The latest one is the world's largest building. It is called the New Century Global Center. It opened this week in Chengdu, Sichuan province. It is 500 meters long, 400 meters wide and 100 meters high. The area inside is 1.76 million square meters. The building is so big that 20 Sydney Opera Houses can go inside. It is almost three times the size of the Pentagon. Thousands of workers built the huge building in three years. The center is part of an important plan to make Chengdu a 21st-century city. The inside of the center is almost like a small city. There are around 400,000 square meters of shopping space, a 15-screen movie theater and an ice rink. There are also offices, hotels, a Mediterranean village and a water park. The building's owners hope it will bring business and tourists from across the world. It is part of Chengdu's plan to be world famous. Around 14 million people live in the city, but that will increase. The city is one of China's most important areas for business. The previous record of 5.9 million was set in Over a million more people visited the museum last year than in The biggest attractions were two big exhibitions. One was Life and Death in Pompeii, the other was Herculaneum. The director of the museum said he was very happy that so many people came. He told reporters that many things happened last year. Many exhibits were loaned to the museum. He also said online access meant more people decided to visit. He added: "This is truly a dynamic collection that belongs to and is used by a global citizenship." The British Museum has many exhibitions about human history and culture. It has about 13 million exhibits from all over the world. Some countries want the museum to return some of them. Greece wants the Elgin Marbles back. They were originally from the Parthenon in Athens. China wants the museum to return many things the British took from China in the 19th century, and Egypt wants the Rosetta Stone.
