GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Adjective Order (5-6 minutes) In English, there are eight basic types of adjectives: opinion, size, age, shape, color, origin, material, and purpose. When we use two or more of these adjectives in a sentence at the same time, we have to follow a certain order. This means that one type of adjective always comes first before another. The right adjective order is as follows: opinion size age shape color origin material purpose Examples: The big (size), rectangular (shape), brown (color) table is an indigenous craft from Africa. Rome is a magnificent (opinion), huge (size), and old (age) city of Europe. Our tall (size) Filipino(origin) tour guide is looking for the other tourists. If I were to go on a vacation, I would like to go to a safe (opinion), small (size), Asian (origin) city. Remember: We use commas to separate the multiple adjectives that we use in a sentence. Sometimes, if there are more than two adjectives, we also use the coordinating conjunction and before the last adjective in the series except when such denotes origin. 4

For tourism to grow in a country, the government has to make sure that its travel destinations are safe, accessible and budget-friendly.
