If you would like to donate items for DCTR to sell with proceeds going to offset show expenses, we will be accepting items at the Clubhouse on April 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at the DCTR booth the day of the show. We are asking each donor to price and tag their items. Please provide a written total amount and your name so we can send you a donation receipt for your tax records and for our records. We are also offering booth spaces for a $15 donation if you would like to set up your own booth. Contact Maggie Stout at 913-375-8424 or Julie Springer at 785-979-1161 with any questions. While there, take a minute to check out our DCTR T-shirts, long and short sleeve. They will be for sale along with samples of our new hoodies and ball caps. Don t forget to order yours. Bonnie Kerns displays the beautiful buckle prizes YOU could win in our KSHSC Show Buckle Series! ****************************************** DCTR KICKS OFF THE KSHSC SEASON APRIL 23 Spread the word!!! Sunday April 23, rain or shine, will be the first KSHSC horse show of the season at the Douglas County Fairgrounds indoor arena. Show bill and patterns are posted on the DCTR Facebook page. Not only is it the first show but also the first in our Buckle Series and Walk/Walk-Trot Challenge, see attached flyers for all the details. Need to get your hat in shape for the show season? Dwayne Burgess will be on hand doing hat shaping and cleaning for a $10 donation to benefit DCTR. Let Julie DeYoung know if you will be bringing at hat or two at 785-393-7498 or deyoung.julie@gmail.com. Just in time for that Spring closet and tack room clean out, DCTR will offer a Tack and Show

Upcoming Trail Rides Join Douglas County Trail Riders on May 20 th at the Hillsdale Saddle Ridge Horse Trails (http://ksoutdoors.com/state- Parks/Locations/Hillsdale/Trails/Saddle-Ridge- Trails) for the May trail ride. Ride-out at 1 pm. Followed by a potluck after the ride with burgers and hotdogs around the campfire. Saturday night camping is available for those riders wanting to extend the ride to Sunday morning. Non-members are welcome. A release waiver for non-members is required. This is a no-fee ride, cost limited to state park or camping fees as applicable. Save the date for our next ride, Sunday June 25 th at Perry Lake State Park (http://ksoutdoors.com/state- Parks/Locations/Perry). Campers are encouraged to join us for a Saturday ride and sleep-over at the lake. Ride out is at 10 am on Sunday. Pack a lunch to eat on the trails. DCTR Members are encouraged to contact Michelle Vassar (nitecharm16@yahoo.com) to sign up for flash ride notifications and to join the DCTR StarS (the Spontaneous Trail Adventure RiderS) Facebook page. Looking for company on a last minute ride or wanting to be notified of riders looking for company? Join the flash ride list. DCTR Fundraiser Ride will help pay for a new roof. Yes, we need a new roof on our clubhouse to keep us dry inside. The fundraiser ride is scheduled for November 5 th. Save the date and watch for updates for the ride. Benefit Trail Rides: April 28-30, Kansas Horse Council ride at Hillsdale Lake September 2-3 rd, Perry Lake Benefit Ride September 22 nd, Kannapolis Benefit Ride September 29-October 1 st, Clinton Lake Benefit Ride October 14-15 th, Eisenhower Lake Benefit Ride Work Day April 29 Bring your overalls and hats. Saturday April 29 from 10-3 will be a work day at the DCTR arena. Come join us cleaning the clubhouse and grounds around the arena. There will surely be some painting going on also. Ty Haas Horsemanship Clinic May 7 Come join us for Ty Haas Clinic on May 7 At the DCTR arena. Ty will also be our guest speaker at our regular monthly meeting on May 5. The Recording Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at the monthly Club and Board meeting. Nominations will be taken until May 11. You may email your nomination (self-nominations are welcome!) to dctr@dctr.org or contact President Julie DeYoung at 785-393-7498, The Board will elect the new secretary at the Board meeting that night. March Activities a Success! The Lawrence St Patrick s Day Parade was a complete blast. We had 10 riders and won 3 rd place in the Non-Profit Division. Thanks to Miste Tidball, Liz Rombach, Lori Wasson, Lyric Bartz and everyone else that helped, DCTR riders looked great in our new Leprechaun vests and hats. Looking forward to the next parade which will be in Lecompton on June 17. 2

The Missy Hood Intro to Ranch Riding clinic last month left riders and auditors alike wanting more. We had a full complement of 15 riders and a bunch of auditors to get the low-down on one of the hottest new riding event.
