1 PRE FLIGHT TESTING This test assumes that EGPWS software -222-222 or later is installed, all advisories of RAAS are activated via the RAAS Configuration Database (RCD), the EGPWS has been RAAS-enabled (via Key Card), the RCD loaded into the EGPWS, the aircraft is located at a RAAS-enable airport, and RAAS is fully functional (EGPWS is receiving high quality GPS signals). 1.1 Safety and Other Considerations The following safety considerations should be reviewed by all flight test personnel prior to initiating this test. A thorough pre-flight briefing covering all maneuvers planned and familiarization with the geographic area to be used for the flight test must be completed. Clear each test procedure with ATC prior to conducting it. ATC commands and annunciations from on-board avionics systems must be followed during testing. 1.2 EGPWS/RAAS Self Test Prior to testing, verify that RAAS is operational by initiating a short Level 1 EGPWS self-test and observing the results. This test must pass prior to conducting flight testing. The following sequence of events indicates a proper RAAS self-test: 1. Activate the EGPWS Terrain Display on at least one of the cockpit displays 2. Initiate the EGPWS self test. 3. VERIFY the following audio/visual sequence is heard/seen: a) GLIDESLOPE voice is enunciated b) PULL UP voice is enunciated c) (SIREN) WINDSHEAR WINDSHEAR WINDSHEAR voice is enunciated (if Windshear Detection is activated for this installation) d) TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP voice is enunciated e) The Terrain Display Test Pattern appears for approximately 12 seconds. Two text messages will appear in the test pattern, TDBXXX (where XXX is the loaded Terrain Database version) and RCDYYYYY (where YYYYY is the last 5 digits of the loaded RAAS Configuration Database). VERIFY the last 5 digits of the loaded RCD match the RCD Software PN (998-33YY-YYY) printed on the label of the correct RCD card for this installation. f) RUNWAY AWARENESS OK - FEET (or METERS ) voice is enunciated. The voice gender of FEET/METERS will match the selected voice gender (Male or Female) of RAAS as specified in the RCD. 4. Change the display range (up or down) and VERIFY a green RAAS-OK-F (or RAAS- OK-M) text message is display on the terrain display for two sweep cycles. 2 RAAS ADJUSTABLE VOLUME DATA GATHERING The purpose of the following test is to determine the minimum acceptable volume levels for each advisory of the Runway Awareness Advisory System (RAAS). This is accomplished by temporarily modifying software variables (using a PC running WinVIEWS connected to the EGPWS) while repeatedly maneuvering the aircraft into each RAAS advisory envelope until the desired After the desired volume level is achieved, this procedure contains a table on the last page to record the appropriate setting. The test is also intended to demonstrate that the system does not produce nuisance alerts for normal aircraft operations. Each advisory is tested separately using aircraft maneuvering defined specifically for that advisory. The individual tests may be performed in any order, but they have been specifically written to reduce the flow time for each profile. This procedure was written in a generic nature and assumes English units of runway measurement (feet) have been selected. Examine the worksheet used to create the loaded RCD and complete the table below for reference. Note that the Approaching Runway - On Ground advisory and the On Runway advisory are not configurable, they are always active. Voice Units (feet/meters): Voice Gender (male/female): Distance Remaining Landing (off/on/limited to X000 feet) Distance Remaining RTO (off/on/limited to X000 feet) Runway End (off/on) Approaching Runway In Air (off/on) Taxiway Takeoff (off/on) Extended Holding Initial (off or time in seconds) Extended Holding Repeated (off or time in seconds) Insufficient Runway Takeoff (off/always on/on limited to XXXX feet) Approaching Short Runway In Air (off/always/on/limited to XXXX feet) Any advisories marked off above should not be tested in Paragraph 2 below. CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 5

2.1 Using WinVIEWS to modify RAAS Volume With WinVIEWS running in Terminal Mode, the volume of each RAAS advisory can be adjusted via the COC RACTL XXYY command, where XX is the volume in hex and YY is the code for the specific advisory. These changes will not persist through a power cycle. The EGPWS and RCD are not modified at all, so a fresh power up will restore the unit to the loaded configurations. The XX volume in hex is in db attenuation, so 00 would set no attenuation, and RAAS volume would be set to the maximum possible (even if the Aircraft Type defaults EGPWS Cautions/Warnings to Low Volume (-6 db). Preliminary testing has shown that most RAAS advisories will be set to -12 to -18 db (so XX would be 0C to 12 hex). The exception to this rule is the Taxiway Takeoff advisory. Due to its nature, leaving the volume set to the default (+3 db) is recommended. For reference, below is a table of hex codes to enter for a desired volume reduction. It is suggested to adjust the volume in 6 db increments, and make fine adjustment (up/down) in 3 db increments: Hex setting Resulting Volume Reduction 00 0 db (Maximum Volume) 03-3 db 06-6 db 09-9 db 0C -12 db 0F -15 db 12-18 db 15-21 db 18-24 db If desired, the voice gender can be changed during the test to determine appropriate levels for both the male and female advisory voices. To change the voice gender, type the following WinVIEWS command: To activate the male voice type COC RACTL 13 <enter> To activate the female voice, type COC RACTL 113 <enter> WinVIEWS will respond with the text message MRWYADV.CPP: Voice = Male (or Female) as appropriate as confirmation the change was accepted. CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 6

2.2 Approaching Runway - On Ground Conduct the test as follows: 1. Perform a taxi toward any runway maintaining a groundspeed below 20 knots. 2. As you near the runway, the voice advisory Approaching AA (where AA is the identifier of the nearest runway end) will be issued. 3. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX43 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. For example, to set the Approaching Runway - On Ground advisory 15 db below maximum, the command to type is COC RACTL 0F43 4. WinVIEWS will respond with a confirmation text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolONX = VolCHGX = XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). In the example above, MRWYADV.CPP: VolONX = VolCHGX = 15 would be the WinVIEWS response. 5. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired 6. Enter the Approaching Runway On Ground volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value (using the example above, 15 would be entered in the table, not 0F. 2.3 On Runway / Insufficient Runway - Takeoff NOTE You cannot specify different volume levels for the On Runway and Insufficient Runway advisory. Both advisories will occur at the same volume level. Conduct the test as follows: 1. Taxi to any runway. Obtain clearance to taxi onto runway simulating a departure. Line up with the runway (+/- 20 degrees) and STOP. 2. As you align with the runway, the voice advisory On Runway AA (where AA is the identifier of the runway) will be issued. Note that an Insufficient Runway - Takeoff advisory may also be heard. 3. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX42 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. For example, to set the On Runway and Insufficient Runway Takeoff advisory 12 db below maximum, the command to type is COC RACTL 0C42 4. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolONA = VolCHGA = XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). In the example above, MRWYADV.CPP: VolONA = VolCHGA = 12 would be the WinVIEWS response. 5. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 7

6. Enter the On Runway / Insufficient Runway - Takeoff volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value (using the example above, 12 would be entered in the table, not 0C. 2.4 Extended Holding on Runway Initial and Repeating NOTE You cannot specify different volume levels for the Extended Holding - Initial and Extended Holding - Repeated advisory. Both advisories will occur at the same volume level. NOTE - This test require the aircraft to be stationary on a runway for several minutes. Conduct the test as follows: 1. Taxi to any runway. Obtain ATC clearance to enter the runway and hold position aligned with that runway (+/- 20 degrees). 2. The aural advisory On Runway AA (where AA is the identifier of the runway) will be issued when the aircraft is lined up. Note that an Insufficient Runway - Takeoff advisory may also be heard. 3. The aircraft must remain stationary for length of time specified as Extended Holding Initial in Section 2 above. 4. After the specified time elapses, the voice advisory On Runway AA, On Runway AA will be issued. 5. As each subsequent length of time specified as Extended Holding Repeated in Section 2 elapses, the voice advisory On Runway AA, On Runway AA will be issued. 6. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX4A <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. 7. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolHLD = XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). 8. Hold in position on the runway as long as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired 9. Enter the Extended Holding Initial and Repeated volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value. 2.5 Distance Remaining Rejected Takeoff (RTO) This test requires that a take-off roll is initiated, and a Rejected Take-Off is conducted after the aircraft has exceeded 60 knots. The callout is armed after the aircraft has decreased groundspeed to 7 knots below the maximum attained speed. This test requires maintaining groundspeed over 40 knots until the aircraft has crossed within 1000 ft of the runway end. Ensure that the aircraft speed is depleted such that there is no threat of overshooting the runway end. The pilot-in-command may determine that safety requires slowing below 40 knots groundspeed at any point during this test due to conditions (braking action, runway surface contamination, slope, aircraft performance, etc). Clear with ATC prior to conducting procedure. CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 8

Conduct the test as follows: 1. Initiate a take-off on assigned runway. 2. Accelerate to 80 knots groundspeed. 3. Reject the takeoff and slow to 50-60 knots groundspeed. 4. Maintain 50-60 knots groundspeed until within 1000 feet (or 300 meters) of the runway end. 5. During rollout on the last half of the runway, aural advisories BBBB Remaining (where BBBB is 1000 foot or 300 meter increments) will be issued until groundspeed is less than 40 knots Note: an aural advisory for 500 Remaining (feet) or 100 Remaining (meters) may be heard if aircraft groundspeed exceeds 40 knots at that point on the runway. Note: the Runway End callout may be heard if aircraft rolls to within 100 ft (or 30 meters) of runway end. 6. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX31 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. 7. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolRTO = XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). 8. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired Note: pay close attention to brake temperatures if repeating this test soon after the initial test. Allow proper time for brake temperatures to reduce before repeating this test. 9. Enter the Distance Remaining - RTO volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value. 2.6 Runway End Conduct the test as follows: 1. After landing or rejected takeoff, continue on runway at a groundspeed below 20 knots until the aircraft is within 100 ft (or 30 meters) of the runway end. 2. The aural advisory One Hundred Remaining (or Thirty Remaining if using meters as the units of distance measurement) will be issued. 3. Depart runway via a taxiway. 4. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX32 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. 5. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolEnd = XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 9

6. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired 7. Enter the Runway End volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value. 2.7 Taxiway Take-Off Conduct the test as follows: 1. Begin a simulated take-off on any taxiway such that aircraft accelerates rapidly. Use of full take-off power is NOT required. Note: ensure the taxiway surface is suitable for groundspeeds of 40-60 knots. If it is not, it is advisable to use a runway surface in conjunction with a WinVIEWS overwrite of Latitude or Longitude, such that the EGPWS believes the aircraft is NOT on a runway. See Section 3 for more details. 2. The aircraft must exceed a groundspeed of 40 knots. 3. The aural advisory On Taxiway, On Taxiway will be issued. Slow aircraft to normal taxi speeds. 4. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX47 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. 5. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolONT =XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). 6. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired 7. Enter the Taxiway Takeoff volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value. 2.8 Approaching Runway (In Air) / Approaching Short Runway (In Air) NOTE You cannot specify different volume levels for the Approaching Runway (In Air) and Approaching Short Runway (In Air) advisory. Both advisories will occur at the same volume level. This test is conducted while airborne. Conduct the test as follows: 1. Set up for a standard VFR or ILS approach to any runway. Conduct the turn from downwind to base leg such that the aircraft is turned onto final approach and aligned with assigned runway at approximately 3 to 5 nm. 2. The aural advisory Approaching AA (where AA is the identifier of the runway) will be issued between 750 ft and 300 ft above the field elevation. Note that an Approaching Short Runway (In Air) advisory may also be heard. 3. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX46 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 10

4. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolAPP = XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). 5. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired 6. Enter the On Runway / Insufficient Runway-Takeoff volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value. 2.9 Distance Remaining - Landing This test requires maintaining groundspeeds over 40 knots until the aircraft has crossed within 1000 feet (or 300 meters) of the runway end. Ensure that the aircraft speed is depleted such that there is no threat of overshooting the runway end. The pilot-incommand may determine that safety requires slowing below 40 knots groundspeed at any point during this test due to conditions (braking action, runway surface contamination, slope, aircraft performance, etc.) Conduct the test as follows: 1. During a landing, ensure the auto brake function is not active and ensure that the aircraft is on the ground at the runway halfway point. Note: If the aircraft is not on the ground at the runway halfway point, the altitude callouts may supersede the distance remaining advisories. 2. Roll-out maintaining 50-60 knots groundspeed until within 1000 feet (or 300 meters) of the runway end. 3. During rollout on the last half of the runway, aural advisories BBBB Remaining (where BBBB is 1000 foot or 300 meter increments) will be issued until groundspeed is less than 40 knots Note: an aural advisory for 500 Remaining (feet) or 100 Remaining (meters) may be heard if aircraft groundspeed exceeds 40 knots at this point on the runway. Note: the Runway End callout may be heard if aircraft rolls to within 100 ft (or 30 meters) of runway end. 4. To modify the volume of this advisory, type the following WinVIEWS command: COC RACTL XX30 <enter> where XX is the desired volume from the table above. 5. WinVIEWS will respond with a text message MRWYADV.CPP: VolLnd =XX (where XX is the decimal db value of the volume reduction). 6. Repeat the test as necessary while changing the volume setting until the desired 7. Enter the Distance Remaining - Landing volume setting in the table on the last page. Be sure to enter the decimal value, not the hex value. END OF TEST CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4314-075 REV: - SHEET 11

3 Using a WinVIEWS offset during Taxiway Take-off Test If a suitable taxiway surface is not available to perform the 40+ knot simulated takeoff, it is acceptable to enter an offset latitude or longitude into the EGPWS via WinVIEWS such that the EGPWS believes it is not on a runway. For north/south runways, it is recommended to offset the Longitude value. For east/west runways, it is recommended to offset the Latitude value. The amount of offset need only be 0.01 degree. Ensure this offset does not place the aircraft on a parallel runway by consulting an airport diagram or chart. It is best to enter this offset while holding short of the runway, but after the Approach Runway advisory has been issued. To offset the Latitude, type the following command using WinVIEWS, COV TALatude XX.XX <enter> where XX.XX is the decimal value of degrees of the test runway end plus 0.01 degree. For example, if performing the test on runway 09, whose endpoint has Latitude 35º 30, then the value of XX.XX to use would be 35.51 To offset the Longitude, type the following command using WinVIEWS, COV TALngude XX.XX <enter> Note that when using an offset Latitude or Longitude, RAAS will not voice the On Runway advisory as the aircraft aligns along runway heading. Also remember to remove the offset latitude or longitude after the On Taxiway! On Taxiway! voice is issued by typing COD ALL.
