltered waters and ideal fishing conditions. Sitka boasts the highest saltwater sport fishing catch rate for King Salmon in the State. Book a fishing charter and join an experienced captain on an Alaskan fishing adventure of a lifetime. Salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish can all be caught on the same day, from the same boat. A list of charter operators for fishing Sitka s exciting, pristine waters can be found by visiting our website at org/play/saltwater-fishing/ Hike Mt. Edgecumbe Hike this beautiful, Mt. Fuji look-a-like dormant volcano in a day. A rugged hiking trail is available and detailed information can be found through the U.S. Forest Service. Stay a little longer and explore the wonders of Kruzof Island. Fred s Creek Forest Service Cabin is a great home-base but plan in advance if you d like to stay here. Cabin reservations are made through recreation.gov and for water taxi service please click on the photo of the volcano. More details can be found at: tongass/sitkard Page 4 Sea Mountain Golf Course Located a short drive from downtown, Sea Mountain Golf Course & Driving Range overlooks Sitka Sound and Mt. Edgecumbe, with Harbor Mountain towering in the background. Stunning views from one of Southeast s finest mountain-carved courses. Chance to occasionally view wildlife. Check out our Facebook page at SeaMountainGolf/
