3 5) Meals If you lodge at the Tin Wis Resort: Conference Registrants who lodge at the Tin-Wis Resort enroll in the ALL- INCLUSIVE PACKAGE. The package includes 4-nights of lodging, all the meals and gratuities noted below, plus hotel taxes. There are no discounts for partial stays. If you lodge OFF- SITE There are other lodging options within easy walking distance of the Tin-Wis Resort. For details, refer to the Travel and Lodging Resource Guide. Conference attendees who lodge off-site pay a $295 Commuter Fee to cover all the meals noted below. Single meal tickets are not an option for conference attendees, however, family or guests who are not attending the conference may purchase single meal tickets. 5 7) Transportation from Vancouver to Tofino Please refer to transportation options in the Travel and Lodging Resource Guide. We strongly advise that you make arrangements for travel from Vancouver to Tofino in advance of your arrival. Ground and ferry transport takes the better part of a day, and must be scheduled around the ferry. IFIP will offer a charter bus/ferry service for $75 each way, based upon advance reservations (see below.) Air travel is available from Vancouver to Tofino, via Orca Air with one scheduled flight daily. If there is sufficient interest from IFIP conference attendees to have a flight at a different time, IFIP will charter a flight. Either way, the cost will be about $200 per person, each way. Check here to RESERVE IFIP s CHARTER bus/ferry service $75 fee per person, each way ($150 round trip) includes: Transport from Vancouver (downtown or airport) to Tofino; ferry fee; and tour-guide/cultural interpreter. Return trip will not include the tour-guide. Fee: $40. Hot Springs Explorer May 18-6 ½ to 7 hours (Starts at 1pm) This tour combines hot springs and whale watching, (sea conditions permitting) with other wildlife viewing opportunities such as black bear. We travel 20 miles north in Clayoquot Sound to a series of thermal rock pools. While on shore, you hike through the rainforest along a boardwalk trail and later soak in natural hot springs overlooking the ocean. Afterwards, we head out to sea in search of whales and other marine life. Boat has a covered cabin. Warm clothing is still required for boat trip. Bring bathing suit, towel, lunch, water/drinks, sandals to wear in water. Fee: $130.

6 Meares Island Tour May 18 5 hours (Starts at 1pm) Big Tree Trail & Tribal Park Join Joe Martin, member of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, from the house of Sheewish. A Master Canoe Carver and experienced man of the sea, Joe will provide a history of the declaration of the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Park with this excursion to Meares Island and the Big Tree Trail. Joe has spent his life fishing, driving boats, and carving traditional dugout canoes, a skill learned from his father. His expertise on the water and in ocean going canoes is unparalleled, his storytelling engaging, and his knowledge of the area detailed. Joe has travelled all over the world to speak about Nuu-chah-nulth culture and was recently in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympic Games at the Tofino exhibit with one of his canoes. Open boat: wear warm clothing with rain protection. Bring snack, water/drinks. Fee: $ Day Trip to Coastal Communities Travel along the proposed tanker route for the Enbridge Gateway Project: Tour/Boat/Hike w/ The Headwaters Initiative, a project of Tides Canada Initiatives. Visit the area targeted by Canada's largest oil and gas pipeline company for transport of 550,000 barrels a day of Tar Sands crude to Kitimat.
