2014 Construction Season Highlights for District 8 2014 Ohio Construction Fast Facts ODOT s 2014 construction program includes 936 different projects throughout the state, totaling $2.5 billion. $1.5 billion in roadway resurfacing projects. 84 interstate safety upgrades 30 bridges repaired or replaced as part of the new County Bridge Program worth $14 million. By unlocking the revenue potential of our Ohio Turnpike asset, the Ohio Jobs and Transportation Plan is funding multiple phases of five projects that will begin or continue this year, including: Construction of Cleveland s eastbound George V. Voinovich Bridge Interstate 75 highway reconstruction through Wood and Hancock counties Reconstruction of State Route 57 in Lorain County Widening of Interstate 271 in Summit County Construction of Cleveland s Opportunity Corridor Other large projects beginning or continuing this year include: Construction of a new interchange at Interstate 71 and Martin Luther King Blvd. in Cincinnati s Uptown area Modernization of Interstate 75 through Dayton Reconstruction of the interchange at U.S. Route 23 and Interstate 270 in northern Franklin County Project Description Hamilton County I-75/Hopple Street Interchange Improvement Reconstruction and improvement of the I-75/Hopple Street Interchange. Four lanes of traffic to be maintained in each direction. End June 2016 Project Description Clermont County I-275/SR 32 Interchange Improvement Reconstruction of I-275/SR 32 interchange to add capacity and eliminate access point conflicts to improve safety and traffic flow on SR 32 and the I-275/SR 32 and Eastgate Blvd. interchanges. Project Description I-71 Jeremiah Morrow Bridge Replacement Replacement of the two Jeremiah Morrow spans over the Little Miami River. First span opened to northbound I-71 traffic November 2013. Work is proceeding on construction of second span. End May 2016 Project Waldvogel Viaduct and Sixth Street Expressway Improvement Description Removal of Waldvogel Memorial Viaduct, including four ramps to Elberon and Warsaw avenues. Replacement of structures for the four ramps to Elberon and Warsaw and replacement of structures for the connection to the Sixth Street Expressway. Removal and replacement of roadways for the required portions of River Road, Elberon Avenue, Warsaw Avenue, State Avenue, Evans Street and Maryland Avenue. One lane of U.S. 50 traffic maintained in each direction. Construction Cost $54.9 million County Hamilton PID 20082 Start July 2011 Est. End May 2015 Project Description Hamilton County I-71 at Martin Luther King Drive Provide a full movement interchange at I-71 and Martin Luther King Drive while maintaining existing connections to William Howard Taft and McMillan roads.
