PAGE 3 Parks Maintenance This week, Leisure Services Parks Maintenance staff installed several emergency signs throughout local parks which lists the park s correct address to give emergency responders when calling 911, should the need arise. Those who use our parks may not be familiar with the correct address and this should provide assistance in case of an emergency. New swing seats were also installed at some of the swing sets at the Nova Community Park. Rental kiosks were also installed at several of the parks. Rental agreements are inserted into the kiosks so park users will know if an area of the park is rented for the day. A gate was also repaired at Sanchez Park. These are just a few of the projects our Parks Maintenance staff has been working on in order to keep our City parks safe for our citizens. Time to Pack It Up The City of Ormond Beach offers a large number of holiday programs and a spectacular display of colorful decorations that help bring the magic of the holidays all over the City. The Leisure Services staff spends many hours preparing for the holidays, as many of us do in our home, but on a much larger scale. Now comes the time to take it all down. Over the past week, staff has been gathering the decorations, cleaning them and packing them safely for storage until next year.
PAGE 4 SONC is Ready for 2014 It s been a wonderful couple of weeks at the South Ormond Neighborhood Center. The kids enjoyed their break from school and the nice weather we had during the holidays. The field was open for residents to use. The Center s Activity Room got a new tile floor in December. The grounds also got some much needed attention. While there was a slight break in the action, staff worked on some winter cleaning and repair projects. This week basketball is back in the spotlight. League play resumed on Monday and will be the main event through the middle of February. We are looking forward to a very exciting and promising 2014 basketball season for all our players!
