Attire. What is the dress code on the Spirit of Norfolk? For evening cruises, appropriate attire is business casual to dressy. Men traditionally wear slacks and sport coats, with or without ties. Women wear dresses or nice pants. We do not recommend T-shirts, jeans, shorts or sneakers in the evening. Afternoon cruises are generally more relaxed, and casual attire is fine. Boarding. What is "Boarding Time" and "Cruising Time?" "Boarding Time" is the earliest guests may board the ship. Typically boarding begins 1/2 hour prior to the "Cruise Time." Tickets may be picked up at the dockside kiosk up-to one hour prior to the cruise. Children. Are there any age requirements? Children are welcome on almost all cruises. Coast Guard Regulations. Is the vessel Coast Guard certified? Yes. The ship is Coast Guard certified and maintained regularly to adhere to strict safety regulations. Cruise Route. Where does the ship go? The ship departs from Otter Berth at Town Point Park next to The Waterside Mall. While sailing routes may vary, the Spirit of Norfolk generally cruises the Elizabeth River and Hampton Roads Harbor past the Norfolk skyline and the Norfolk Naval Base where you can see the mighty ships and aircraft carriers of the Atlantic Fleet when they are in port. Dancing. What kind of dance music is played? Lunch and dinner cruises feature a full range of popular dance tunes spun by some of the city s hottest DJs. Selections may include Rock, Blues, Line Dances, Motown, Oldies, Salsa, Hip Hop, Country, and current chart-toppers from every musical genre. Directions. How do I get to the ship? The Spirit of Norfolk departs from Otter Berth next to The Waterside Mall in Downtown Norfolk. Drinks. What do drinks cost? Mixed drinks start at $5.75 for standard brand liquors, $6.75 for premium drinks. All beer is sold by the bottle, with domestic beers for $4.50 and imported for $4.75. Wine begins at $5.00 per glass. Soft drinks are $2.20 each and juice is available for $2.50 each. These prices do not include tax and gratuity and are subject to change. Entertainment. What type of entertainment is offered? It begins with streamers and a Bon Voyage celebration at your table. Intermittent live song performances as well as subtle background music will accompany the dining portion of your cruise. After dessert, star-quality performers stage a live song-and-dance revue, followed by pulsing dance hits played by some of the city s hottest DJs. Gratuity. Is gratuity included in the ticket price? A service charge is included in the price and covers gratuity on the food portion of the ticket price. It does not include any gratuity for beverages purchased on the ship or for any outstanding personal service provided by your server. Groups. What size group can Spirit of Norfolk accommodate? Parking. Is there parking close to the ship? There is ample parking available across the street from the ship in the Waterside Garage. Be sure to enter Waterside Garage from Atlantic Street. Seasickness. Will I get seasick? It's unlikely. The Spirit of Norfolk is one of the largest and most stable cruise ships in Norfolk. Seating. How is seating arranged on board? Ships feature cabaret-style seating. The majority of tables accommodate four to eight people and guests are sometimes seated with other parties. Ship Information. Can you tell me a little about the ship? The Spirit of Norfolk offers a sleek and fresh approach to dining and dancing on the water. It is handicap accessible and Coast Guard approved for up to 450 passengers. Amenities include full service bars, two dance floors (or staging areas), flexible seating arrangements and large outdoor patio deck. Smoking. What is the smoking policy? All interior areas of the ship are non-smoking areas. Passengers who smoke may do so on the outdoor observation decks. Tickets. Where can I pick up the cruise tickets? Tickets can be conveniently picked up at the dock up to one hour prior to the cruise. Photo ID will be required. Weather. Does the ship sail in inclement weather? Absolutely. Take Woodhaven to I-95 South. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Columbus Boulevard. FROM DELAWARE: Take I-95 North. At the end of ramp, turn left onto Columbus Boulevard. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION Via SEPTA: Take Bus Route #25 to the Columbus Boulevard/Lombard Circle stop. The ship is located on Lombard Circle. Alternative Bus Routes that transport around the Penn s Landing Viaduct are Routes # 33, #21 & #42. Follow Columbus Boulevard South to Lombard Circle. Via Market Frankford El: Follow to 2nd and Market Street stop, about a 15-20 minute walk from our ship. Walk east on Market Street to Front Street (1/2 block).
